    Watching this during COVID-19, the new depression, and nationwide protests. I’m really hoping this is the crisis because I don’t think the country try can take much more.

      This is only the beginning all other turnings into crisis were much worse than what we have seen so far during this one. Hang on, right now we are in a waiting period for the elections. That will be the spark that sets off the true crisis we will be facing. The political and social divide in this country is greater than its ever been and will come to a head after the election.

    Neil - I read the 4th Turning back in the 1990s. The book stated that the 4th Turning would probably begin around 2005 with a major event. When 9/11 happened I was convinced that this was the beginning of the Turning. You have chosen the financial crisis of 2008 - Why? I think 9/11 had a far larger impact on the mind of the US and ushered in a period of national fear and government surveillance. This also began the era of Facebook, Google, Twitter etc. These firm didnt exist in 2001

    I think there are cycles in everything, but there also are a lot of random events. Generation X grew up in tough times and aged into good times mostly, the 90s were a good time to grow up in, the 2000s not so much, the baby boomers were lucky enough to grow up in stable times and then age in mostly good times to build up retirement income, there is no set cycle that says this type of generation is born after another

    • @empemitheos
      @empemitheos 5 років тому +1

      Also, he makes a claim that there are 15 years left in this 'turning'(2031), I don't know where he gets this number but for people like me who actually study debt and population cycles, he's way off, we have until at least 2040 before we can even think of some level of decent growth rates and most likely 2050-60, it will take that long to rectify current debt levels and for productivity/technology to catch up to where it needs so that we can improve population growth, between now and then there will be difficult periods.

    • @shnetwork409
      @shnetwork409 3 роки тому +1

      @@empemitheos They're rough estimates. When you're dealing with archetypes you can only make generalized claims. It could last until 2030, or it can be until 2040. And then there's the ones referring to the clean up period after the mess.

      1. Hard times raise hard workers 2. Hard workers raise spiritual seekers 3. Spiritual seekers raise nihilist 4. Nihilist collapse society and out comes the new generation of hard workers. There is only one time in 80 years where there is "hard times", the collapse is upon us now.

      Their first book Generations describes every generation since the puritan generation, more in depth, and the authors give good insight into what our current generation's roles are going to play in the remainder of our cycle. Their second book Fourth Turning goes more in depth about how generational change is like our Earth's four seasons and how ancient and biblical societies viewed their world in more generational terms then we do in modern times.

      The most the baby boomers have done is to be lucky enough to grow up in the most prosperous period in American history off the backs of the generation that came before them, they will also be known for causing the coming retirement crisis.

      He is trying to compress a book of theory down into a short video. That is why he seems to be using buzz words.
      If you read the book it would be a lot more detailed than that.
      Also try watching the movie Generation Zero which is not the theory of the fourth turning but uses the theory to analyse the world we have.
