This is very true. Heroes are not someone with superpowers, but people who are courageous and put themselves at risk to help the community without expecting personal gain. Superman is a hero, of course, but he also shows the other qualities, not just superpowers. You don't have to have powers to be a hero, but having powers doesn't mean you're not a hero. What I'm saying is that ANYONE can be a hero.... Unless you are purely evil.
I appreciate the content - courage is all about stepping up not just for yourself, but for others. I tie in this idea w/ a parenting twist in the last video on my channel. To you reading this, step up & use your courage for the greater good - be a hero!
For a book, I plan to write. The setting is atop a building. Two Superheroes are looking at the skyline of a large city. One, a speedster, is conflicted about his role. The other, his mentor is trying to change his mind, or at least straighten him out. Let's call the Speedster Mike, his mentor, Philip. Calm. Quiet. But not at peace. Mike looked far out across the skyline of Acria City. The sun had set just a moment before, leaving the last remnants of its light on the western sky. Philip walked up behind him, stopping a few feet away. He knew Mike was troubled. He always had, but he never said anything. Until now. "Mike," He said, a simple greeting. "Hey! Philip! What are you doing here?" Mike said as he turned around, trying to hide his thoughts from Philip. "I was going to ask the same thing," Philip said. It was too easy to see Mike's thoughts written on his face. "I'm just..." Mike sighed "I don't know what to do, Philip. I try to hard to 'fight for good', but I feel like I'm alone. I try so hard to make a change, but... Philip, have you heard their minds? You don't have the trouble of listening to their pain, helpless to calm them..." Philip understood, even if he didn't have Mike's speed and mind reading. "Mike, you can never truly save everyone. But think of those people you do change. Being a hero isn't about saving everyone, it's about standing for a cause. A GOOD cause. There are people out there who have risked their own lives to save another. They stood up for a good cause, even if they were famous for a short moment. They stepped up when they needed to. They can't save everyone. I can't save everyone, and I am probably the most powerful of us two. But Mike? never stop trying. Don't stop saving people because you can't save them all. If you do that, then you definitely won't save everyone. A hero isn't defined by who they save, or how many. They are defined by their willingness to die for another, to risk all they have so that someone else can keep theirs. Strive to die, to give up yourself for someone else. Strive to take every risk if it will save even one person. Once you do that, then you are a hero. And, mike? Comfort those in trouble. Sometimes, a kind word can heal. Some people don't look like they need saving, but they will when they fall, and then, it will be too late."
Alot of people now and days have forgotten what a hero is. A hero isn't someone that catches a ball, not someone that can lift heavy objects, or that stands infront of a camera. A hero is someone that leaves there home everyday knowing that they might not come back because they are protecting those who need help. Heroes like the NYPD and the NYFD on 9/11. Never forget
You're right... every "public servant" and soldier is called a hero. This word IS over used. I wouldn't down Micheal Phelps for marijuana use, but he's certainly not a hero.
You can't define what a hero is. It's up to each individual to come up with their own perception. What some call heroism, others might just call civic duty. or even stupidity. The word hero has lost some of it's meaning, but it's still a pretty powerful word.
Listen guys, the pilot himself said that he wasn't a hero due to the fact that he was the pilot, and that as a pilot he just did his job. So are everybody that do their job well heroes? No, they are not. Are they good human beings? Yes. Is he a skilled pilot? Yes, without a doubt. If everyone is a hero nobody is. The term hero is used far too much these days and the word has lost its meaning.
@percyjacksonfan10 you are correct my sis thinks that their lame and McDonald is a hero it not think what happen to Jay Jonas and the police that lost 16 police in ever level.

I like the quote from MASH, " a hero is somebody who is too tired, hungry and cold to give a damn {about himself}"
