I say it’s the best pellet grill in the market. At least on anything less then 1900. I think it smokes more on lower temps and nothing sears like it. I like to put it on a lower setting to get extra smoke and open the sear box and it’s awesome
Salesperson said the ash catcher prevents a need to vacuum the grill out. That's not true. Yes, the catcher is helpful but you still need to vacuum the areas where ash has dropped outside the catcher.
I just bought the DLX about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I love it. Cooking is easy, just cooked some spare ribs this past weekend. My next cook will be a brisket. So far so good. Although I clean the grill the day after a cook.
Rob Tecarr 2 minutes ago If you want reliability and a consistently reliable pellet grill Oklahoma Joes Rider DLX is not for you!! Bought 2 of these 18 months ago. One for my son as a housewarming gift and one for myself. After the first year they both had an ER2 code. Oklahoma Joes replaced both igniter’s and control panels. Today is Memorial Day with friends coming and I was about to smoke some ribs and the ER2 code came on AGAIN!!! Looks like I’m breaking out the trusty Weber Kettle….don’t waste your money on this grill!
Man, that sounds frustrating Rob. I'm sorry to hear that's been your experience. I'd keep on them for replacement parts if you're not happy with the unit you have. I'm sure they want you to be someone who isn't experiencing this reality with their products, but the trusty Weber kettle makes a great stand in. I hope it all went well for you.
@@TheBarbecueLab Thanks David. It's very frustrating since this is the third time I've had to replace the ignitor. The last time they sent a new control panel to go along with the new ignitor thinking it may have been the control panel. I'll stay on them...I've actually followed your outdoor kitchen build. Very impressive my friend. Outstanding job!
I think your best bet will be to contact Oklahoma Joe’s customer service and see if they can get you one. The shelf is exclusive to their dealer lineup, but I don’t see why you couldn’t add one aftermarket.
Really really wanted my Rider DXL to be killer..unfortunately it was a freaking boat anchor....the second won is three months in and turning to shit. The temp probs are 10 to 15 degrees off. Internal temp varies by 20 degrees. But hey you get a plastic storage bucket WITH A LID..Whoopty Freaking Doo.
Man, that’s sad to hear Joel. We haven’t cooked on one, so we don’t have personal experience ourselves. I hope Oklahoma Joe’s will take care of you if you’re having that experience.
I agree this thing is junk. Already had to replace the motor fan. Control panel, ash bucket, and two legs in less then 6 months. Also my temps swings are ridiculous. Control panel will show say 250. But internal temp ranges anywhere from 40 to 50 degrees off (higher). Total junk. Cant trust it at all. Wish I could get my money back. Also. Mine doesn’t have any stainless steel extra material either.
I've noticed a significant differences in actual temp vs temperature set when it's cold outside. Otherwise I've had no issues, sorry your experience has been trash.
I love cooking baby backs and chicken wings with my Traeger Ironwood 885! I really enjoyed this video. Curious to see this grill in action. Do you think there might be an issue with grease fires since there is no drip tray! Great content!
Glad to hear you're enjoying cooking on your Ironwood 885. I haven't had any time with the Ironwood series, but I hope to some day. I really like their new redesign from the past year or two. That's a great question about the Rider and how it manages grease. I haven't personally cooked on one yet, but that's something definitely worth putting to the test.
I have been cooking on the OK Joe Rider DLX since early June and have had no grease fire issues. We use it on average of 3 times a week. About once a month I do a clean and out with a spatula just do get bigger pieces and grease built up but avoid cleansers to maintain "the pit" atmosphere. I also do one high temp burn off about once a month if I haven't seared something on high in that time. Also there is two drip buckets, one on each side
It’s good until you have to replace parts then it’s a piece of shit. Bolts literally weld into it it’s impossible to remove parts without drilling them out.
I loved my DLX pellet smoker. I had it for over a year and it never failed me! The sear mode was the best on the market.

The Barbecue Lab thanks!
@@edv8064 When it works, it's an outstanding pellet smoker.
Do you have a part number for the stainless wrap around shelfs.
Hey! Love the vids does it have 275 option?
Love my Oklahoma joes 😎
Can you adjust the P setting? Can you adjust the smoke output.

I love this grill so far have had minimal issues but still pumps out great food. Where can I get that shelf for mine though?

Seems funny, this model is not on the Oklahoma Joe’s web page,,,,was looking for the newest model and price????? Web page behind
I believe this model is part of their series that’s unique to their dealer lineup, and can only be purchased through one of their premier dealers.

DONT BUY ONE!
