Gluten Free Gingerbread Cookie Recipe:

Christmas Fruitcake
by Faith and Flour
1 lb chopped Candied Fruit
2 cups Flour
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Butter
2 Eggs
1/8 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 cup Whole Milk
1/2 cup Spiced Rum
1/2 cup Flaked Coconut
Dredge candied fruit with 1/2 cup of the flour. Cream butter and sugar: beat in the eggs one at a time. Add remaining flour, salt and baking powder. Stir in milk and rum. Fold in floured fruit, pecans and coconut.
Pack batter into 9 inch loaf pan (parchment lined and buttered). Bake at 300 degrees F for 2 hours. Remove from pan. Cool then remove paper. Wrap in rum-soaked cheese cloth and store in a tin. Enjoy!

I never use tape. It is very expensive and takes me too long to tape everything. I find that if I have a good angled brush I can paint the trim as well as I would with tape and ultimately takes less time if you account for the time it takes to tape.

You’re moving along well with your remodel. And how nice that you don’t have to live in it while you are working! My husband and I are planning a little remodel of our own. We are moving our dining room to the living room space, and turning our dining room space into a walk in pantry/butlers pantry. It’s fun to plan and make a space work for us. I want to include a desk area like you currently have for meal planning and household work. After 23 years in our home, it will be a nice change. Happy New Year!

check out a few of my videos. We have a lot in common. Home remodeling too. I am in the Midwest. Retired & bought a manufactured home 3BR 2 bath and remodeling and moving. Closing was rescheduled twice, moving at Christmas/Winter was not the plan, but it is working out o.k. since the weather has been warm. I moved from Ohio to Indiana. I have bunnies & chickens and I am building hutches/coop/garden. Lots of good stuff for the New Year. Looks like you guys are doing a great job. Working hard. Looking forward to seeing your place grow to what you want. I painted with almost the same color and put in wood floors. I also am planning to foster to adopt a dog once fence is up.

Happy New Year Robyn and family, your home is looking wonderful! I enjoy fruit cake too, although none of my family do. Do you make plum pudding in the US? It's like fruit cake but much denser and moist (unlike what you would normally call a "pudding") and is eaten as a dessert with brandy custard, traditionally. I look forward to my mum's pudding every Christmas! Delicious.

Hi Robin - I just can’t believe how fast your house is coming along. It probably seems slow to you. How fun for you to have Kyle, Lauren and your grand-puppy visit and how kind of them to help work on their holiday. My kids are like that too. Your Christmas menu sounded great. We had our traditional menu. It never varies one bit or people would be unhappy.. We have the turkey, dressing etc for Thanksgiving but for Christmas we have fresh fried Shrimp (you remember I live on the Gulf Coast and we can get shrimp right off the boat. My family loves how I bread them and the boys fry them outside so no smell. We also have potato salad, scallops squash, baked beans and hot rolls. Dessert is always Italian Crean care and fudge. Since this menu never varies I have a preprinted grocery list that I just pull out every year and am confident I will have everything. If I every mention changing anything everyone is in an uproar. Why would you change it, they say. HA!. I loved having the family but have really been struggling since Thanksgiving with not feeling well. Rachel came over yesterday and helped me take my Christmas decorations down. Couldn’t have done it without her this year. Look forward to see what your next video has to offer. I so look forward to them. You are a blessing. Love in Christ.

Unfortunately for me, 2022 didn't start on a good step. I overdid eating sweets and foods that I don't normally eat so I'm watching this from bed. Did have a nice quiet Christmas. I enjoy the time with our son, talking about memories. He lives in the main wing of our house but with his busy schedule we don't always have time to relax as a family. Happy New Year. Happy New year. Traditional Christmas cake in UK is rich fruit cake with marzipan and icing topping. My Yorkshire friend eats hers with a hard cheese (cheddar or wensleydale)!! A northern tradition apparently, that I hadn't heard of before.

Great progress on the updates. The dogs looked so happy. Most living beings enjoy having a companion. Still waiting on the job, but that may be a blessing since I've had to help more since Mom's surgery last month. She can't lift 5 lbs. so anything that heavy or heavier I have to move. Also, have to get higher things down for her since she's not supposed to reach far. I was also washing the dishes and doing the laundry until everyone else got sick. Everyone else here is coughing. It makes me want to isolate myself. Still have to do my own laundry especially since most of my Winter bottoms and dresses had to go. I'm becoming allergic to polyester. Fortunately, my flannel shirts are 100% cotton so I can keep them. Most of my fit and flare dresses had to go. I photographed 11 of my favorite outfits that have to go so I remember them. All of my tank tops had to go. Most of my T-shirts I can keep since they are cotton/spandex blends. I still have to take out the trash. Not much in our new house can be done until Spring. I think I will get a facial scrub. For some reason, since I turned 42, the parts of my skin that used to be oily are now dry and flaky even in warm weather. In fact, before I couldn't wear any creams or liquids on my forehead when it was oily. Everything would migrate into my eyes. Now my skin absorbs them. Oddly enough I can still see the pores on my nose. Lately, every time I wake up my forehead and nose are flaky even though I oil cleanse and moisture before I go to sleep. The normal parts are still normal. I've heard oil glands shut down in Menopause. I haven't had it yet but I should in a few years if it starts at the same age my mother did. I hope it doesn't change my personality. Mom was really mean back then. She'd make a smudge on the wall and then yell at us about it. She does have a dramatic personality. I hope I keep my calm. I doubt I'll stop being passive and easygoing. That gets stronger as I get older.
