2022 Nissan Pathfinder SL | And Now, The Rest of the Story

  • About a month ago I had my first opportunity to drive the all-new 2022 Pathfinder and I spent most of my limited time with it slogging through the mud. Now, not only was that a lot of fun but it proved that Nissan had resuscitated some of the Pathfinder’s lost ruggedness. You can check out that video by clicking the link up above. And now I have the Pathfinder in my possession for a full week and I have found mostly hits and only a few misses.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 223,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

Test drove one today in the Platinum trim, I thought I had made my mind up choosing the Mazda CX-9 Carbon Edition but the Pathfinder was levels above the CX-9 in almost every category, more room, especially in the third row, better equipped, third row air vents and USB ports, I’m 5’10 and fit completely comfortable in the third row, wireless car play, multiple camera angles made parking a breeze, tech wasn’t even close, the only thing Mazda outshines the Pathfinder was on the highway, it passes with ease, the Pathfinder lagged a lil. Good and honest review.

You are right on it! The throttle response is terrible on this pathfinder! But everything else is better than Cx9. But Cx9 feels much faster. The turbo really kicks in on that thing!

    • @juanr4913
      @juanr4913 3 роки тому

I agree. My cx9 gets premium gas so I can get that extra 20 or so HP compared to reg gas. My lease is up soon and I’m contemplating the pathfinder. Small things like no remote start and no pano sunroof bother me as well. The driving dynamic is awesome though and the torque is really high. I need to test drive the pathfinder soon.

I owned a 2006 Pathfinder back then. Loved the rugged look of those models. I'm glad they're going back to that. I may wait until the end of the year or possibly next year to see what kind of incentives they offer to get rid of their 2022s.

Nissan has done something great/amazing as they've caught the eye of the Mrs and is interested in a Pathfinder again. Had an 04/R50 PF and she misses it. Glad Nissan has seen a glimmer of light and realizes that the cvt is not the answer they were looking for.

Not dealbreakers but to address the "issues" Nissan missed:
The nissan fob should have an open liftgate option.
    Passenger seat height:
I have lifted seats by adding a bushing to increase overall height. It will not be adjustable on the fly but will nicely suffice until addressed by nissan/aftermarket. (Might even add comfort depending on material lol)
Definitely adding a little boost of hp somewhere but thats a personal choice, not necessary.
If truly needed, a warranty approved lift kit/tires that do no't sacrifice ride quality...again, personal, many new suvs suffer ground clearance minimums as most only see pavement/minor unpaved roads.
Disclaimer: Not responsible for anything anywhere regarding this comment lol

Great review 👍, however I don’t want a height adjustable passenger seat. Someone passengers would just adjust the seat heighten and get in the driver’s view when looking too the right. No complaints but wish it would have came out last year before I did my lease. 20 yr old XTERRA and it was running great. Not the biggest car guy but nice to see Nissan realizing it needed to upgrade the Pathfinder because it has been lacking and when a non car guy knows that it has to be significant. I had the AC set to recycle the air from the inside air with AC button pressed and had it set to the lowest setting which was 60 degrees and the air did not feel crisp enough and would get warmer when u slowed down ,I also un pressed the AC button and that did not help..I own a 2015 Pathfinder SV and the air gets colder in it when I have it set to 70 degrees with the air being recycle from the inside air and the AC button is not pressed..Needless to say I was disappointed..matter of fact we help my mother in law buy a Nissan 2021 Kick last week and the AC gets colder then the New 2022 Pathfinder..Nissan please fix...Here in Texas if the AC isn't cold enough then nothing else matters with all the other new features...I definitely recommend testing one out on a HOT day before buying one..

I like these cars an the style comfortable insides. But the low profile tires are not off road worthy. Nissan is not the only ones a lot of others has same problem. It wouldn't have to have 35or 37 just a regular tire with a little space between you an ground. Low profile tires are road worthy only.

My daughter owned a 2011 Nissan Altima that the empty console caught on fire and burned the entire front seat area during the night in our driveway. Nissan corporation's response... "it's is older than 4 years so we are not legally obligated to investigate the cause." Lawyer said I would lose thousands trying to sue them for reimbursement and endangering my daughter's life. I WILL NEVER OWN A NISSAN AGAIN!

@@stevehammes I bought one of these in the SV trim. It's my first SUV. I have 1500 miles on the odometer and I love it. My only complaint is that start/stop feature. I wish it could be permanently disabled. If it needs more get up and go i'll just put it into its sport mode setting. And i'm not worried about the low non adjustable passenger seat because I won't be sitting over there anyway. I like your reviews better than Raiti's Rides. He's good but he yells too much and is always going on about how many twinkies can fit in the vehicle. So annoying.

This is not good enough in this competitive class

Not good enough? Lol. It tows 1000 pounds more than the competition, which is needed for comfortably towing many small rvs. It has easy access to third row even with a car seat, has a great awd system, plenty of cargo room, has "wireless" Apple car play, and subjectively looks way better than all the competition. I genuinely wonder what you think is not good enough, bc the way I see it no other car in this category fits the bill.

Comments abound about it’s mediocre power, poor suspension, extremely weak A/C, non adjustment passenger seat. These are not ticky-tack issues. Does Nissan think we are gullible and can be swayed by only the cosmetic styling ?! It’s a car and should “function “ properly! I think Nissan engineers are cheaping out on important features
