      Hello Vilma and thank you for stopping by to watch our show about this lovely hydrangea table runner! We got our bars of foam from our local floral wholesaler, but if you search on-line for OASIS® Spray Bar, it should come up and you may be able to order it directly from OASIS Floral Products. If you have a floral wholesaler near you, you can ask if they carry it or are able to order it for you. We hope this helps and if you decide to create this marvelous arrangement, please let us know how it goes for you. Sending you best wishes and hope you have a delightful week with flowers!

    Thank you so much for your inspiration and instructions! I’ve been looking for this information. I have a few questions, What type of wood did you use for the runner and the piece flowing over towards the floor? What is the width of the board? Does it come precut or would you need to have it cut according to the covered oasis? I’m also interested in your classes.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  Рік тому

      These are all excellent questions, Natasha! We created this video a few years ago so things might be a little different now, especially with supply chain challenges. The wood was a lighter weight pine, and the boards were cut according to the dimensions of the floral foam, which are 12 inches long by 3-1/4 inches wide x 3 inches high. You might be able to find pre-cut boards that work for these dimensions depending on what's available at your hardware store or lumber yard. The wood is a great way to stabilize the design and protects the table as well. Thank you so much for watching our show and spending a little time with us. We would love to have you join us for our courses, and we would be happy to chat with you about them at your convenience. Feel free to give us a call at 1-503-223-8089 or e-mail us at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com. You can also find out information about our courses here on our website: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/ We offer both in-person and on-line courses so you can choose what works best for you. Some of our students mix it up and take one course on-line and another in-person depending on their schedules and availability. We hope all of this information helps, and we look forward to speaking with you whenever it works best for you. Best wishes for a marvelous weekend and hope it is filled with flowers too!

      That's an excellent question, Michelle! Leanne uses Quick Dip for hydrangeas along with alum, which is a pickling spice found at the supermarket. Quick Dip is a rapid hydrator which causes flowers to drink a lot of water. We have it available on our website along with flower food if you are interested: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_17 Once you give the hydrangeas a fresh cut, then dip them in Quick Dip and alum, you should place them in a bucket with clean water and flower food and let them hydrate overnight so they will be fresh and beautiful. Hope this information helps. Thank you so much for joining us for this show, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Have a wonderful week!

    Hi Leanne! Thank you for the great video! I’m wondering how would I put this on a table without the table cloth soaking up the water from the foam? If I prepare these one day before, would the table cloth still suck up water from the foam?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  6 років тому

      Even though these techniques are designed to prevent water leakage you should never place a centerpiece on a table without a waterproof barrier between the arrangement and the table. This can be a simple as a piece of plastic garbage bag.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  4 роки тому

      That's an excellent question, Claudia! It helps to know the length of the table so you can determine how many bars you would need. For this piece, Leanne used 14 hydrangeas in each 12" bar. Of course, the number of flowers you would use would depend on the size of the hydrangea blossoms, which could be smaller or larger. Thanks very much for watching our show, and we hope you will join us again for more floral feasting fun!

    How do we cover the back/side of the board to protect people from seeing the part hanging to floor?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 роки тому

      That's another excellent question, Thebee2345 Ch! You have options as to how to cover the back of the board. You could paint it green or in a color to match the hydrangeas you are using. You could also cover it in leaves and use a flat leaf that will give you a lot of coverage like fatsia or galax leaves. You can glue those to the back of the hanging board so that it becomes essentially invisible to the guests at the special event. We hope these ideas work for you and we would love to hear how it all works out for you. Wishing you all the best and please have a pleasant week with your projects!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 роки тому +1

      Your questions are marvelous, Thebee2345 Ch! The weight of the design should keep it in place, but you might also consider keeping the hanging part well above the floor so someone would be less likely to trip over it. If you decide to make this fabulous table runner, we hope that it is a positive experience for you. Thank you very much for taking the time to join us for so many of our shows. Hi,
    Need
    your help. My son is getting married and I wanted to know how many days in
    advance can I make the garland. What process should I follow: collect the
    greens from the florist in the box direct from the farm and make the garlands
    and then for example the wedding is on Saturday evening so give the greens a
    good drink on Friday (dunk them totally soak in water)? OR do I give them a
    good drink of water and then make the garlands. These garlands will be place in the cool basement

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  4 роки тому

      These are all good questions, Cheryl! You can usually make the garland a couple of days ahead if you have a cool space in which to store it. It is always best to hydrate your flowers and foliage first before you design as it helps them look fresh and beautiful and last longer too. Hope you found this show helpful, and thank you very much for watching! We look forward to you joining us again soon.

    How many blooms were used for that runner the fell over the side of the table

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 роки тому

      That's another interesting question, T. Marie! Leanne was using approximately eight hydrangeas per brick of foam (your number might be different depending on the size of your flowers) and she lashed two bricks together for the side piece so that would be approximately 16 hydrangeas give or take. Again this requires measurement - the length of the table, the height of the table, the length of the foam bricks, and the size of the flowers. We hope this information helps and strongly encourage you to do a test run with a brick or two before you need to create this design. Thanks very much for taking the time to learn more about hydrangea table runners and we hope to see you again soon whenever it works best for you. Hope all goes well with your planning and designing and please be well in all that you do!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 роки тому

      That's an interesting question, T. Marie! Leanne didn't use extra foliage for this design; rather she used the leaves from the hydrangeas to fill in and cover the foam where needed. You could add extra foliage but the amount need really depends on the size of your bricks and the size of your flowers. It's a good idea to do a test run with a single brick and count the number of flowers and foliage you use, then multiply that by the number of bricks you will be using for your table settings. Thanks so much for watching our show and we hope that we'll see you again very soon for more marvelous floral design with Leanne. Best wishes to you for a wonderful week!

    I'm wondering how would I add water to the arrangement if it's in plastic? Won't hydrangeas drink all water quickly and dye?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  5 років тому

      The hydrangea are in floral foam that is wrapped in perforated plastic to help stop it from leaking. You should be able to water the table runner before installation and have the hydrangea last throughout the event. Make sure it is dry underneath and lay down a protective barrier so that the table is not water damaged.

    Please tell me where you obtained such a thin board....I am only finding 1"thick board....would the 1" thick be too heavy for a 6' table runner?

      I found these at my local Ace Hardware store. It is a "crafters" product. Try a craft store.

    I'm confused so you soak the foam with the plastic on?..just to be sure

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  9 років тому

      +Tami Teat The floral foam used is an "Oasis Spray Bar". It is encased in plastic with pin sized holes to allow the water to penetrate the foam.

      I was confused about that too. I scrolled the comments to find the answer. Great question Tami and thanks FlowerSchool for the reply. Beautiful arrangement. I learned a lot!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  8 років тому +1

      Correct, you soak the "Flower Bars" with the plastic intact. The pin holes in the plastic allow the foam to soak up the water, but reduce the water leakage after designing. You must allow for more "soak-time".

      Does the water leak onto the table from the soaked bar?

    Would you recommend adding flowers to bars on site or prepared prior to arrival at venue ?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  8 років тому +1

      +Matilda Ayoola The designs should be prepared one day in advance, then installed at the venue. You want to be sure that all water leakage has stopped prior to placing the designs on the table.

    Love it😍😍😍 how many hydrangeas do you think use used per bar ?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  4 роки тому

      That's a great question! For this piece, Leanne used 14 in each 12" bar in her demonstration. Of course, the number you would use would depend entirely on the size of the hydrangea blossoms. Hope this helps, and thank you for watching our show. We hope to see you again soon!

    How many bars did you use for it to hang on the side of the table ? how many open head roses would it take to do a 6 ' table rectangular 30" X 72" would 1600 cover it?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  8 років тому

      +Gloria Jones We used two spray bars, each 12" in length. The number of roses needed for the design that you are planning would be dependent on the actual size of the open roses used. You will need to do the math.

      How long hydrangeas last in your aosis arrangements, I am doing a wedding wreath for a friend. She loves hydrangeas. I worries it will wilt on me

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  6 років тому

      The lasting quality of hydrangea cut blossoms is largely dependent on the variety of hydrangea. Some garden varieties will dehydrate in minutes. Commercial floristry varieties will last seven to ten days. The solution is to test the hydrangeas that you will be using.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 роки тому

      That's an excellent question, Rose! We have flower food available on our website here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/collections/flower-care-products Another product we suggest for hydrangeas is alum, which is also on that same page. It helps those flowers drink water so they can be fresh and beautiful. Thank you very much for taking time to watch our show and for spending some time with us. We hope you will visit us again soon and we wish you all the best for the New Year!
