I believe those to be where the Apaches ground and roasted the mescal plants. I have read about it before and was extremely excited to find them. One of my favorite things of the whole trip.
BlessingOfAdventure I really love that song. I personally like this Johnny Cash version a little better. But I do really like Marty Robbins. I always listened to all that stuff with my grandpa growing up. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, Toadies at the end! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the hikes from your trip. I can't wait to get back out to the Guads myself. Awesome place.
so beautiful! loving the view of el capitan and slopes below it. interesting the ocotillos are so green there. we have them in joshua tree but they dont get green till like february or later usually. neat grinding bowls in the rocks and nice "duel" haha
Its monsoon season in West Texas right now. That's why the ocotillos are so green. And everything else also. It's generally a lot more brown. The foothills of the Guads are an amazing place to explore. And I believe the Apache used those rocks to grind the mescal plant.
I don't know about that! It didn't turn out quite the way I had it in my head but it's alright to be a little cheesy. Thanks for watching. Hope all is well.
Hi Cameron, so was that just a really overgrown trail, or off trail completely for awhile? It looked pretty thick there. Glad you were able to make it out there. I've been denied by the weather the last 3 times, but it will happen eventually!
It was super overgrown in that section. Enough that I got a cactus thorn stuck in my leg because I couldn't see it. It wasn't near as bad once I climbed up a bit. Mostly just overgrown grass.
That was a fun trip. Hope the gunshot wound wasn't to bad. 😆 I almost did that trail a few weeks ago but went on up instead. Maybe next time. How did you like the pack ?
It was pretty over grown. I enjoyed the trail a lot more when I did it in winter a couple years ago. The views are great though and I'd be shocked to run into someone out there. The pack was great. Really enjoyed using it. It's nice to use a pack with a hipbelt and hipbelt pockets!
Looks likes there had been a lot of grinding at 2:50.
Thanks for another video from the Guadalupe Mountains, can't wait for part 2.

Great place...!!!! Very good hiking tour !!!!! Likeeee
Nice video. Great song. I have that song memorized. My parents had it on a Marty Robbins record and I listened to it many, many times as a boy.

I have been jamming to that song for the past few months. It plays a lot on my 90's pandora station. Thanks for watching!

ah i forgot about monsoons.. Death Valley gets them but they're rare in Joshua Tree where we have ocotillos.
Nice hike Cameron! Hey, I think you really have a future as a stunt man! LOL! Keep up the great videos brother!
