I have owned my tricity for three years now, I do recommend two upgrades, the first replace the tyres with pirelli Rosso sport . It improves the handling a lot and makes scooter a lot fun on twisty roads. The second I a malossi variator with 12.5 roller weights, this improves the performance and gets you to your top speed much quicker. The advantage with the scooter is because it is a step through and it can carry a backpack between your legs. Good review, keep it up.
Thanks for this wonderful and very informative video. You did a great job of giving all the important information in a nice concise form. I know this video must have been a great effort as you had to do a few extra shots and piece together all the video shots. So once again thanks for taking the time to do this for us. After seeing your videos, I too bought the Tricity 155 cc and coming from an Xmax I find this bike nice and stable and yet light enough to be confident riding in the roads of Sydney.
Haha thanks for the kind words! Yeah it was a difficult video to make because I wanted to get good clips of day to day situations that I got into with this bike. All in all I got pretty lucky and managed to collect everything within a span of a couple of weeks. Hopefully the review will help other folks with their bike decisions, because I had so much difficulty finding information about this bike early on as well.
I bought my Tricity in 2016 , now 23000 kms , use it once a week for shopping/Drs. Never let me down, serviced by the Dealer since new. Only cost me 1 set tyres,1 x drive belt and battery. Love it to peices. I fitted a Top box for Shopping. All in all a Winner here in New Zealand
Honestly why not? After I started to learn riding, I really understood why people would ride over driving. Feeling everything around you is such a visceral experience! If I can get that feeling in a safer package I'd take it. And this is coming from a guy who has been driving for like 13 years.

Thanks for you video! Really good one! I’m using a 125cc in Vienna (capital city from Austria) and I love it. It certainly is! I love using it for short city travel, its where it excels at and the storage for me has been more than sufficient for grocery runs etc!
Hey man, great video that pretty much sums up my conclusions owning this as my first bike for half a year and counting. Wish this one was up before my purchase haha. Seems like we're pretty similar with the bike choice, wearing gear, filtering but avoiding splitting, etc. Perhaps you must be my relative from a parallel universe. With the widest part at the front, as long as that clears you can filter and split as good as any other bike. Stability is definitely a huge factor, especially at slow sleeps. Love to do no-foot-down at stop lines. Leans like a normal bike so it's still rather enjoyable to ride one. Had the rear lose traction or fishtail a little when I rode a little too aggressive or fast, but the front end remained planted to the ground. I can fit my full modular helmet under the seat with some squeezing. It doesn't feel the best so I tend to avoid that and put it in my large 48L topbox instead. The front tires seem to wear out quickly. Technicians said it's because the wheels are toe-d in or something. Either way, maintenance wise you have to change two front tires instead of one and that might bring up the cost a little... especially with something happens with the LMW since it's definitely a lot more complex than a normal front wheel. Might want to check on the front tires a bit more often I feel the biggest downside is the 155cc and weight which makes it feel a bit underpowered, especially when you want to overtake a large vehicle hogging a lane on the highway. Planning to ride more into Malaysia. Tried a few security solutions and found that disc locks can't really fit in any of the 3 wheels due to limited clearance. Had a eureka moment recently to just use a Compact U-lock to secure the rim and forks together. The more interesting question is why did you get one?
Hey thanks for your awesome comment! Especially on the front wheels bit, I've not really checked it much but I will take note of them in the future. I got the Tricity because my parents were super against bikes. So I didn't really want to disrespect them and just buy a bike, instead I sat them down, had a whole powerpoint presentation on the topic, and told them I was buying a bike regardless of how they feel. The only choice they had was which bike I would buy and I gave them a list of dual channel ABS bikes (not many in Singapore unfortunately for some unknown reason). They went for the Tricity (I had spec sheets for all the bikes I was letting them choose from and well 3 wheels > 2 wheels for stability.) I'm fine with it, especially since it is my first bike, however I've kind of gotten attached to the front stability so much that I might consider a Niken if I do ever decide to upgrade for touring (but it will depend on my financials when that happens, else I'd just opt for a cheaper bike)
I have a Tricity with a 183cc kit upgrade. Best thing to do. I use it everyday. It's now about 38.000 kms. Top speed is 130 kms/h and fuel consumption is 3l/100 kms. I also have a MP3 500 from Piaggio, but the Tricity experience is much better. Think about the 183 CC cilinder kit because it makes all the diference.
I saw multiple comments on accidents at low speed or not moving, its something about the balance of the bike and no it is not the lock system. Some people have 3 falls in a day, anyone owning one can share his experience?
Uh, if these people are falling 3 times in a day on this bike... I think they shouldn't be riding motorcycles. It's stupidly stable. In the vid section on lane splitting you can hear my comments on it. The only thing about this bike is that it is heavier than other bikes of the same engine capacity, so its a bit harder to move around manually by hand.

I am 17 and i wanted to know if it is worth paying double the price for extra safety and better acceleration. I'm thinking Yamaha tricity 300 vs 155 can anyone help
Hey there! I would say it depends. In my opinion the 155 is sufficient IF AND ONLY IF you spend most of your time travelling in the city. The issue with the Tricity 300 is that it’s really a lot bigger than the 155. So you will have massive issues filtering to the front of the road if needed. Also maintainence cost of the 300 is going to be far higher than the 155. So not only is the machine price 3x but the maintainence cost will also rack up pretty quick compared to the 155.
@@EigenMoto Thanks! I think ill consider it since i can then get better gear. I want to use it to and from school and i also wanted to know if it handles potholes well, because on the way to school there are a lot of potholes.

Personally, no. The bike is really heavy, it needs the extra power of the 155cc to be decent enough. The 125 edition probably can’t do well on highways.
Hopefully! Here in SG a lot of folks don't like the 125 cc edition due to the lack of power on highways, but the 155 does not have that same weakness, perfect for the city!
@marioidsouza Ah ic, I think for a lot of people in SEA, ABS is still not a necessity to a lot of them. I've had discussions about this and a lot of them still believe that ABS is not necessary due to cost so I kind of understand.
Hey! Im sorry to say that you still need to balance on it, but I would say it is FAR more stable than a normal motorbike. So to answer your question, no, if you completely cannot balance on a bicycle you still need to balance on the Tricity and it is a far heavier bike.
@@EigenMoto ah i see.. Dont see myself getting any bike. But maybe in future. Short + family dont really allow. But this 3 wheeler might be how i can start... Prioritizing safety thanks for reply

Personally, no. The bike is really heavy, it needs the extra power of the 155cc to be decent enough. The 125 edition probably can’t do well on highways.
Hopefully Yamaha wil bring the Trcity 155 in the Philippines like the do before with 125 model.
Hopefully! Here in SG a lot of folks don't like the 125 cc edition due to the lack of power on highways, but the 155 does not have that same weakness, perfect for the city!
@@EigenMotoalso I think the 125 cc does not have ABS but CBS brakes
@marioidsouza Ah ic, I think for a lot of people in SEA, ABS is still not a necessity to a lot of them. I've had discussions about this and a lot of them still believe that ABS is not necessary due to cost so I kind of understand.
Why not available in Malaysia
Haha I dunno man, maybe call up Yamaha official dealership and ask? Also I dun think this bike would sell as well as the Kupchai in MY.
Sir, is tricity good for people who don't know how to balance or don't know how to ride a 2 wheel bike? Please answer 😢
Hey! Im sorry to say that you still need to balance on it, but I would say it is FAR more stable than a normal motorbike. So to answer your question, no, if you completely cannot balance on a bicycle you still need to balance on the Tricity and it is a far heavier bike.
Would you get swap to tricity 300 in the future ?
Probably not. It's too expensive for a class 2A bike (29k machine price, class 2 bikes cost this much)
@@EigenMoto but triple wheels . Safety 🤔
So I assume you still need to put you feet down when you stop dead ?
Yep. The bike does not self balance!
Is this good for short rider ?
Im 158cm 😅
Yeah, it's good for short people. Just be aware that it is quite heavy for a 155cc bike!
@@EigenMoto
ah i see..
Dont see myself getting any bike.
But maybe in future.
Short + family dont really allow.
But this 3 wheeler might be how i can start...
Prioritizing safety
thanks for reply
How much po
SGD $8200 for just the machine
I wonder if it comes with stand-still assist feature.
No it doesnt. Only the 300cc variant of this bike does
@@EigenMoto Thank you
А у меня версия 2015 года и она весит 152кг) но там только 125сс
Максимум 110км/ч и то с горки по прямой 95-100
Я его испрльзую зимой до -15))
Wow, how does it hold up in the cold? Haha its always hot here in Singapore
@@EigenMoto вообще отлично) зимнюю резину поставил и вперёд) жалко нет датчика температуры, мне кажется он не выходит на рабочую температуру))
@@grigchannel6142 That's good to know! I think if you can, give the 155cc a shot. It definitely rides way better than the 125cc due to the stronger pickup (At least according to the riding group of Tricity owners who used to ride the 125 version)
But it's great that the 125 serves you well!
@@EigenMoto да уже задумался о 155сс особенно что есть тюнинг до 183сс
К сожалению у меня 2016 год и там стоит мотор не от yamaha nmax, а какой то другой
