This song is a straight piece of revolt against death. Mind blowing. That climax. The rythm, the complete band. Perfect. Just perfect; We should send this to outer space.
Am 55 now and first heard mogwai on radio one John peel must of been 25 years ago I knew then one day they would be the greatest band ever as I am proud of being a Scottish loon my dad was from Hamilton and we are nowi as bad as people think this band make up for our lives faultz like being happy Indipendent and crazy I've drifted with mogwai for year s they make our lives worth loving living giveing my heart 💓 out Kik arse tunes respect the sound of the bag pipes it's being played on guitar 🎸 e l o
If not their best. I mean, this song as well as Batcat, The Sun Smells Too Loud, Thank You Space Expert.. It doesn't have Rano Pano but still, The Hawk Is Howling I still consider their greatest album.
Yes-great track! But I’m sure you’ve heard their-‘Hunted By A Freak ‘ from many years before? Even better in my opinion, possibly due, ironically, to the use of the distorted vocals on it ( although still NOT lyrics of course) .ua-cam.com/video/1zYXK73cOxM/v-deo.html
Saw them at the Sydney Opera House a few years back. We had great seats right up close and the usher offered me earplugs on the way in which I refused in a dismissive fashion. Big mistake, ears were ringing for a week after. It was a spiritual experience.
Joking aside, always loved these guys. more than a decade now... I think? I'm old. It's been a lifetime for sure. Excellent meditation and zone out jams.
I somehow didn’t notice the Hawk is howling for years. When I bought it I was disappointed by this song. But it has become my favorite Mogwai song and it still is
An incendiary performance. Seen them twice live, they really are a spellbinding act. Oh and one more thing, the only band I saw who were louder was Motorhead !!!!! You have been warned !!

Cat Myers is great. Saw them live and she blew my mind

One of the best tracks I've ever heard. So good, lyrics would do it an injustice...just close your eyes and drift.

This is so beautiful that it hurts. Just like GodspeedYou! Black Emperor, Mogwai speaks to and with the pure Emotions
2:51 The rise and evolution of song on a divine level...

Omg this is immense
Great song from a great album
Cat just absolutly made it all happen with kick and snare placement and those variations on a theme. Soulful, magnificent, mastery.
❤
Love the little guitar flourish (from presumably Stuart) at @5:26. It's not much but it's the icing on top of the crescendo
Si un día se levantan los muertos. Será con esta canción. Genial
Mesmerising
Magnificent

Piano too quiet in the mix, I dont hear Barry during the crescendo
Where's Martin?
He couldn't join them last year due to health reasons but I think he's back now. At least he played the drums last time I saw them in January

It's good of them to give a lesbian drummer a gig. Very post-new-wave, post-new-age, neo I gotta boo-boo HC. IIm
