Using the autopress I figured out you need a bigger heat press pad because the one that comes is to flat… There’s a gap with pressure with smaller pad… when using bigger pad the pressure was great… Also there’s a 30 degree difference than what’s on the screen… If you need 300 hundred put it on 330
Thanks for another informative video. I was on the fence about this press. I love the cricut products, but this was out of my price. It’s good to know that there are some things it doesn’t do well with, so I don’t have to feel bad about purchasing a less expensive press.
Thank you so much for this videos as well as the other ones. I have the 9x12 siser heat press that you have featured in your videos and I love it thus far with the exception of the size. Thank you for pointing out the fact that this press has those rounded edges on all sides that would definitely impact trying to press an item almost the max size and square shaped.
After watching one of your videos I did try one of the transfer papers for light fabrics.. I bought a 'compatible' brand from my local supplier which turned out to be Neenah!! The first press was a total fail.. With second and subsequent presses I took a small wooden chopping board ( firm surface) , wrapped it in butcher paper (parchment paper), put it inside the garment then leant heavily on my Easy Press. Excellent results! Great transfer, bright colours and no ink left on the paper. Great for the occasional project but exhausting!!
Thanks Angie for this video. I was hoping you would demonstrate pressing a design on a t shirt that was larger than the Cricut Autopress to see how it’s done or if it can be done.
Thanks for all your hard work!!! I watched your first video and loved the results. I think this is a great press but it wouldn’t be so great for those that want to really expand their product output. For the basic home user, this would be great. (Except for the price 🤷🏻♀️)
I have one; but have had numerous error messages and inconsistent heat…after watching many video; a lot of people are complaining that the heat you set it for isnt being reached. It is off by 30 degrees..which makes a huge difference! I’m curious if you are able to test your heat and report back. Might be taking mine back; heat press nation has a better and more consistent model for 1/2 the price.
Angie, if you were only able to have one heat press (not counting the Cricut Easy Presses), would you spend the money for the Cricut Autopress or would you look at a larger platform heat press with similar features? HPN's 15" x 15" or even 16" x 20" has the auto open feature and is less or the same as the Cricut. I don't want to make the wrong decision!
I got my Cricut autopress last week and love it so far! I am interested in trying the puff vinyl. Is there a brand that you feel works well with the autopress?
I have tried my cricut autopress , sublimating photo slate blanks. Sometimes it works and sometimes I get white spots or blurring (especially if a person is wearing black in the picture. I press it at 385 for 420 seconds. It is not very reliable. Is there a trick to it? I have tried putting the sublimated picture on the bottom, then the slate, then the butcher paper - I have flipped it and put the slate on the bottom with the picture on the top (where the lid comes down) and then the butcher paper. I have tried it with the green heat mat. I am pretty frustrated. I have had a couple turn out (and they are gorgeous, but I have had many more failures. I don't know if it is the time, the procedure or the picture. I have a sawgrass 500 so that shouldn't be the problem. Any advice??? Thanks so much.... Tory Hoss
Yes I agree it can be an issue. Did you try a different mat under the slate instead of the autopress mat? I do wonder if the autopress has enough pressure?
Hi Angie! Thanks for all the Cricut Auto Press videos. I am planning to get it for DTF application on shirts. Do you think it will work well with DTFs? Or have you tried it with DTFs?
@@AngieHolden Thanks so much for the reply! It usually requires medium to hard pressure. I really wanted the Auto Press but I guess it might not work for me.
I am removing the mat and using a Nomex pad which is stiffer in most cases. The autopressure means that it does not matter how high it is. I did try one thing with no mat at all and that was a total fail.
Hi Angie! I'm curious, now that a bit of time has passed, have you been able to make any time and temp adjustments to improve the results of the heavy pressure blanks that didn't work so well in the auto press initially? The issues around heavy pressure is the only thing keeping me from making this investment. Appreciate your insight!
I have done a few more and yes I have had some success. To be honest, I just kept my other press for this purpose to not have to experiment all of the time.
I realised through trial and error that the autopress needs two pads to get the correct pressure… You have to order a second pad… Anything you press needs to be 20 degrees higher than the recommended temperature and all your designs will come out perfect… Before you post negative reviews about a product figure it out… The extra pad gives it great pressure
This was unnecessary. I have tried additional pads and I don't see a difference. You can play with the temperature if you would like but this was JUST to test heavy pressure items at the time and temperature recommended for each.
all these auto press machines are pretty crap for someone who wants it to do everything like a normal press, the htvront version is not good, there is also a aonsey press that is auto pressure that is the same
Great tutorial Angie. You work out all the problems for us.

I definitely DO NOT have a 30 degree difference.
@@AngieHolden when I watched your video you’re scanning pad with heat gun… An expert said that wrong

I do like that Siser but I have been looking for something larger as well. It is pretty limiting.
@@AngieHolden would you say with the rounded edges it’s the same size as the 9x12 Siser?
Another brilliant and informative video. I love that you share the successes and er... not so successful projects. It really does help.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love you making all these tests for us. Thank you. 🤗
Any time!

Interesting! I may have to come up with something for that!
Thanks. Very informative. Love the paper tablet!!!
Me tooo!!
Have been wanting to try Puff HTV. Thanks for the tips and another informative video.
Puff is so much fun!
Do I need a special blank for the glass cutting board? Loved the video 🤣
Yes. All of these are sublimation blanks. They all need a special coating to be able to sublimate them!
Great Video...I can't wait until my press arrives. Have you tried sublimination or HTV on a canvas frame?
I have done it on my other press but it would work the same. Here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/ZHDbbtlMzlE/v-deo.html

Couldn’t you add a pressing pillow to get more pressure? I just got the auto press and just wondering.
No. It doesn't work like that. It applies the same amount of pressure regardless of the thickness.

I haven't noticed inconsistent heat or an issue at all!

I don't think you can go wrong either way really! I would look at each, the size, the weight, and decide which makes more sense for your space!
I got my Cricut autopress last week and love it so far! I am interested in trying the puff vinyl. Is there a brand that you feel works well with the autopress?
You will have to experiment a bit I think. Probably pressing for a longer time perhaps.

I couldn’t find what size and thickness you purchased the nomex pad?
1/2 inch thick and I have a large one to cover the bottom of the Autopress.
Wow thank you so much for doing this video!!!
You are welcome!
Hello do you find after time using the autopress you can start to hear the rollers as you close it like it's kinda rubbing
Not that I have noticed!
Angie do you have any idea how you can do say a Santa plate on the auto press?
I don't think you will be able to.
THANKS
No problem!
I wonder if I bought another auto press pad and used two would it help with more pressure?
No it does not increase pressure.
Shoot, I had hoped this would work. Oh well, thank you Angie.
Hi Angie! Thanks for all the Cricut Auto Press videos. I am planning to get it for DTF application on shirts. Do you think it will work well with DTFs? Or have you tried it with DTFs?
I have not used DTF specifically. I would only be concerned if they call for heavy pressure.
@@AngieHolden Thanks so much for the reply! It usually requires medium to hard pressure. I really wanted the Auto Press but I guess it might not work for me.
I have had luck with medium pressure items but I think it would be a risk.
What is the actual largest size the Auto press can handle? It says it’s a 12 x 15 press, but how close to those edges does it properly heat to press?
I have been okay close to the edge. Now the corners are VERY rounded. So you definitely can't go full size with it.
Question when doing heavy pressure removing the mat may help because it is harder? What about a pressing pillow?
I am removing the mat and using a Nomex pad which is stiffer in most cases. The autopressure means that it does not matter how high it is. I did try one thing with no mat at all and that was a total fail.
