@@phgamer4393 they did say in one of the responses that supposedly a future software update will allow multiple cameras to be serviced by one device but we'll see.
@@phgamer4393Multi camera support is coming. AI Key is also coming, which will support way more. But a good idea to release a smaller device to get the software in a better state first.
So do you need the AI port for every camera you want to have Unifi's AI features? I'm assuming the AI Port is just an inferencing compute device which is sends the inferences to Unifi Protect? If so, why can't we just self host an application that does this instead?
Without going to their website to read anything, just going off this video and some domain-specific sense... I'd say the need for storage by the device and a hardware AI accelerator (TPU or the like) is the reason. You need the hardware to crunch a stream of X resolution against Y models. And the only way to get the cost of hardware to scale proportionally by deployment size is to make that hardware per-device.
Why do we need to have this thing with sdcard (for each camera?) to have AI capabilities, if everything could be computated centrally? Can someone explain
Just one Question so if we have 30 cameras or So, Do we need 30AI devices to add ll the same futures as the Ubiquiti Cameras with AI? Because the Onvif only records on Continuous and doesn’t do Movement records only!
So if you can turn my OV cameras into AI, why can’t the standard G5 cameras be equipped with this function, why do I have to buy the AI versions of UniFi kit?
G5 Cameras support basic detections like people, cars, animals - while our AI Cameras support advanced AI Detections including face and license plate recognition.
Any plans for COAX Port? Some places have existing COAX wiring that can’t be replaced. Nice to have a rack device with let say 8 coax cameras and power for them.
Wondering if anyone knows... what are the 2 rack devices above the USW-Mission-Critical? And what are the devices are right above the Enterprise Network Video Recorders?
This device is cool can't wait for the AI key but I think I speak for a lot of us when I say What we really want is the ubiquity UPS !! We have all this beautiful gear and we need to protect it
Love unifi, but their camera software are very closed.. please open up an api for devs to use the cameras as they wish. I want to do more from protect.
"...securely firewall any rtsp stream..." That's not true through is it? The AI Key will only pair with ONVIF compliant devices, and there's no firewall. The 3rd-party device, even when connected directly through the AI Key's ethernet port, is still fully exposed to the LAN, and has unfiltered access to the internet as before (subject to any restrictions put in place by the network admin).
So, to avoid the "expensive migration" from ONVIF cameras to Unifi cameras, you've added an external inline device that costs as much as a camera? I'm not following the logic here. I was excited for this item for exactly the amount of time it took me to get to the UI store page and find it... that price point is ridiculous.
Third-Party ONVIF cameras are supported with Protect 5.0, but limited to basic streaming/recording. For advanced AI features and a complete UniFI Protect experience, you will need AI Port. Learn more: ui.social/AI-Port-FAQ
Welcome to App.. I mean Unifi. It's good, and you pay for it. I hear there are some state-sponsored cameras you can use for cheap. Wait, I'm guessing you already have those. Do you realize AI cameras start at $500 for Unifi? They have onboard processing that the normal cameras don't have.
The price point seemed a little steep until the perspective of a $500 AI camera was given. Really, UI needs to come out with a surveillance switch that can compute AI for 16-48 cameras on the switch itself. A $600-$1000 switch would be a lot cheaper for larger installs.
$199 per camera is outrageous for this, unless each unit can process more than one camera? Especially seeing as you’ve actively chosen to disallow ONVIF events so we’re forced to use a $200 device to use our existing cameras on Unifi
@@UbiquitiInc Interesting, than you for taking the time to share this link. I'm always wary of "trust me, we'll improve it in the future" claims, but I optimistically wait for an update that makes the offering more compelling :)
Lol. No comment. I migrated ALL my cams to UniFi and I could not be happier. Flawless. Except the doorbell G4 pro, which is a bit flakey. I hope it can be made more reliable.
Now, if we could just get a real firewall interface with a normal rule behavior, it would be just perfect. I really wonder who is designing that part of their firewall honestly, but he/she never did security on the newer brands in the last 10 years that's for sure.

I love the "transform your state sponsored cameras!" love the jab there UniFi
truth
Was just going to the comments to say the same haha!
Chinese state sponsored cameras
that was great
Gilfoyle 😂 Is he the son of the son of Anton?
damn, Jack "Action Jack" Barker and Gilfoyle in a single ad, ubiquiti must be all in in the conjoined triangles of Success
And I wonder how much this cost them.
And not a single mention of the "box."
Can we get Ubiquiti to put some budget behind a new Silicon Valley series? PLEASE.
man, i'd love that!
@@trisjor hopefully with not a BS ending. omg AI will break encryption lets kill the product. meanwhile the NSA/CIA are doing whatever.

THIS!!! 💯
i would have prefered a multi camera unit rather than a 200+ upgrade per device. you know a server with a gpu maybe. however, this not a bad solution

AI overlords took Gilfoyle under their control. He knew it.
Bodhi from Tulsa King got so high he ascending into AI !!!
Love it, but let's cut to the chase: UNVR AI when?
This has been great to have my cameras show in unify!
Love the old callback. Good job video team.
Been testing out the ONVIF support and it's pretty good. Even for random camera brands

coax + Pull string + effort = unifi.
This is great guys. Good ads, listening the crowd, please don't go full subscription. Remember Tropic Thunder "Never go full 4etard"
Ok now add audio support to ONVIF
When paired with the AI Key you do actually get audio support. No idea why they don't currently support it without the AI Key.
