1:38 Su 100Y uses same hull, I think. At lest same length
Please stop doing your dumb cursed thumbnails. They aren't funny or clever. You've been making the same joke for over a year. Stop it.
I love how he includes the detail that heavy is russian and spy is french
ofc cause dont anger the tf2lers
1 kromer plus
wut
I want tf2 phly content now lol
And I would have loved to see the scout as an m22
Man, being an engineer in the early 20th century would’ve been crazy indeed
being an engineer in the early 21st century is nuts aswell
Bro I see u on meadsys channel lmao
Welcome to the 21st century where everything this crazier
Ww2 leaders to engineers: go design cars go boom and planes go brr
@@casada70 if we are talking about tank engineering it's not, now pretty much every MBT is pretty much generic.
Fun Fact, this tank was used during the Soviet invasion of Finland in the late 1930's, while it was able to bounce practically anything that infantry threw at it, it was disabled by a Finnish artillery barrage and the crew of the SMK had to abandon the tank where it sat there for a few years before they were able to successfully recover it as it was far to heavy to remove from the battlefield in a combat zone, and it was due to this that the KV-1 beat out the SMK during the trials (which this invasion pretty much was)
Didn’t the kv1 come about by them removing a turret and shortening the hull of the smk?
Indeed my fellow tnk nerd
Yeah the SMK did come first, they didn’t like how sluggish it was so really the KV-1 is a shortened SMK
they were two competing designs but the kv1 came out on top
@@tws1man582 isn't the KV-4 just a SMK but better?
Then I believe they used the hull to make the su100y
1:34
well yes but actually no
the smk was a compiting design in the production and adoption of the kv1 strangely enough both companies came to a similar design, the difference being the smk had 1 extra turret, and presented it to the soviet army
the army deployed the prototype of the kv1 and the smk in the war against finland to test which one was better, the kv1 resulted to be the winner and got adopted, the smk prototype was lost too due to it not being able to move
later stalin needed something to break heavy fortifications and got the idea to use the kv1, several designs were made but in the end it ended with the adoption of the kv2, in limited numbers
the shooting range made a pages of history about it but the number of the episode escapes my memory
the T100 was also competing but also lose, because the SU100Y
@@magnum6763 wasnt the t-100 and the smk the same thing?, as in the t100 being another designation for the smk since the name (smk) came from the company that was manufacturing it
@@justacommonman5935 oh i see thanks for explaining it to me
@@justacommonman5935 Not only that, the T-100 had an extra turret in the back which was to house a Machine Gun (forgot the caliber). The SMK was considered the better tank of the two, but unfortunately the Prototype was disposed of and scrapped. The T-100 Hull however had its turrets removed and made into a casemate and housed a 130mm B-13 Naval Cannon from a Destroyer (forgot which one again). However, it was originally intended to have a high velocity 152mm and even a 100mm Naval cannon. But these were never done as there was only 1 T-100 Hull. And so the lovable giant we know as the SU-100Y was created which lives to this day at the Kubinka Tank Museum in Russia. RIP SMK tho cuz it was scrapped for parts.
@@magnum6763 no it got turned into the SU-100Y when the ussr needed spgs to help defend certain places
Also two T-100's were made but only one survived without being scrapped to be turned into the SU-100Y, the smk was knocked out of action during the winter war by a finnish anti tank mine after it got hit by a finnish howitzer in the middle turret's turret ring, then the crew of the smk had to go into one of the T-100's to retreat back to soviet territory, after neither t-100 could recover the SMK, some time later after they managed to push finnish forces back they were close enough to send some tanks there (forgot which ones) to tow the T-100 back to the kirov factory to have it repaired, then it got scrapped after being repaired and sitting there for some time
The SMK is one of the most fun tanks to play in the game for me. Picked it up in the sale with some friends and 3 of us towed eachother along so we became a 6 gun battleship.
I can't believe Kamichama heard my wishes and actually made you play the SMK. I had this vehicle sitting there for who know how long and told myself, "what if phly plays it? Nah, unless"
Godchama :clapclap:
Day 210: Phly, I challenge you to the conphusing aerial smokescreen challenge. Destroy three enemy aircrapht with smoke shells in a single game. Good luck. o7

Yawn lol
How about we leave the content ideas to a guy with more than 10 years experience rather than doing some incredibly frustrating task? lol
@@hazed1009 it had to be said
I saw the title and immediately knew what tank he was playing
Same, mister KV-2
Me too .
Could've been the t 35 too
I love the SMK, it's one of the best multi-turreted tanks, I always treat it like the KV-1S, but with double the firepower. Perfect for getting to the point and holding it against a team in the right spots. Surprisingly it's best ability is being sneaki cheeki breeki.
i would say it is the best multi-turret in the game right now .
@@Nonpain I would agree, but the T-35 imo is better at it's BR for what it can do :)
How can you be sneaky in this mammoth?
@@kirishima638 lol, you'd be surprised the areas an things you can get away with in the SMK when you know. OF course the biggest helper are city maps, or maps with towns. THEN YOU BECOME THE TOWN. ;) Also... majority of American and German Mains seem to be blind or deaf, or both!
1:38 SU-100Y
The T-100 hull was repurposed for the SU-100Y so that it would have some firepower
Edit: T-100 (not the SMK) became the SU-100Y. You can tell because the SU-100Y has a huge sloped engine deck. My bad, but still effectively the same thing and part of the same program competing against each other
I remember that old video when you had to kill someone with the back mg. Good times
SMK was actually one of the designs tested along with 2 KV-1 prototypes and 2 T-100 prototypes during the Battle of Summa during the Winter War with Finland. The SMK and T-100 were both twin turreted heavy tanks that were passed on because of performance issues attributed to their weight. There was only 1 SMK prototype ever built. One of the T-100s was converted into the SU-100Y prototype and never went into production.
Day 80: Phly, you should play the Hawk III Chinese fighter; 900lbs of bombs in a biplane at 1.0 that you can dogfight in after dropping. Totally balanced.
Always makes me chuckle when phly calls the Flakpanzer the Gepard lol XD
Haven't seen a PhlyVideo for so long, or played WT for a while either.
But I love the use of "meet the pyro"
I personally love the SMK, almost never gets 1 shot frontally, and is surprisingly fast. Also just amazing to get a full squad of them.
Thats not a kv1 hull but its similar in the shape as the SMK is the predecessor of the kv1. Just wanted to clear that up
It’s a T-100 chassis(on the SMK), the same one used for su 100y and a choice for a non built tank schematic, called T-103 with 130mm naval cannon. If you search T-100 tank a prototype SMK shows up with an older version primary turret.
You are awesome man love watching you shred the entire team each game lol
oh my god i cannot understate just how fun it is to find these in matches and just go straight through them with my Achilles, especially through the ufp
The SMK was part of a multi-turret test bed. They made the SMK, and the sister tank t-100. The t-100 was later turned into the 130mm su-100y
I dont even play war thunder and yet still watch this guy since he makes the game entertaining. Im not too good on keyboard and mouse so I had to play on console and the their are too many actions to map to the buttons. Still a great game though
1:38 Kinda. Su-100Y hull is from the other extremely similar tank in the same trial, the T-100. So pretty close.
Phly videos will always be the greatest way to start my Monday.
I enjoy watching these and laughing at the quality of enemies phly gets, then realizing that I'm that kind of dumb 83.97% of the time I play... what a vicous cycle I'm caught in
Honestly i love how the SMK is what inspired the hull for the kv-1s and 2 lol
Bought this thing during the sale and it's easily one of the best purchases I've made. It's genuinely just a really fun tank, and I say that as someone who usually doesn't care for soviet tanks.
A return of the TF2 voices! Amazing
12:41 The moment Gaijin decided to stop sponsoring Phlee.
The SMK was actually its own hull, developed as a possible replacement for the T-35, that was later developed *into* the KV-1. The hull of its competitor the T-100 would be turned into the chassis for the SU-100Y.
YES WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! THANKS PLHY!
KV-1 was the engineers "pet project", the SMK and T-100 (which was developed into the SU-100Y) were both required to be multi-turreted as they were replacing the T-35. The engineers knew that a single turret design was probably more practical but being Soviet Russia, you don't argue with orders. So they built the KV-1 on the side, and it preformed better than it's multi-turreted brethren, hence why it went into full production. Imagine a world where the SMK didn't hit a landmine and get stuck for months...
The smk has a unique play style if you load a certain amount of ammunition it just gets fires no ammo boom and it's a good charger in straight places
Love my SMK. Thing takes a beating and keeps on ticking.
1:37 there was a self-propelled gun, S-51, designed and built on the chassis of the KV-1S. Despite successful trials, the S-51 never entered mass production.
Love the SMK!
#30 Loving the Unloved: Play the lovechild of a Spitfire and a Mustang. The MB5 that even you hate.
Mr Stalin to mr Ivan as he puts the design schematic on the fridge “Ivan did you come up with this all by yourself?”
Ivan *hides the plans of the independent “Da”
Awesome, please more Landship gameplays.
if you struggle using the SMK then your not using it right, this is one of my first tanks i ever bought and it murders everything you rarely get 1 shot and it dominates an area in close to mid range at extreme, the tip is to get up close to short range fighting within say 200-400 yds to use it to it's best ability.
Phly!!!!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR AGES!!!!!
Dude.. my favorite tank. A great seal clubber. Also unstoppable in arcade.
I don't think they ever used the hull on anything other than this but they did make a huge hull for the "Kondenser" nuke cannon which is on display at the Moscow SAM.
Hearing "do you believe in magic" just barely fading in at the end of the intro.
Love the vids phly keep up the good work
Playing 3.7 and sees a flakpanzer 38: oh it’s not a whirly boo, it’s a *Gepard*
Keep up great work Steve bro injoyable 💕😎✌🏻
The SMK shares the chassis with the SU-100Y and was planned to be shared with the T-103, which was a blueprint/model only.
I think ConeOfArc has a video with some info on it.
i like how you are the only youtuber that makes warthunder videos
That intro was epic!
Yay finally more tank daily.
I think the closest thing in the Red Army to be reused was the T-100's hull, which was used later on as basis for the SU-100Y
The hull was used by two prototypes, the SMK and T-100, in which the T-100 I believe was later converted over to the SU-100Y
Hey phly! Great vid, hope you have a good day!
That intro gave me so much memories Someone wouldn't believe it
Day 139: Play the AR-2 with three 500kg bombs in Ground RB with BT-5, SU-122, ZIS-30 and Chaika... or play it at a higher BR...
Phly so I recently got back into war thunder no in 5.3 fought a tiger was scared to counter it but because of one your videos I just shot through the driver view port thank you :)
Do they ever do crew training sales? Because that's by far more expensive than anything else in the game... ...when you want all your crews to be able to drive all your vehicles. x_x
The kv1 is actually a shortened smk/t100. The su100y is also derived from it and i think the t100 prototype was turned into it
"these russian shells do some weird stuff"
that is called the hand of stalin, my comrade
it has been already over a year since you last played t114, time to give it some love
I find it funny that you pointed out the ammo bed in the L-11 turret, then got completely racked at 15:08 and it hardly did anything lol. I always get racked and survive in this thing
This is one of my FAV tank at this BR. Folks get a little flustered when they come charging around the corner and see this monster, just before they get double tapped!
The hull and suspension of the SMK is the inspiration for the KV-1
Love the vids
I think he absolutely nailed the decals on the tank
your's video preview pic is art
I already bought what I needed the IS-2 Revenge the M26E1 finished research for the Panther F and put what golden eagles I had left into researching the Maus
The SMK hull was later reused to make the SU-100Y so, fun
I believe the same hull is on the SU-100Y but I'm gonna have to check. Also Phlytastic work, keep it up, love your videos!
Shoot the left track as you look at the ARL, it will sometimes spall into the ammunition.
These intros are great
My favourite low tier tank is the pz3 br 2.7 and pz4f2 an g it is just perfect.
They sent the sole prototype, along with the sole prototype of the T-100 (the future Su-100Y) to help fight the Finns.
Ended about as well as you'd expect, the SMK (iirc) got stuck, and nothing (not even the T-100) they had could drag it out.
Either got left there in place a few months and then scrapped at the end of the Winter War, or destroyed by demo charges, can't off hand remember which.
The SMK was used with a Prototyp of the KV 1 in the Finland war but it drove on a mine so yeah it was a little bit in war but not much
When I heard the TF2 audio, I knew that this will be a good video.
The SU-100Y is the same hull
Not exactly, SU-100Y is base on T-100, a design to compete SMK for multi turrent super heavy tank, and thy both fail
@@henryak4700 oh yeah thanks for the clarification
Let’s goo SMK time!
that intro was incredible
Really happy about the 50% off sales going on rn getting the tiger today for only 60k SL
That Panzer IV at Normandy blew up like an InstaPot
Gonna slightly correct you about the start, Its a T-100 Hull, T-100 and SMK were competitors of the KV series, also the Su-100Y uses the same Hull. Well same hull with slight changes.
I knew it, as soon as i saw the SMK going South afircan tractor hunter i knew the SMK would be played :D
Fun fact, the KV-1 and KV-2 were developed at the same time as the SMK, but the SMK was so heavy and not able to maneuver, the KV-1 quite literally drove circles around it.
TF2 reference there is so good.
I honestly never use the 37mm for ground pounding. The 50 cals are so nice
1:45, i think the hull was used for the su-100y
14:24
That was pure stalinium shell. Do not ever try to question it ;)
very good tank and very agile and fast for its size good enuf armor took it 50% off worth it
Pls do a video on the leopard I btw love your work tysm for this type of content love it
Actualy it is older than kv1 i think... And was used in finland but got stuck and they had to wait for the other couse they cloudnt even unstuck its with normaly... And yes its hull was used as a base of SU-100Y a tank destroyer with naval 130mm B-13 gun from a destroyer.. Tru story...
The su 100Y was based on the second pototype of the smk called T100. Later in war they switched the two turrets to the su 100Y
Pretty sure the SU-100Y share the same chassis and is the kv prototype but I could be wrong...
Actually the smk cam first, but they did use the same hull except for the kv1 it was shorted so technically the kv1 is using the smk hull
PHLY! You switch so smoothly between cannons!
How did you do that without causing the camera to go to the selected weapon? Is that separate fire keys like on a plane?
Are there not any custom model + mission makers that could turn some of Phly's thumbnail vehicles into playable things?
Also: # 244 - Take the duck to the pond. (Hs.129 b-3 in naval battles)
I believe there are, I remember when one guy once made p1000 landkreuzer ratte and you could drive it and do some missions with it.
@@broderzzcompany You're right! Wasn't there also some huge sci-fi plane as well, that had an insane amount of ai turrets?
Crazy huge things like the Ratte are nice, but I think a LOT of the thumbnail vehicles are worthy of creation too. Like a chubby little biplane but the body is made from a scaled-up Fritz-X,. Or some odd "landship" tank with multiple turrets, and the chassis is an actual boat up on tracks.
I haven't gotten to try any new maps since red desert I've just been getting the old ones
FINALLY THE SMK
