Dude was a great guitarist and could pull it off live. The preening Mike Tramp typically comes to mind when most folks think of White Lion but those that really appreciated WL were huge fans of Vito. Excellent guitar player who def deserves more credit.
I agree that Vitto Bratta was yet another overlooked guitarist. The backbone of White Lion’s music. He’s another one of my favorite players. Very cool work! Thanks for sharing it!
For me Vito Bratta should be include in the list of top 100 metal guitarist of all time. He is so underrated virtuoso, great as Dimebag Darrell and Paul Gilbert. You can compare his tapping to EVH, although EVH was first to became popular with tapping, Vito's tapping is the best in melodic.
I agree! Most guitarists use tapping like a "trick" but Vito used it musically and melodically, which is much harder and WAY more impressive! : ) Thanks for watching!
Vito's taste, tone and time-feel are amazing. 13 y/o me listened to Pride countless times on my Walkman while cutting grass as a part time job. Thanks for reminding me of his greatness and teaching his techniques!
Chris Oliva very underrated, his arpeggios were killer. wish more people or magazines would buck up and admit that there were and are better players that existed than Van Halen
I think its really cool that younger players are discovering just how brilliant Vito's compositional skills were. He really was on par with the greats of that era.
My all time favorite. I ran into my buddy at the music store about a week ago and we started to talk about Vito, he mentioned his favorite solo was for Wait, I told him mines is Little Fighter, this dude grabs a guitar off the wall and played it to the tee and blew me away, so now I’m working on it.
New favorite guitar teacher right there. HIGHLY skilled, very chill, no frill. And in the course of the lesson, touches on some of my all time favorite guitarists - Vito, Reb Beach, EVH, Zakk, Randy. Awesome. Subscribed.
yea David Brewster certainly is an excellent teacher. I love the licks that are covered on these lessons over the years I forget so many licks and David hits on all my favorite and then some . I'm very grateful and will definitely be watching as many as I can .🤘
The most beautiful and fluid melodic solos ive ever heard. He was unique....they spoke and had so many emotions attached to those notes! Almost like a renaissance genius. Vito Bratta stands alone in the gorgeous note choosing category and beautiful melodic runs.
Thank you, really enjoyed your lesson. It was really refreshing. I knew/remembered every lick. For years all I listened to was EVH and Vito. Thank you again.
"We tried to do new White Lions with Warren DeMartini and Paul Gilbert and all these others, and no one wanted to do Vito. He was unlike anyone else, he had his own way of doing thing, and plus he was a great songwriter. Had he remained in the business, Vito would have been bigger than Steve Vai and all those types of guys. With him the melody came before anything else, and that’s nothing but the highest praise." Mike Tramp_
I never knew how much I loved Vito's style til you did these couple of lessons. Runs like these just sound so smooth. LOVE the way they carry me to where I want to go. You are a great inspiration and I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and skill with me (okay all of us)... Rock on my brother. Keep um coming !!!!!!
I put Vito into the same category of Chris Degarmo. It became all consuming to be at the top of their craft they finally just walked away from it. Could be wrong about that, but that was the way it seemed to me. This stuff doesn't just pop into your head, they put a herculean amount of effort into playing to become this fluid with it.
Chris degarmo has such a cool style really had a big impact on my style a lot of habits I picked up from him that just come out when I write. my little brother pointed it out to me a while back and after listening to my material II was like damn it sounds like a mix of zakk wylde Chris degarmo with a shade of satriani.
Every time somebody studies Vito, they realize he was more amazing than what they thought he already was. And I love to see that reaction. Loved your vid. Miss Vito
thank you so much david we all appreciate your time and effort for vito's guitar playing!!! ...he's truly underrated and his style and tone were totally orignal!! ...ciao bro \m/
Really glad that I came across your channel, you have a wide variety of vids from a lot of guitarist that other channels don't, keep them coming... and much appreciated.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Really enjoyed the commentary and playing. Please make more, especially on vito. He’s one of the most underrated players. You really brought to light his genius
Wow! You hit the nail on the head Modern Day Cowboy is exactly what I was thinking. Love that you’re an incredible guitarist yet you’re calm and patient. Ty

Akira is totally on the list and I've been thinking about Ronnie for months. We're totally on the same page my friend and these are coming ASAP! : ) \m/ ROCK ON \m/
Thank you Ronni Le tekro is so underrated and nobody ever talks about his wicked licks and solos☝️ caught between the tigers perfect example of speed and tasteful..
Sometimes I wonder if guys like you realise how blessed you are to have found your passion and to have the skill and devotion to it that has gotten you to where you are. My envy is extreme. To be able to play like that effortlessly would make me ecstatic beyond belief. Anyone have a time machine?
He really did/does. He has a great mind for chord progressions and arpeggios, so he also knows how to solo over chords intelligently and melodically, which is how it seems he was able to always hit the right notes at the right time, all the time. Thank you again! : )
A thousand thanks David....I loved Vito s melodic , singable solos , he really stood shoulders above many other p!Ayers. You've really done him justice in this lesson and your right there very little online or in print Redding to his playing.
Thanks Richard! It made me sad while I put this one together to notice how little there actually is surrounding Vito. I felt it was my duty to put together something special surrounding him and his music. Such a gifted player. : ) Take care my friend!
@@LateNightLessons My sentiments exactly David - it is sad , I listened to him being interviewed by Eddie Trunk a couple of years back on UA-cam and the guy seems so humble and decent - he really deserved greater recognition. I think he would be proud to see you lesson . Welldone.Have a wonderful day buddy.
Hey David thanks again for another awesome guitar analysis and giving tribute to Vito. I noticed what you mentioned in the beginning part of your vid. I read years ago an article mentioning that Vito in a sense prefected what EVH created. Vito has always been one of my favorite 80s shredders. It would be awesome to see him make a comeback someday. 👍
Thank you so much! I really would like to see Vito make a return to creating music, and judging by some of these comments and messages, there are A LOT of people out there would like to see that happen too! Thanks again and ROCK ON! : )
I really didn't notice it until I got in there and my hands got dirty with his music and ideas. Once I ignored everything except for the leads and licks (which honestly was really hard to do with those great rhythms - haha) it sort of clicked and I noticed it for the first time. I always heard traces of EVH but never really noticed those Randy-based ideas until recently. Thanks for watching and ROCK ON! : )
Randy Rhoads was my very first guitar hero when my 12 year old self first heard the Blizzard album a few months after he died. When White Lion came along, I had friends that couldn't stand them due to Mike Tramp's "whiny" sounding vocals (their words, not mine), but I only heard that incredible guitar playing behind him and was hooked for life. I've learned some Randy songs on guitar, but never even attempted any Vito because it seemed way beyond anything I'd ever play .. I never saw the connection between the two of them until you pointed it out. Thanks for that! I wonder if that's what subconsciously hooked me from the start :)
Thank you, David, for pulling this off! I just had some great flashback moments of my formative years as a (mediocre) guitarist, when I tried to adapt Vito's playing, which in the end never really succeded. But your adaption gave me chills to just try again. And again. What a tasteful player way beyond shred. Glad to have found your inspiring channel... Amazing playing, btw. Cheers, m. 🙂
Truly an underrated player. Vito took the groundwork that Eddie Van Halen had laid and ran with it, and his sense of melody was unparalleled. I can still “scat’ the solo from Wait thirty years later.
I agree and thanks for chiming in! That's the sign of a great solo - if you can sing it (especially 30 years later) then it's totally a keeper! : ) Thanks again and ROCK ON!
Late Night Lessons In that sense, I think Vito had much more in common with songwriters like Elton John than your typical 80’s shredder. He consistently made melodies that you could sing along with, and his phrasing was extremely lyrical. He never used his technique as a crutch for a lack of an interesting melody or idea. In a lot of ways, I think his playing transcended the type of band he was in.
Great job catching the essence and feel of his licks. He was so original with his approach and technique some of what you miss is his legato and hybrid right hand technique where you are doing more picking. But that’s why his sound is so his hands.
I know I am TOTALLY nitpicking here but anything Vito did while Zakk was in high school can't be "Zakk style". ;-))) All kidding aside, you killed this video man!! Brought back so many memories and you are 100% right, it is a bit sad he had such a short career. That's what happens with the legends. Not sure if it is better or worse that he is out there somewhere walking around with a bum wrist. It is like the big man upstairs says "you can only have this guy for a little while but then I have to pull the plug".
Thank you, but technically 'No Rest For The Wicked' came out in 1988 and Mane Attraction was out in 1991. Also, Zakk and Vito were/are sort-of friends and Zakk was notoriously known for saying how much he loved Vito's playing. I think Vito liked Zakk's playing as well and you can hear/tell that that lick came from Zakk's style, as Vito admitted himself that he had NEVER played anything like that solo until that song. Also, if you read interviews with Vito, you'll catch him saying "fast Zakk Wylde pentatonic licks" often from that time period. : ) Rock on!
Late Night Lessons all true. I actually went to high school in NJ with Zakk (although I was class of 86) and when Pride came out he loved it and has often said the solo in Wait is one if his faves of all time. Can’t wait to see more of your vids brother!!
Great as usual. Really enjoy and learn from your vids. It's moving out of the eighties a bit, but I'd love to see you tackle some Dave Navarro. Jane's Addiction blew me away in the late eighties and quickly became a favorite band. Got some some great guitar parts, unique for the times and always served the song. Thanks!
Vito was truly one of the all-time greats. Amazing sense of melody and “lyrical” playing
Excellent way to put it.._your spot on! So melodic, and as you said "Lyrical Playing"

Akira is totally on the list and I've been thinking about Ronnie for months.
We're totally on the same page my friend and these are coming ASAP!
: )
\m/ ROCK ON \m/
Late Night Lessons looking forward to it! Ronnie has such a unique tone on top of his ferocious playing!
Thank you Ronni Le tekro is so underrated and nobody ever talks about his wicked licks and solos☝️ caught between the tigers perfect example of speed and tasteful..
Ronnie Le Tekro is one of my favorites-TNT intuition and tell no tales-some great playing on those albums
Sometimes I wonder if guys like you realise how blessed you are to have found your passion and to have the skill and devotion to it that has gotten you to where you are. My envy is extreme. To be able to play like that effortlessly would make me ecstatic beyond belief. Anyone have a time machine?
Hey Dave,
AWESOME!! LIVE ON VITO!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much again!
Take care and keep on rocking!
Love your channel, my friend! Your playing is excellent and your instruction and delivery is outstanding as well!
Great lesson David,I always thought Bratta was underrated. He always played really tasteful licks and had a great note choice vocabulary.
He really did/does.
He has a great mind for chord progressions and arpeggios, so he also knows how to solo over chords intelligently and melodically, which is how it seems he was able to always hit the right notes at the right time, all the time.
Thank you again!
: )
David you are the coolest guitarist I love your vibe . keep em coming
Excellent video!!
Thank you!
: )
Vito is amazing. The Wait and Little Fighter solos are incredible
I agree!
He had/has such a gift of melody and expression.
A totally unique and underappreciated player.

Rock on!
Dont forget the solo in Love don't come easy !!
: )
Take care my friend!

Mystery solved, never considered Vito being a mix of Eddie and Randy. Two of my all-time favorite guitarist.

Such a glorious channel!!! I found you via UA-cam recommendation for your Van Halen chord video. Been engulfed since. Keep pushing!
Nice work Dave...really enjoyed your video.
Thanks so much Tony!
Rock on bro and stay tuned for more lessons and videos!

Cheers, m. 🙂
omg great lesson. great job!
Thank you!

: )
Thanks again and ROCK ON!
: )
Rock on!
Late Night Lessons all true. I actually went to high school in NJ with Zakk (although I was class of 86) and when Pride came out he loved it and has often said the solo in Wait is one if his faves of all time. Can’t wait to see more of your vids brother!!
I always thought that he kind of redefined Eddy’s tap playing. One of my all time favorites.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
I'll see what I can do with that request and thanks for watching!
Rock on!
Very cool!
Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Hungry !!! luv some EVH style licks, Vito was so amazing
This is really great! Thanks for uploading :)
Thank you!
