You can still be older and have a acute meniscus tear. I know the exact time, place & how I injured my knee. I have no significant arthritis. MRI also showed Baker's cyst ,bone contusion, loose bodies & tissue edema. I had no knee pain prior to the injury. I am having a partial meniscectomy in 3 wks. 6 mos. after the injury. I tried conservative measures first, PT & a cortisone shot.

My experience is quite similar to yours. 61yrs old and mine was an acute tear. I knew exactly when I did it. Partial meniscectomy in 1 month approx 6 months after the injury. Steroid shot was ineffective. Euflexxa shots were scheduled however I sought a second opinion and the new surgeon recommended the surgery. First one should have, but dismissed me because of my age. I am a very young 61.

@@kjFL1 I did have surgery 6 mos. after the injury. It wasn't too bad I have mild arthritis which is why I was able to have the surgery. The Dr. won't do it if you have a severe case. I am older than you. I agree about the surgeon, some won't do it, other's are willing. Thxs for sharing!
