I don't think he's a Ghoula or a Face Dancer. That tech is much farther down the line and doesn't include psychic abilities. However, the original BG sisters were a group of female witches (scorcerers) who could turn their minds into a type of psychic EMP bomb that, when detinated, would destroy a Cymec's brain canister or a thinking machines gel circuitry. They would get themselves all hopped up and literally explode their brains, killing themselves and any Cymecs in the area. This weapon was only available to the very early BG sisters in the Brian Hebert/KJA prequel novels. What if Desmond is some type of failed BG sorceres who was trained to be one of these psychic bombs; had a falling out with the BG's and then had his psychic powers awakened, or enhanced, when he encountered and survived the attack of the giant sandworm. The BG are well known for their ability to really piss people off. (Consider Paul in the Dune movie). I'm just guessing at this. I really think HBO just pulled this idea out of their @$$. Time will tell. One thing is for certain, Desmond is NOT in the novel "Sisterhood of Dune." (PS I can't spell worth a flip so apologies for that).
I don't think he is a ghola, but rather an agent of Leto II aka "The Tyrant". Leto communicated with him from the future and grant / taught Desmond some of his powers. That would also imply that Desmond Hart is a distatnt ancestor of Paul and Leto.
I'm thinking he could be a Face Dancer, because you can't tell the story of Dune Messiah without the Tlielaxu and they've yet to be introduced, so this would be a way to do so... And he might be using Tlielaxu or Ixian technology
We've had no mention of the Tleilaxu or IXians. Wouldn't it be poor writing to have not at least offhandedly mentioned them? I think the Richese family may give rise to the IXians. IX just means 9, referring to the 9th planet in the system they settle. The Richese family are the technologists in the story. Introducing the Ixians as the other technologists seems redundant.
Hey commenters, I need some help. I'm assuming that even 10,000 years before the events of the book, that Earth's history, like right now, takes place before the events of the TV show, right? Please don't make fun of me, I have a bet with a friend and I want to be proven right. So petty, I know.
Yes the first Dune movie is roughly 20,000 years from our present day. The new show is a little over 10,000 years in the future from our present day. So the events of the movies take place 10,141 years from the events of the new show. (This is said in ep 1) I may be wrong but i think this is somewhat accurate.
My prediction is thinking machine tech behind the power, Hart is a ghola, and may have unintentionally ingested the Water of Life (assuming the security footage was real).

This is the only channel that makes the show crystal clear for me. Keep it up.
Desmond being a thinking machine will probably kill the show for me
Desmond is not a machine, he has nanites

I completely agree!

Totally revealed. Everyrhing is clear now
Thanks someone finally said the ixians or gala path or a false meshia
Got another one the machines that went into hiding gave him that power
In dune messiah the ixian plotter mentioned "we created a kizarts haterac before (i believe he also said they killed him as well)"

I think he is an AI planted mentat ( notice that mentats are strangley absent?)
@@reaty05I love the idea of setting up the Tleiaxu for the next Villeneuve film.
