      @@JeffKraus-o2k @JeffKraus-o2k what a fallacious argument. Saying that there is something wrong with America does not imply that there is nothing wrong with Australia. Indeed, one could say that there is something wrong with America, just as there is something wrong with Australia. All they said was that the claim "there is something wrong with America" is correct. You assuming that they immediately imply that Australia is perfectly right in everything whatsoever is ridiculous and asinine (i.e. childish and dumb, since you probably do not know what that word means -granted, that is an assumption on my part. Yet, given your lack of critical thinking, I feel that it is an entirely justifiable assumption).

      @@tomcuthbert-sayers1451great response. Even seeing how things aren't the best in Oz, it's a very far cry from the Gong Show going on in the US now. At least in our system of Gov't, you're pretty much shielded from this sort of craziness. The Presidential form of Gov't often leads to Dictatorships and Civil Wars. Just look at central and South America as examples of "Banana Republics". I'd much rather have our Parliamentary form of Gov't than a US type of Republic.

  • @DrHenryFox

    Really really really really really appreciated the first 10 minutes. Too many in the media are scared to point out when something is factually incorrect, to appear impartial.

    • @UberNoodle
      @UberNoodle 7 днів тому

      Because somewhere along the line media outlets forgot what objectivity and impartiality actually means. It doesn't mean neutrality. It certainly doesn't mean ignoring the overwhelming evidence before you in order to perform that "neutrality".
      But the irony is, that's far from neutral. That's entirely partisan because it only favours one side -- the side that has trained them to believe that any criticism is wrong; the side they are terrified of. And that's neither objective or impartial either.

    • @obelix703
      @obelix703 7 днів тому

      They (the American press) have an outdated model of non-partisan reporting, and most of them are too scared to do anything about it.

      I think John has recently become a little weary of Chas consistently taking the "other side" point of view in these situations for the past couple of years. Yes, I get it, the media's constant Trump-bashing and one-sided narratives that overhype every small thing Trump says or does are very tiresome, but Chas thinks the solution to that is to find a way to play devil's advocate in every single scenario, even ones that he surely knows are bad-faith from the people pushing them.
      He's also said that he gets very tired of literally every single thing he's ever asked when he does interviews for ABC or other networks revolves around Trump. I understand that would be frustrating, but unfortunately mate, you chose to make a career out of covering American politics, and at least for the next four years, American politics will continue to revolve around Trump. You can't change that by sanewashing/defending the objectionable acts of him and people around him.

    It's also true that people tend to hire people who look like them, which is not great.

      @sforbesgocka of course, I just mean that ultimately I don't think we solve inequality with inequality. But now 30 years later white people are told sorry we can't hire white people.

    Recordings of air traffic control and the radar tracks of the aircraft involved have been released and show that the air traffic control warned the helicopter pilot of the collision several times before impact. At the time the black hawk pilot had requested and was working on visual identification to avoid collision after being cleared to land at the airport. It was clear that the pilot miss identified the wrong jet and was not aware of the landing plane that they collided with

    FYI, all ATC positions - worldwide - are staffed according to the HIGHEST workload that may be encountered in the post, at that time of the day. However, in circumstances at any given time, where peak traffic is not scheduled, superfluous staff are sent home. Note that underemployed and bored controllers are always potentially dangerous. It is very likely that in quiet times (e.g. overnight) these positions are routinely combined under one controller. Indications are that this was the case here.
    ATC “understaffing” manifests as overtime, not fewer operators on the job.
    The suggestion that any American controller does not reach the level of aptitude required, is ridiculous. Initial ATC training is further designed to expose and eliminate candidates who fail to get “rated” for each new position on the ladder. The filtration process continues as each controller is further trained for higher posts.

      Not at all. DEI does the opposite actually. It’s designed to make sure you hire on the basis of merit, not on the basis or racial or religious or other bias/prejudice. For example, research shows than people with non-western names on their resumes tend to not get hired even with the same or better resume.
