The novel version of his death is so damn heartbreaking. He literally calculates the possibilites of Cassian and Jyn leaving the planet alive and, once he realises they are close to non-existant, he imagines a scenario where they escape alive just so he can die happy.
"He loosely projected eighty-nine ways to prolong his own existence (For periods ranging from .8 milliseconds, to 43 days)." "With one second left until total shutdown, K-2SO chose to mentally simulate an impossible scenario in which Cassian Andor escaped alive. The simulation pleased him."
"There are lot explosions for two people blending in." Throws a grenade, killing incoming stormtroopers. "You're right. I should just wait on the ship."
This isn't even the first time he's played a very human-like android, and the performances are very distinct from each other. I see Tudyk's name on a project, and I know it's going to be quality.
"You did, but I thought it was boring, and you were in trouble." "Surrender now!" *catches grenade* "Awful lot of explosions for two people 'blending in'." *Tosses grenade* "You're right, I should have just stayed on the ship."
"Your behavior, Jyn Erso, is continually unexpected." Is my favorite line in the movie. By itself it isn't all that but the delivery has so much emotion. Just the way he looks at the blaster she just handed him, and the way his voice fluctuates humanely it's perfect.
Hands down the best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy. Great story and well directed. I thought the cast did a good job in general and whilst some of the new characters were not particularly memorable they were infinitely more likeable and believable than the actors from the movies that came afterwards. K2SO was a delight. I don't recall another droid ever actually killing someone onscreen in the movies though my mind might be slipping.
The novelization of the movie is actually really good, because it goes PoV for all of the characters as they face their deaths, including K2. About 5 mins or so (audiobook wise) are spent on him analyzing every conceivable escape route for himself, and analyzing his own memories as it were. He then looked to the best chance for Jyn and Cassian to get the plans would be to sacrifice himself. All of this programming and analyzing taking place over a few seconds of 'real time'. Really adds a nice additional layer to his sacrifice, which while not vital, since they kind of give you that realization with how he says "goodbye", it is nice to read/hear it done.
They could've added a quick "thought sequence" of him frantically parsing all the different scenarios, and then pausing to think "I have to sacrifice myself, to save them". It would've been beautiful - and I would've cried even more (which is not a good thing).

the way he says it is just, heart-wrenching, man. I bawl every time I've seen it, which is at least like. Three times (I'm so tempted to watch it again lmao)

+D07L18T Rip off? That's reaching
In terms of Droid Badassery, the line of succession is HK-47, R2D2, K-2, SCORPIO, C1-10P, T3-M4, T7, Kalani, then the droid head attached to the Wookiee in the Shadow of Revan Expansion pack!
0:02 wait, I recognize that choke slam grab! I kept being smashed onto the ground by the same looking droid in Jedi Fallen Order 😣
A signature part of their programming
yeah those little goddamm bitches
well, the game was made after this movie, so yea.
It’s so annoying when they grab you. Even if you reprogram to follow you, they don’t grab enemies, only you.
Jedi: Fallen Order really tests your fondness for K2S0 😂
my favourite droid so far
Best disney star wars movie by a mile.
Seriously, just K2SO's CGI is better than all of Marvel's Phase 4 combined. He's flawless
a droid made me cry
"Goodbye"
the way he says it is just, heart-wrenching, man. I bawl every time I've seen it, which is at least like. Three times (I'm so tempted to watch it again lmao)
I'm crying my eyes out rn. I can't with that scene.
In the novelization it's even sadder with context. K2SO knows the probability of anyone escaping is infinitesimal. A second before he shuts down, he simulates an impossible scenario in his mind where Andor escapes alive. This last thought is what brings him comfort.
K2SO was the main character in Rogue One.
Change my mind.
He didn't do shit. Just assisting the PROTAGINISTS.
@@lordbluebaron2270 someone can’t take a joke
@@youngsters3 A joke is suppose to be funny.
@@lordbluebaron2270 not only was the original comment not a joke, it was simply an opinion. Also K2 is literally the only character I’ve laughed at in Star Wars. If girls are allowed to like Chewbacca who equally doesn’t do crap we should be able to like K2
@@LucyWest370 don’t worry about him I bet he’s still pissy about the sequels lol
Why does she get a blaster and I don't?
Where did you get that?
I found it
K2S0: I find that answer vague and unconvincing
onemuseyboi - because you’re a dog
Really enjoyed Rogue One and K2SO will always be my favourite.
RIP K2SO. A real hero.
Rogue One can stay. The rest of the Kennedy films must go. Technically, Rogue One is a prequel, too.
Same as Solo....but that doesnt make Solo any good.
Because George Lucas wrote it in the title crawl for IV
@@Aramis7 Best part of Solo was the Mimban scene
Nope, it has to go aswell.
Nah i think theyll stay and continue to piss you virgins off for years to come :)

"Although there's a problem on the horizon...there's no horizon..." This is my favorite line from K2
Also the part where k2 slaps the other guy shouting "Quiet!" (I don't know his name) that wasn't scripted, he got a little bit to into character so he slapped him for talking
K&R Vlogs
His names Cassian
@no name and what the fuck does that have to do with anything?
0:58 was my favorite part. XD
because at this point you realised that wasn't a kids movie anymore
“Did you know that wasn’t me?”
He became my favorite droid. Arguably my favorite character.
"I've got a bad feeling about this."
A staple line in Star Wars.
But he was not allowed to finish it. Thus dooming our protagonists, compared to those who did say the full line.
My entire extended family went and saw this in the theater on Christmas...
My younger sister (mid 40's) was crying as we left the theater and remarked that the ending was so sad.
I told her that the Star Wars franchise finally made a realistic movie about war and the sacrifices involved.
Rogue One is probably my favorite movie in the franchise.
my cousins never ever seen a star wars movie but saw Rouge one and cried when he died
Remember when people complained Disney would never make a dark movie? Good times.
Original version was darker
@@ReddwarfIV Much darker...
@@TGOPoma what do you mean ?
Styk Lannes Original version included a lot of grittiness and death scenes. It also included the capture of over a dozen rebel pilots who are later executed.
Yeah Disney went in and fuddled with the movie because it was "Too dark" and wanted something "Enjoyable for all audiences" in Rogue One.
Why I cry at the end of this?
When he said goodbye I lost it this sarcastic smarmy yet loveable asshole, actually realizes how important this situation is and dies saving the two people he's been quibbling with.
Viktória Šupšaková K2SO was an awesome droid: sarcastic, done with everyone's shit, but lovable at the same time.
Seeing him meet a gruesome fate was understandably heartbreaking.
Because he's the only character we really give a shit about in the disney SW

I love K2SO, one of the very few good characters introduced in Disney Star Wars
"That's exactly how you said it, the whole system goes DOWN!"
2:29 is obviously a Clone Trooper stationed among fools.
They never really did get used to the new guys.
It very well could be a clone, the empire did use clones for some time before stopping the production.

*"There is no horizon."*
Hands down my favorite droid character. What I wouldn't give for a re-programmed imperial droid.
What about the literal war hero?
"There are a lot of explosions for two people blending in"
Tell that to Kanjiklub.
Luke and Han exploded the death star and one pilot rammed into the command bridge of the super star destroyer.
"Your right, I should just wait on the ship"

It's great
I know very few people who did not love Rogue One.

Of all the characters in Star Wars, this is the only one to remind me of myself. Godspeed you magnificent bastard.
"There's a problem on the horizon sir... there is no *horizon* "

Why is it that the droid characters are more likeable than the human characters?
Because we are not robots.
AaronAmerican518 because they decided to make the robot characters the comedic relief and the human characters more serious
When robots are funny then it is infinitely better because you see humanity in something that does not. Plus he is the funniest out of everyone regardless. The Sequels overloaded on it but he makes it more natural.
I love how effortless he is in everything he does.
0:01 That was some Undertaker style Chokeslam right there.
1:29 LMAO I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT
