First thank you for watching! I got to Fortis institute. I would make sure that the school you attend is accredited, mine is CODA accredited. I would ask to see if the school has a long waiting list as well as if they allow you to shadow someone in the clinic. This will let you get a feel for how it will be. I didn’t want to wait long so I went to fortis because the other program I was looking into has a waitlist up to 3 years. Cost of course is a major key, if you already have a degree your FASFA might not be much help, as well as you might be able to to some prerequisites at a community college to keep costs down There’s so much more so I suggest calling, emailing the school you’re interested in as well as joining the Fb group dental hygiene students, they ask wonderful questions and provide so many different answers

Hello! I am interested in becoming a dental hygienist and Im wondering if it is required to have an associate's in specifically dental hygiene. I am currently working to get an associates in biology, and Im wondering if that will still work? Will dental hygiene schools accept any kind of associates?
Hello! That’s a great question! You can have any type of degree, biology is a great one to have in the long run. I have a degree completely unrelated to dental hygiene and I got accepted, so your good! And best wishes to your on your new journey!
Hi. I love your video! DH is one of the careers i want to be! I am just trying to think what i really want to do rest of my life! I live in arkansas but there is only two DH schools in my state. I really want to work in Arkansas after graduated. How many dental hygiene schools can i apply? Is there any limit? If i attend a school in texas, i only can take a Texas board exam?? Or i am allowed to take Arkansas board exam even though i go to school in texas???
Thank you so much for your support!! Dental hygiene is an amazing career choice! I say apply to both programs, you can never apply to too many programs so you’ll have options (no matter what state) I believe Texas takes both license credits and cita. Depending on your license you can work not only in Texas but in the majority of the u.s. I suggest googling what states take what license. Meaning Texas and Arkansas might have the same license so you’ll only need to take one test for the both of them. But like I said please research it just to be sure
There are a few ways that you can become a, hygienist. 1.enroll in a community college/school that offers an associates. 2. Bachelor program 3. Become a dental assistant and have ask if a dentist office will sponsor you and put you through hygiene school which, is known as a preceptorship. You’ll have a contract where most typically work for days office for a number of years Associates and bachelors are really the same. If you have a bachelors you can teach, but that’s really the only difference
I'm very interested in this field of work. My only concern personally is someone like myself able to pass as I have a learning disability. If anyone has passed with this please let me know! I really want to pursue this and not fail.

I don’t mind! They are protective barriers, for the common places we touch while cleaning teeth and instruments we can’t really clean with wipes

You can literally do anything!!! I would just get your impairment on paper so that the school can make some adjustments for you!
