Yep just picked up that thread of knowledge about a month ago now. You can balance on the tip of your finger and tap with a wood pencil or spoon handle and it works well enough if you are in a jam
Magnet test is most accurate as silver is the best metal conductor of electricity, thus Eddie current is the strongest, causing the magnet to slide slower.
This video is well needed, but causing much anxiety. Please provide a list of reputable silver dealers do people won’t be stacking fake silver. Thank you for your insight.
@@ryanhansen4294But when I sell it, the buyers care about the trusted manufacturer of the bar (even if the manufacturer did some illegal mixing). So I'm not losing any value.
It's crazy the time spent learning this it blows my mind. I couldn't tell the difference between real gold and fake gold. Today they spend so much time making the fake stuff almost real so makes you wonder if its worse even doing it
So i don't think myself a stupid but my first thought is if you can make forgeries then just use the same percentage of silver as the original. The mark up is for the branded bar over scrap 925 surely. Am i not as smart as i think i am?
So I am a beginner as in I've never purchased any precious metals before and I was looking at getting the same item now I'm concerned that I'm going to get a fake one
Are you serious? You think a silver supplier would sell fake bars themselves? How have you managed to take care of yourself this long without accidentally starving to death
Provident metals sold me a fake gold bar in 2014. I had full confidence in them until in 2022 I went to sell it and found out by a sigma test it was fake. Needless to say I was pissed. Provident did not replace it with a real bar but instead gave me what I paid for it in 2014. Now I just don’t know when buying PMs if they are fake or real.
I never knew there was a “ping test”, let alone “ping test TOOLS”.
New knowledge for the day.
Super cool! There are also Ping Test apps!
Yep just picked up that thread of knowledge about a month ago now. You can balance on the tip of your finger and tap with a wood pencil or spoon handle and it works well enough if you are in a jam
You can also flip coins and listen to the sound of the ring. Silver will always be deeper/duller
That’s the whole point of this video. It’s an ad.
I use pingcoin app. It's great.
Dude just hypnotised me, broke the spell, and hypnotised me two more times
I ONLY buy from a trusted local bullion dealer. They have never done me dirty.
There are dozens of trusted online dealer starting with Apmex, SD bullion, etc etc. , I've never heard of "wape".
The fake sounded better than the real
Yeah, it doesn't sound bad! Just doesn't sound like Silver!
where did you buy it?
lol, I wrote exactly the same comment.
@@SoundMoneyMetals Sounds diff both times.
No it sounds tinny . the real jas resonance
Imagine working in the factory that makes these and your kids ask you “daddy what do you do at work”
And you have to tell them that you make lies
Can some people really not tell the difference in the 2 tones? They sound completely different to me.
Old US silver coins are more acceptable than billet. Hard to fake.
Countless counterfeit Morgan dollars: Are you sure about that
@jamiehughes5573 Ping Test is good as is accurate gram scale. Sticking to NGC graded stuff advisable for newbies.
I never even thought about testing the silver I buy 🤦🏻♂️
Crazy unless you only get yours off reputable sources.
@@Ty-bw9swdumb question but I buy mostly from APMEX directly. I have no reason to test right?
@@ChatsWithChrisno. It’s mostly fake
@@ChatsWithChris I buy from them too but have read that some of them are fake while being stamped APMEX
Apmex doesn't sell fakes. They have a direct line.
If you bought your silver from eBay I would be worried
I'm pretty sure you got them mixed up. Top one looks and sounds about right.
Magnet test is most accurate as silver is the best metal conductor of electricity, thus Eddie current is the strongest, causing the magnet to slide slower.
I would sell them both just to make sure.
Wow! Just think of people buying the fakes and reselling them! That’s crazy
This video is well needed, but causing much anxiety. Please provide a list of reputable silver dealers do people won’t be stacking fake silver. Thank you for your insight.
Thanks for sharing this with us
Thanks I just tested mine by flicking them with my finger. Had the same tone. Good idea
The adventure and thrill of finding it, then making one of these from that
This is the first time I've ever heard the silver make that ping sound. OK, got it.
The fake sounds more real than the real.
Why I never buy bars from anyone other than a certified refinery or mint.
If you think companies are above plating tungsten and selling it to you, you’d be wrong 😂
@@ryanhansen4294But when I sell it, the buyers care about the trusted manufacturer of the bar (even if the manufacturer did some illegal mixing). So I'm not losing any value.
@@ryanhansen4294 yeah, but you can get back at a company.
SO after you buy all those bars, and if everyone had your attitude, does that mean you can only sell back to those you bought from?
Real Silver makes a Low Deep Ping while Fake Silver make a High Pitch Ping.
I thought silver wasn't magnetic. Shouldn't the magnet slide faster?
Confused
The two sounds are so close to each other, there is no way for a person to know which one is which if they don’t have both and are labeled.
There is an app that is made for the ping tester. It will tell you if it’s fake or not based on the sound.
Sounds very noticeable to me
It's crazy the time spent learning this it blows my mind. I couldn't tell the difference between real gold and fake gold. Today they spend so much time making the fake stuff almost real so makes you wonder if its worse even doing it
That’s wild that with that ping thing silver makes a very specific ping
Did you buy that knowing it was fake? Also, since silver isn't magnetic, shouldnt the magnet slide faster?
That's what I thought too
no. the slow slide is how neodymium (rare earth) magnets react with silver.
@@ian5780 thanks for that heads up. I never knew that. Great little bit of information!
@@LD_Tush it can be faked because copper does it too. It's not the only test you need to do.
It’s called diomagnetic I think. Regardless it has a slight magnetic attraction
They're getting way better at fakes these days. You can barely tell
This is why I quit buying silver, bc they're even faking graded coins as well
Well you could just buy it from reputable sources you know? Stop buying from ebay
So i don't think myself a stupid but my first thought is if you can make forgeries then just use the same percentage of silver as the original. The mark up is for the branded bar over scrap 925 surely. Am i not as smart as i think i am?
Not enough profit.
ice test works
Pays to check them all folks.
Stop drunk shopping, Temu, bruh 😂😂😂
Hi mate have you g out info on the magnet your using as I was under impression silver was not magnetic? Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
The Neodium magnets are pretty powerful and slide slowly on silver .
Enjoyed This (you sound like someone I've bought from before...) west coast ?!☺️
Tu es malin😏 en tout cas, merci pour ces infos 😏
That giy is a professional jeweler.
Does Walmart sell fakes? I mean do the check their suppliers? Purchased 3 from them
Best check them
I'd like to see you include that Sigma device in your testing arsenal.
Sounds like brass
Magnet slides like brass too
*This question is directed at the channel owner*
Where would you recommend purchasing precious metals?
Who has the best Reputation?
another great UA-camr bottle top bandit just brought from them and all were fake ...great video
You could make musical instruments out of them 😊
Wait so is APMEX safe to buy from?
its not even a troy oz unless the scale measures oz at 31.1 grams as oz
where di you gwt that "Ping"tester? what's it called?
But that frequency should it sound at?
So scary. I was going to invest in silver and gold but after seeing these videos, I don’t know who to trust. Too many scammers out there.
I just realized why hand bells were made of silver.
lmaoo
"Sounds beautiful... doesn't sound REAL"
ping sounds never lie
The one thing he doesn’t show? The thickness. Which is the easiest way to determine if a one ounce is fake or not. Good job.
Good info
Had one come in our shop yesterday. Looked good but the magnet stuck to it.
So what is the fake one made of? Is it a lesser quality of silver or just not silver at all?
No entiendo la falsa sonido mas limpio o hay confusión?
They sent you a fake one? I just bought 10k in gold and silver from them. Should I have it tested?
Good video
You need an x-ray fluorescence instrument. No guesswork there; it will directly tell you a sample's makeup by element.
Did you get that from the website?
so did you get this from apmex thinking its real? or did you know its fake before purchasing?
Did the fake bar come directly from APMEX?
Crazy cause dupont lighters are the same test with the same ping sound
Nice 👍
Informative
Is it possible to get fakes from those places online like sd bullion?that's one I use and I haven't tested anything they sold me yet..
bought many imes from stonex and never got scammed, think the same for all OFFICIAL dealers

Apmex is probably the safest place to buy that bar. They're NOT going to sell you fake silver!@
I’ve seen videos of fake stuff marked APMEX
did you buy that from apmex ?
So what're you doing with fake silver bars ?
Magnet travels SLOWER on silver? Someone please explain.
Eddy currents. Take a copper tube and drop a neodymium magnet down it. It will slowly fall to the bottom.
@oldscratch3535 gotcha! thanks for the explanation. 🤙
Thats crazy close
If you bought from a reputable company, store, manufacture, etc would you be able to trade it back in,
Or get your money back?

How about the Dimensions? Is there difference? Should be right?

Where did you get the fake one to avoid it
How can I get that cool tester!?
So what's the actual content of the fake one?
What material its made from? Fake one
