I love this series. It's a shame they aren't more popular and that this is prob the last thing we'll get. The story may not blow your hair back but the level design is exquisite and the powers are fun to use.
Maybe it is better than having an AC every now and then that got boring after the fourth release. But I am with you, the level design and also game play is pretty intriguing.
Well they are just done with the Attono story, like they have a huge and pretty well developed world to work with, and they probably wanna make a more modern time period in it. So think about the 1920's in this universe, or even modern day but with the alternate universes version. Like I'm sure they'll do something with the world they made, just not more of the dunwall kingdom stuff since it's played out. Like they put globes all over the game, almost to tell you there is a great big world that will be explored in later releases
I just wish they released map-making toolkits. The community would create huge amounts of new content. A big map, some house presets and custom objectives and voila. Endless content.

I'm actually happy this one doesn't force me to go lethal or non-lethal because while I do like it in the other games and I've always been a Low Chaos guy, it just does not fit in well here. In fact, this whole thing for me encourages a High Chaos playthrough from the setting to the characters to even the title so I'm glad this one is confident enough to just tell the one story it wants to tell and let's me play however I please.
Switching between chaos and low chaos always felt like the best way of playing Dishonored, but because the game always told you killing people is bad, and made a point of it, low chaos became a go to for a lot of people (myself included). High chaos never felt good to go through for me (In both D1 and D2), despite this being a game series where you are given powers to literally blow your opposition to smithereens. There being no incentive to choose either side is 100% a good thing.
Yukiko Sanada - Yes it does. Maybe not outright "forcing" as you would define it maybe. But getting a good ending means spilling little to no blood plus achievements if you don't kill anyone or don't get detected which is an incentive. That in itself is leading the player to a certain train of thought and playstyle and players then have to adapt and only get and use the abilities that suits how they intend to play. Though, I'm not saying that's a bad thing because I liked that approach for the last two games since it fits there but saying they never force you or at least influence you is just untrue.

But I'm just saying that the structure of the previous games does invite players to go one way if they want a clean playthrough and that has always been true since the first game otherwise people wouldn't have replayed it as much as they did. And that's why a lot of players quick save a lot and quick load once they make a "mistake" because they tend to want go one way and get achievements and a certain ending. Sure it's by choice but it's a choice influenced by the structure of the games and how it rewards you. There's 5 missions and only 3 new maps. Mission 2 & 3 are the same map with some areas unlocked the second time through. And mission (I think 4) is a reused level from dishonored 2, now sent in day time rather then night and feels more empty in the building. The new game + mode that unlocks powers from dishonored 2 only unlocks blink, dark vision and domino and doesn't even let you keep the original 3 powers this game come with this game. I do like the story
So my PS4 was factory reset by accident and I was so bummed out. But the first game I knew I wanted to play over was Dishonored 1. Every time I play Dishonored I always find something new. This is what I loved about the series and hopefully they won't stop here.

I usually play dishonored games on my first playthrough as if i only have 1 life, so having a single ending is both good and bad, i no longer have to worry about an accidentally high body count but will also lose some replay ability
To be honest, that's Dishonored games in a nutshell. Im half-way through the game and ive played 8 hours already because ive been super thorough with finding everything. But you can also find ways to speedrun the game in half an hour if you wanted to. 👌

I have to disagree with this one. Death of the Outsider was actually much more deep than dishonored 2 and handled morality better. The game abandons the patronizing, infamous-esque morality system of the first two for one where only your own conscious dictates your decisions. Instead of going wild and killing everybody, i was able to deal out justice to the evil and spare the innocent without being given a bad ending for killing too many. The result was my own personality being embodied in the world around me instead of me trying to fulfill a checklist for the low chaos ending.

It's not bad or anything, but the story is just a bunch of strung-together events that just describe a chain of actions which lead to a goal. I would've preferred if they tried to have an actual theme besides "killing iz bad" and deeper connections to the characters than just "Hello, I'm so and so. You need to do this for me". Dishonored had a decent plot, but Dishonored 2 just felt like it was completely built around the maps. From a gameplay standpoint, this is great for level design, but it sacrificed any meaning in favor of an impressive setting
It’s sad that they made DotO a pretty definitive ending to the Dishonored franchise. I mean you either kill or free the outsider, but without him there is no Mark, no powers
billie lurk is easily the best character from this whole series. as much as i like corvo, emily, the outsider, and a handfull of other side characters, arkane really pulled out some interesting character writing w billie. within the first few moments of the game as i was looking through her chambers for items i just really felt for her seeing the state she was living in, and playing this game made me appreciate daud more than i did from the first 2 games
Actually ive done a total high chaos playthrough and a total no killing whatsoever complete stealth playthrough and there are subtle differences based on weather you kill or not
Dishonored should rly enable all dishonored 2 powers with Billie's, also u can come back to areas and replay it and keeping your coin on new game plus.
I don't like how this DLC does not have a lethal/nonlethal change in it. Makes it feel half assed in a game that does a consequence system way better than almost every game out there
Dishonored 2 is still a bit wonky on PC but is otherwise playable now, so yeah. Even with the dreadful launch, it was one of my favorite releases last year.
Anyone else really want them to make some sort of multiplayer for Dishonored? I just think it would be sick using abilities and trying to do creative kills on other players, but it would be really fun and difficult since everyone else would be trying to do the same, plus it would just be cool blinking all over the map and not being the only one who can
The true canon story of all the games is based on Low Chaos, Daud killing Billie is the High Chaos version, but the story follows the Low Chaos version.
It uses the same engine and systems as 2 but is launched as its own application, has its own trophy list (and platinum) and can be purchased separately. It's a bit weird, but hopefully that kind of answers your question :)
It's as much DLC as Knife of Dunwall/Witches of Brigmore. It's just a standalone purchase. (likely due to improvements to the engine that make it run better than Dishonored 2).
Did he not play Dishonored 2? He uses the conservatory mission as an example of a cool detailed environment... its the exact same map as the Royal Conservatory in D2 with a few tweaks
It bothers me that the reviewer didn't realize that the Conservatory was a re-skin from Dishonored 2. Honestly felt like this game was a disappointment in comparison to the others including Knife of Dunwall/Brigmore Witches DLC. Billies powers grew on me, however I wish for Original Game Plus mode we could mix and match, because I like Time-Freeze Blink more than Displace but I like Foresight much more than Dark Vision.
Lol. He complains that semblance doesn't last long enough, and then complains that there aren't upgrades. Does he want to just semblance one guard and then be able to casually walk through the rest of the level or something? Well, you can't; because Arkane actually bothered to balance it so one use can get you past a tricky encounter. Sorry, but you actually have to use your brain a little. Don't expect your powers to do all the work for you. Besides, by mission 3 I had two bonecharms that improve semblance; one increasing the duration, and another one that refills my mana when I kill someone.
The First Game with a Lead Black Female Protagonist... an it's so overlooked .. but when you are Black, you can't help but to notice.. we just don't get enough characters like this..
Wait! You thought Dishonored 2 set a "high bar" for story? Like many other Dishonored fans, I believe the story was quite poor and thought the characters were pretty dull, especially when you compare it to the first game of the franchise.
Clay Jensen Uhh yeah standalone doesn't mean it's not part of the main series which is why it fits into the main story. Same as the standalone DLC with Daud in Dishonored 1. And in the Daud DLC they have your actions affect the story and world just like the main games. It's a Dishonored game and that's a big part of the series. It should be there, that's all there is to it.
Clay Jensen You take away that from the game and you lose the part where your choices matter and you also lose the different playthroughs for the same game. Another big part of the Dishonored series is playing through the story more than once to experience a whole different way to play and a different story.
I'm actually kinda of happy about it. For me, it means that this time around I can go wild and kill everyone without having to worry about getting a bad ending lmao.
Chris Rivera Yeah I just do that anyway... And then I replay again killing no one and never being seen. It's almost like playing seperate games doing that. Plus it makes the game more worthwhile.
4 hours if you rush it/only do the story missions. 8 or more if you take your time to explore, do side missions, read the various notes, fully experiment with abilities, try different outcomes, collect tricky trophies. You also get your money's worth by doing this, you know. One doesn't finish the story and then abandon the game completely. Dishonored is also meant to be replayed, multiple times, too.

Dishonored when you start killing things becomes very very boring game. Killing is easy. First game I love, did play it through twice both lethal and no lethal. Second was not bad but unbalanced that one feels kinda pointless without any incentive to use stealth. Basically kill everything and go your merry way.
If I lost interest almost immediately whIle playing D2 would I enjoy this game? I loved the first game the second just fell like the exact same thing which bored me.

The true canon story of all the games is based on Low Chaos, Daud killing Billie is the High Chaos version, but the story follows the Low Chaos version.

It uses the same engine and systems as 2 but is launched as its own application, has its own trophy list (and platinum) and can be purchased separately. It's a bit weird, but hopefully that kind of answers your question :)
It's as much DLC as Knife of Dunwall/Witches of Brigmore. It's just a standalone purchase. (likely due to improvements to the engine that make it run better than Dishonored 2).

Did he not play Dishonored 2? He uses the conservatory mission as an example of a cool detailed environment... its the exact same map as the Royal Conservatory in D2 with a few tweaks

The only downside of this game is the lack of upgrading, other than that it’s more Dishonored, which is nice.

The game was just a little bit too short for me compared to the previous games sadly.
It bothers me that the reviewer didn't realize that the Conservatory was a re-skin from Dishonored 2. Honestly felt like this game was a disappointment in comparison to the others including Knife of Dunwall/Brigmore Witches DLC. Billies powers grew on me, however I wish for Original Game Plus mode we could mix and match, because I like Time-Freeze Blink more than Displace but I like Foresight much more than Dark Vision.

Lol. He complains that semblance doesn't last long enough, and then complains that there aren't upgrades. Does he want to just semblance one guard and then be able to casually walk through the rest of the level or something? Well, you can't; because Arkane actually bothered to balance it so one use can get you past a tricky encounter. Sorry, but you actually have to use your brain a little. Don't expect your powers to do all the work for you. Besides, by mission 3 I had two bonecharms that improve semblance; one increasing the duration, and another one that refills my mana when I kill someone.

The First Game with a Lead Black Female Protagonist... an it's so overlooked .. but when you are Black, you can't help but to notice.. we just don't get enough characters like this..
Wait! You thought Dishonored 2 set a "high bar" for story? Like many other Dishonored fans, I believe the story was quite poor and thought the characters were pretty dull, especially when you compare it to the first game of the franchise.
Some Asian Guy all three have terrible stories, characters, world and setting, but the supernatural stuff is real cool.
Loved every world, I agree the characters in general were much more dull though

Clay Jensen Uhh yeah standalone doesn't mean it's not part of the main series which is why it fits into the main story. Same as the standalone DLC with Daud in Dishonored 1. And in the Daud DLC they have your actions affect the story and world just like the main games. It's a Dishonored game and that's a big part of the series. It should be there, that's all there is to it.
Clay Jensen You take away that from the game and you lose the part where your choices matter and you also lose the different playthroughs for the same game. Another big part of the Dishonored series is playing through the story more than once to experience a whole different way to play and a different story.
I'm actually kinda of happy about it. For me, it means that this time around I can go wild and kill everyone without having to worry about getting a bad ending lmao.
Chris Rivera Yeah I just do that anyway... And then I replay again killing no one and never being seen. It's almost like playing seperate games doing that. Plus it makes the game more worthwhile.

4 hours if you rush it/only do the story missions.
8 or more if you take your time to explore, do side missions, read the various notes, fully experiment with abilities, try different outcomes, collect tricky trophies. You also get your money's worth by doing this, you know. One doesn't finish the story and then abandon the game completely. Dishonored is also meant to be replayed, multiple times, too.

Dishonored when you start killing things becomes very very boring game. Killing is easy. First game I love, did play it through twice both lethal and no lethal. Second was not bad but unbalanced that one feels kinda pointless without any incentive to use stealth. Basically kill everything and go your merry way.
