    Tasty Chance S is only good if you cook strong dishes

    16:25 Toxicroak is easier to find for two reasons: only A or B ingredients (No C) and also Croagunk is 5 pts vs 16 for Cramo

  • @22NightWing
    @22NightWing 7 місяців тому +5

    One benefit of Extra Tasty is that the increased meal strength also means the meal levels up quicker.
    So, whilst the increase for that one meal is mid, you get a passive compounding effect on subsequent dishes...
    That is, until, you reach the meal level cap (55 for the moment)... At which point, the passive bonus begins to no longer be relevant.

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +2

      Another reason I looked at L55 comparison strength so it can't level up

    Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the math for tasty chance S is slightly more complicated than that. I’ve heard that if you don’t get the meal crit, the bonus stays around until you do crit. So it would actually keep boosting until you get the crit which would make it slightly more powerful. But if it triggers again before you crit you can only benefit once for both triggers. I’m having statistics flashbacks lol

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +1

      Each trigger of TCS is 1.04x the meal strength.
      If you consider that if it didn't crit and it stacked the next trigger, you're actually asking what happens if 1 meal no strength boost, second meal getting 1.08x boost.
      1.04x2 is the same as 1.08x1

    • @pointeplusplus
      @pointeplusplus 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Bropenings but because that first meal still had the 4% chance to crit. The time that it gets passed on to the second meal comes out of the 96% chance to fail the first roll. So if you sum up the values * their chances, you still get bonus * .04 on the first meal and .96* no bonus on the first meal, but in that case you also have the additional bonus on the second meal.

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +1

      Thats a topic for a separate video.
      But the extra value needs to also consider the lost in value if you didn't crit by Sunday last meal.

    • @pointeplusplus
      @pointeplusplus 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Bropenings Yup! At least the cutoff for Sunday keeps us from having to go into an infinite series summation lol. But it also means that the tasty bonus is more valuable the earlier in the week it is. My stats brain is ready to nerd out to that video when it comes out 🤓🎉

    It's great that it gives us a potato farmer for Cyan Beach. I'm not very interested in mono farmers when I'm endeavoring to build island-specific teams that require minimal switching out with pokemon who aren't meant for the island.

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +1

      Thats an extremely long term play style. You'd need 16 ingredient specialist matching berry type of every island?

    • @MightyBigTalk
      @MightyBigTalk 7 місяців тому +4

      @@Bropenings it's not perfect for short-term but it makes each island a more unique experience. I don't often use my big bad Lactoise outside of Cyan Beach, so it's nice to see him in the limelight again. I'm playing because i love my li'l buddies. Maximizing points ASAP is not my first priority, as long as I'm reaching the Master 3, which I have been able to do by my second week with each new island.

    I have not been lucky at all on getting Dedeene. I'm Rank 54 with nearly all the ingredients unlocked. Cramorant would make a fine substitute for me. I was at Ultra 4 last night on Cyan Beach with a Slumbering session and it didn't show. I bought the M Bundle so I have 2 incenses, but I want to save them for later in the week. I'm just trying to encounter it without the items so I can snag it for sure by the time Sunday rolls arounds for the big "Keema Corn Curry" mix down!

    My shiny BFS toxicroak is double sausage so I still need an oil farmer. Plus my skill level 6 Dedenne never leaves my team so he wouldn't mind a buddy for even more crit chance

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +1

      Curiously, with Dedenne permanently on the team, do you run a healer?
      With 2 skills specialists on the team then you'd be short on berry/ing-farming helpers with only 3 slots left. And to make Dedenne actually good, you'd need 2-3 ingredient specialists to get the right ingredients. In your situation there wouldnt be much berry-matching berry specialists?

    • @Celegus
      @Celegus 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Bropenings I swap members on my team pretty often depending on what I need at the time. I probably use Wiggly 50% of the time, but the main focus is always making sure I have the right ingredients to cook the best dishes. That usually only leaves room for one dedicated berry specialist but has the upside of being able to perform just as well on any island. I find it much more fun this way! Turning Mareep candy into Dedenne this week, currently level 46 with HSM at 50

  • @Gairhoth
    @Gairhoth 7 місяців тому +1

    I think your stats aren’t taking into account a key factor for Tasty Chance S. If you don’t crit with the increased chance, that increased chance doesn’t reset, so simply increasing meal value by 4% isn’t doing it justice at all.
    By my stats, so long as it activates before Saturday, a single activation at 4% is the equivalent of about 28% of a meal’s strength by the end of the week.
    I’m sure you’re aware of this already though, and I look forward to a video going into more detail about it!

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +1

      2 meals with 4%
      1 meal with 8% + 1 meal with 0%
      Are the same result, which is why I said TCS is basically a strength addition *on average*

    • @Gairhoth
      @Gairhoth 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Bropenings I don’t think it’s as simple as adding the percentages in this case. With a single activation, it’s 4% of meal1 + (90%-4%)*4% of meal2 + (90%-4%)^2*4% of meal3 + … for however many meals remain, which is significantly higher than 4%.
      If you do get an average of one activation per meal, your maths does work out quite close, but this particular main skill appears to be very strong for its first few activations in the week, and then weaker later on

  • @ChandlerHikaru

    Since I feel that you're the expert on the Rate my Pokemon calculator.
    So, I only just started using the calculator to help me determine which of my pokemon were better between the BFS berry/ingredient specialist vs HelpS+HelpM+Helping Bonus berry/ HelpingBonus+Ingredient FinderS +Finder M ingredient specialist. So I use the percentile given by the calculator to determine which of the pokemon is better, example 1 pokemon got PR 99 is better than the one that got PR 97, right?
    My question are:
    A. When i tried comparing my cyndaquil 1 with BFS(L10)+HelpS(L50) &Impish(ingredient down) nature (Resulting in PR 89)& 2nd one with HelpS(L25)+HelpM(L75)+Helping Bonus(L10) (Resulting in PR 94).
    From what you and Piggy been doing while analysing I would assume my 1st Cyndaquil woulda been better, therefore i evolved it to max for entei event, but now I found out the 2nd one is slightly better despite the exp down nature, makes it harder to level up. Do you think my decision was for the best in this matter?
    B. Since i'm F2P my access to the rate my pokemon calculator is also limited to lv55, should i hold and trust following this PR method to figure out which is the best pokemon to keep or I would need to reevaluate new PR for all my pokemon again when/after the new level cap was released?
    C. I noticed that when I was rating berry specialist pokemon the calculator used the total strength of berry& ingredient, while when rating Ingredient specialist or skill specialist it switch over to ingredient strengths/skill triggers. So the PR rate is slightly on different leagues. So when i tried to rate Ingredient/skill specialist with BFS their PR drops significantly. Should i switch the PR category to total strengths ones whenever I rate a pokemon with BFs or should I have rated all my pokemon with total strengths everytime instead of following the calculator's default category for each specialist. Any insight/clarity you can bring for this matter would be much appreciated.
    P.S. Honestly I think Piggy's wisdom on just using all shiny on her team is the wisest decision of all. You don't have to rate and Nitpick them just use the one you're given/got. That's how life works anyway.😅😂

      The analysis for 2 pokemon that are both very good, requires intricate understanding. I recommend you use our discord to discuss, and one question at a time. 3 questions all requiring a lot of details cannot be covered in 1 comment and there are numerous situations where one may do better than the other, and other situations where it's the opposite. All players who want to understand the game and how good their mon are use production comparison or team analysis, not rate my mon. In PR you lose context.
      However to briefly answer your question without context:
      A - Your first Cyndaquil is very slightly better on berry output. Thus when matched fave berry it does better on berry strength overall. In fact, so much so that it is overall better. However when not matched fave berry, the HB option can beat it due to better output of strength in ingredients & skills. Also, none of them takes into account that your first one has ER up nature which is a good thing if you understand how it works with healing. There is no right answer without context.
      B - No, use production comparison. Do your best to understand this feature. PR has no context. Many times a lower PR just means you didn't look at the right context. I've personally never used Rate my pokemon feature. It's really for players who don't care enough about the game and just wants a quick dirty assessment.

    • @Bropenings
      @Bropenings  7 місяців тому +2

      C - I don't use that feature so I'm not sure, but I would use Production Comparison. if you want a true understanding, it's time to move to this feature.
