If we factored lore, half the cast isn’t human and we have no idea what their tolerance for cold is.
half of the non-humans live in Inazuma, so it’s logical to assume they’re most adequate to the climate there
Now do a “how long would Genshin characters survive the heat” for Natlan for an obvious sequel. And I wonder how many people would change if you include lore. Like that Xiao eats snow.
The list would look SIGNIFICANTLY different if Rathiel didn’t look at the characters based on outfits alone.

Funny how Dehya is at the bottom of the list as in-game she can't die to the dragonspine sheer cold mechanic because of her passive

@@MoodyBluesRequiem80 iirc it's the A4 passive. When she gets below 40% health, she instantly heals 20% and another 6% every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. The passive can only be triggered once every 20 seconds.
Another commenter has already pointed this out, but Ei and Scara are mechanical beings, the clothes they wear or don’t wear aren’t as relevant to them.
And something that you didn't mention but it's good to know: they don't even breathe, not making a puff of when standing still or moving is a sign for that
@@felipematheuss And something neither of you mentioned is the fact that you're both deaf. He said he only judges them based off of design and not lore. He considers all characters as just normal visionless humans for this list.

While I agree- he already said in the beginning that he's judging everyone as if they were regular humans. Keeps it more fun that way imo.

My man diluc being the most protected for the cold doesn't surprises me, he's traumatized asf, his father died to a fatui invention, wanted to get revenge so then he went ALONE to snezhnaya because favonius knights didn't wanted to help him (from there his hate towards them), he almost died, and he was rescued by anonymous, i'm pretty sure i didn't missed something too important, but poor diluc has passed through everything, and i got him with his weapon, i'm affortunate to have one of my fav characters (i also want zhongli, but that's hard)
He is my first 5* star and fav pyro character! 🖤🖤 I was Diluc main until Neuvillette. Waiting for Zhongli now 🖤
iirc Raiden and Wanderer’s breath doesn’t show up in Dragon spine cause they are technically robots, so clothing doesn’t matter cause they don’t need to stay warm
but if they were just regular humans they are turbo dead
Also love that Deyha is low tier but she is my go to for exploring dragon spine cause of her healing passive

Watching cyno made me laugh. But on a serious note u could do the same video for the desert with it being the exact opposite climate
sadly, the desert characters probably wouldn't do very well in that tier list either because their outfits aren't actually that practical for the extremes of the desert.
@@sleet9289 True. On top of heat the actual killer in extreme heat is sun burning your skin, which is why despite the hot weather, a lot of desert nomads wear layers of clothing to cover their skin--just airy and light clothing, not heavy ones

I think barbara and aloy have better coverage than one might think so i think they deserve a higher grade but overall i agreed with all! But in terms of lore there are some characters (ei, wanderer, chong, shenhe etc) who would survive and like cold cus they are elsa like that lmao
Aloy especially.
Those skins don't look bulky enough to still have the fur on inside, but they're clearly not thin fashion leather, so they'd be a contender for some of the warmest material in this tier list.
not surprising that the top characters are all guys, even when we get to Snezhnaya the new girl characters will probably all be wearing dresses with lots of exposed skin, for obvious reasons, but it will be interesting to see exactly what kind of style of clothes they'll wear. Also, i'd argue that Noelle might be dressed fairly warmly depending on what kind of padding her armor has, i'd personally put her in might last a day.
Why does Collei have exposed toes? Those would get absolutely horribly banged up in the forest.

Iirc, among women, only Rosaria's black suit doesn't have an exposed back.

Have to disagree on Navia. She has metal around her thighs. Because of that her femoral arteries will chill in an instant, and this is a really big problem. Definitely For the wolves tier
Also, i would change some characters based on my experience (of wearing a t-shirt in Moscow in -15). Basically you need to cover your torso up to your neck and especially your back first, then your legs up to the knees (you can get away with something light, it just needs to be covered by at least something), then your hands from shoulders to elbows, then everything else. Not covering fingers is fine for a short term as long as you move them or do something using all your fingers (works fine for multiple hours, then you may have a problem), not covering your head is no problem at all, unless you have a combination of high humidity, strong wind and temperature -10 and below (but to be fair no one in genshin could survive this combo), so covering your head is rarely an excuse to put somebody a tier above.

Ayaka’s Springbloom Outfit she’s near the top or at least in Has a Chance. Plenty of coverage, a hat, boots, not much metal on the exposed skin, and the fact that my wife almost passed out from heatstroke in the cosplay of it in Mid-Atlantic February

It was meant to be a gift to the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon, from Pantalone, the 9th Fatui Harbinger, but Yelan stole it.
She stole and modified it. Imma guess the mods are what made it more friendly for Liyue weather as opposed to Schneznayan weather.
@@LilianaKali yeah, she probably shortened it and the like, but i doubt the Tsaritsa needs to worry about the cold either so who knows what it looked like.

Tights are definitely warm…er than bare skin. Surprisingly so, but obv they won’t go far in the frigid north. They’re basically great at retaining heat for short outdoor excursions from car to house - where you’ll barely feel the cold at all.

Characters that would be well-suited to the cold are going to be less interesting to look at.
We know Childe has other clothes because he's wearing them in Midsummer Night's Lazzo (and because duh) and Aloy has some outfits in her game that are specifically a parka and other snow gear. But who wants to look at that...especially when you're running around the Sumeru Desert?
I would've put Aloy and Yelan one Tier higher because from experience I can say that Yelan's jacket is gonna do a lot and Aloy's boots being metal don't have that much impact because they are mainly still fur. I would also put Klee one down because of Bergmann's rule
So many characters were just underrated because they have their pants and sleeves rolled up like chongyun and Mika respectively

Ngl this list is a bit unfair cuz many characters, specially from sumeru wear clothes made for warm weather since it wouldn't make sense to make someone like cyno who's always in the desert wear a furcoat and stuff like that. I think a cool video idea would be if you also rated their survival abilities and if they'd be able to find shelter, keep themselves warm, protect themselves and find food and clean water
You gotta consider inherent physical properties of characters, for example Wanderer is a puppet, so he can't feel cold as we do. Same with Raiden and maaaybe Albedo

Thoma's definitely not For The Wolves, but I'm not sure he's higher than Frostbite Speedrun. His feet will be sodded, sure, but his legs have gotta be covered enough where he could contemplate taking his polearm to his toes while he still has the strength, so it's more a matter if his core will be covered enough to wake up the next morning. (I have no institutional cold experience, I'm Floridian.)

Lol not surprised by the practically the entire sumeru cast being in the bottom tiers considering their climate is the furthest from Dragonspine.
I would like to draw your attention to Ayato's chest. Man's wearing like five layers of clothing so Snezhnaya is probably one of the few places where he *wouldn't* be cooked alive in his outfit.
This a fun list, coming from Monster Hunter, Dragon Spine has been one of my favorite maps, not only there are dangerous enemies but also the environment can kill you.
🤞Hopefully Natlan and Snezhnaya have something similar, Inazuma had the electro valley but it was small and not as fun to interact/explore IMO

Ok, I'm just gotta disagree with venti(^) , thoma (^) and xiao (v). Also furina (v) and hu tao (v). Other than that I mostly agree. Interesting concept btw. Now you could do one for the desert and/or one for the rainforest. You could also do one for spring weather (not so cold that they get sick but so warm that they get a heat stroke) and one for ~under the sea~.
I think after touching the statue of seven in snezhnaya we might get immunity to sheer cold ❄️🥶??? Just a theory 🤡

Legs don't freeze? Naaaah it depends. Mine definitely do. If it's negative numbers outside (in Celsius, below 32°F for anyone who doesn't use °C) tights under pants are a must for me. The thicker the better. But where I live, every winter has a lot of days/weeks with temperatures below -20°C so, yeah, expected

i think maybe something missed here is that certain characters with more material could theoretically cut it up to protect the spots with the least clothing. not sure how easy it is to do that in the wilderness, but it's just an idea (for example razor could position his jacket over the front of his torso)
its extremely easy to rip most fabrics, even thicker ones (not so much straight up leather or something tho, but also most of them have weapons sooooo)
just wanted to chime in as someone with a lot of sewing experience, its not that uncommon to pull a thread in the weave loose and tear a large piece of fabric where you want to instead of sitting there and tediously cutting a really long straight line haha.
Dehya is literally immortal in Dragonspine 😂.
I feel like some of the characters should get extra points for having actual fur on their bodies, even if you're not counting Visions.

I wonder which would do better, Cryo visions or Pyro visions
From lore perspective, pyro visions allow you to warm yourself, while cryo visions straight give you cold immunity. No matter how you look at it, cryo is better, you can even sleep in snow with no consequences.

OH I HAD THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE PROBLEM LMAO i remember when i lived in the north of brazil, 35~40 celsius everyday and the only thing we could wear was the uniform t-shirt and JEANS, and only dark jeans at that. that infuriated me so much because the boys could wear basketball/beach shorts and had a tanktop version of the uniform while we were cooked alive 😭😭

Mostly skimmed through the video, as I usually do with lists like these(and watch fully if they are really funny, like BonkMeGud's The Rock Tier List), but seeing the end of it...Looks like it's a list where all characters are (turned) human and based on their clothing alone, huh.
If we go by other things other than their clothing, Archons, some "immortals" and Qiqi(who is a Zombie and really hates the heat, as it makes her "feel...disgusting") should be fine, as well.
