29:31 the Ursas team only need 2 points from the 2 games against the Crimson Chickens to get to the playoffs ... so be ready to face heavy armored factions with a lot of javelins !
while the CC need 6 points from the 2 games versus the Ursas to be qualified.. you will need to make more risky choices of factions...or a risky sally out being successfull.
    good luck Apollo n Ruvak

but i will then advice both teams to pick up the best factions as both of you just want to win both games ;=) and that will be epic !!!!

I wish they updated sparta's faction in the game for I just recently watch a video by youtuber called "Invicta" on sparta. I think they should be set as to have the highest moral in game for they are known to die to the man and rarely taken prisoners. They should add many more formation options for them. For in a organizational standpoint of armies in that era they have the one of highest degree compared to other armies of the time, besides rome.

Thing is by the time of the game Sparta really wasn’t doing too hot. They’re military couldn’t compete with the Macedonians and other Successor states. Their caste system was falling apart and very few spartonids could afford to keep their positions due to a ban on commerce. After Philip of Macedon Sparta was effectively dead in the water and irrelevant to the politics of the region

    • @sinonkryze3638
      @sinonkryze3638 Рік тому +2

@@zal7782 Yeah, I learned also one of the reasons to their fall is their population has a continuous decline thus they can't continue to field their armies and became reliate to allied states and mercenaries to fight their wars. But according to the video I have seen they are of the key armies that set the foundation of having more officers down to unit level that was then greater enhanced by the romans and other nations to the present.

Sparta in time of Rome was nothing and they were nothing century before Romans even united Italy. They tried many times to enslave rest of Greece with help from Persia and they failed. They tried to defeat Macedons in the beginning with Persian support and they failed. Their military might was such big that they achieved to kill most of their citizens in offensive wars and yet they enslaved and ruined only fraction of Greece. To become Spartan you had to be born as pure blooded Spartan and also basicly millionaire, or risk to become another hellot and maybe another human sacrifice. This millitary superpower without any resistance was turned into freak show circus few moments later after Romans arrived.
I like Spartan super soldier mythos, it definitly brought interest into history for many people, just dont mix reality with over hyped fantasy 😅

The Wolf Gang team saved your lives in this tournament and they knew how to better use the city to their advantage by retreating to more advantageous points, in addition to the fact that the player who used the Lusitani made a better choice of troops for this battle than you in the previous one and it was actually quite noticeable in the way in which he was able to defeat the Spartans and Syracusans more easily, although neither of them has the same advantage in projectiles as Pergamum (even so, I still believe that if you in instead of a cavalry unit, you would have rolled one more Veteran Shields or two cheap swordsmen, you would have won). Call me crazy but I think that might not be the best group to model our military after which already does a great job pillaging most of the world for its resources.

I have heard people say that as well. So, what if they weren’t winners most of the time. But it’s not about that. It’s about their ethos. For example, the Vikings were hardly empire builders but they were feared as fighters. Sometimes it’s not about their wins or expansion. Another example, the Japanese soldier during WW2 was something to be respected and feared. They lost battle after battle, but they were hardened and strong fighters.

While I agree somewhat with you saying 'fascism didn't exist.' Isn't that why they put proto in front of it? Also, just because something didnt have a name or a fleshed out system (such as when Mussolini created the term Fascism) that doesn't mean Fascism didn't exist in the past. It really comes down to how you view Fascism, but then that opens the door for interpretations of many things. Like if you think Mussolini created Fascism and only his system is Fascist, then Fascism has only actually been tried one time (Mussolini's Italy). All other attempts weren't really Fascist, such as Nazi Germany. So if we want to be literal, we can be, but then history becomes very difficult to explain because no nation has ever been like another nation. They always have some differences in their governance, economic systems, etc. Do you see how complicated history would be if we didn't generalize some stuff? I am not an expert on Sparta, so I can't really comment whether they were Fascist or not. Obviously, if we are being literal, no, they weren't Fascist. Fascism wasn't even a term back then. However, it may be a case where they were Fascist before we had a term for it (hence the proto-fascist label).

Great stuff. And your commentary's the best, even though you don't stumble that much anymore, to my great sorrow.. How can you constantly miss a letter "U" with a letter "A" and then you just give up and call them "Bears".. I'm dying 🤣
I wish you all the luck in next battles, you have every chance to get to the playoffs. In your last battle you were an inch to the victory, if the equipment didn't fkd you up and the walls crumbled as they should, and if you didn't forget 2 units crushed by javelins at the end game you'd get it.
    All the best

It did not slow down the Persian army long enough for them to fail to complete their objective of getting revenge on Athens. Considering it broke the best defensive position the Greeks had to keep out an army and saw Boetia and Attica overrun I don’t think the battle really had any impact on the course of the war. So I get it...Spartans in military culture are hheeavvvilllyy overused....granted though, its not like we dont do the same thing with other symbolic groups or cultures. Frankly the Aztecs would be a better culture for the military to take from, they were a full fledges warrior society, would engage in flower wars (wars bassically that were just to test their warriors might) and would military influence as their form of control and intimidation against other city-states

The spartan youths were really what dragged them down they didnt do alot for them and they just fell apart quickly should have picked a different unit than that

The article is entirely correct. Spartans were historically a loser society, and they only ended up on the winning side of the Peloponnesian wars due to Persian influence and the power of the other greek city states. On the battle field they were nothing special and were destroyed by the Sacred Band at Leuctra. Throughout their history Sparta struggled with population issues and were scared to death of the helots rising up. Their economy was bad and the actually city of sparta was garbage.

finally, someone, who has done the research, and has not fallen into Hollywood's view of "history"

@@hhassana Well they weren't exactly fascist but they were extremely cruel even for the standards to the time. They had the highest slave to population ratio, their slaves were considerably treated the worst, and the Spartans were scared to death of their slaves. But at the end of the day the US army idolizing the Spartans is not good and plays more into the Hollywood narrative rather than the actual history.

@@kiankier7330 Hollywood has blood on their hands for the modern perceptions of Spartans. There are so many cooler and more interesting Greek city states (I think Pergamon and Thebes were way cooler and way more interesting).

Yeah their society was evil. But I always question anti western culture articles . And their use of fascism.
