In this video ua-cam.com/video/B08liebsedk/v-deo.html you can see Morten Olsen, Frank Arnesen and Per Frimann presenting Hummel's, at the time, brand new kit with stripes on the shorts as well. The shorts were later banned by UEFA and If I'm not mistaken it was because UEFA were afraid, that a kit with stripes on both shirts and shorts would flicker too much on a television set. In my opinion it was a good thing that UEFA banned stripes on the shorts, because it gets too much and over the top with an all stribbed kit.

Denmark is the team that "should" have won this World Cup.. they had the machine rolling before that derailment against Spain; on this day Laudrup was just as much a star player as Maradona and had Denmark won WC, it would be well deserved for him and team. Great combo of Beautiful play and beautiful Team kit.

Oh yeah. From the Euro Cup 1984 in France to the World-Cup 1998 in France. Denmark was absolutely top and very sympatic. Lerby, Laudrup`s , Arnesen, Elkjaer, .........
In 1992 Elkjær was 35 years old and a compulsive smoker, who hadn't played professionally for 2 years and Big Bro. Laudrup was a diva, who didn't believe that Denmark could win a title with Møller-Nielsen as manager.. We managed just fine without them :D

Denmark's best ever team. But it's worth remembering how good the opponents actually were. Uruguay were the reigning Copa America champions from 1983 and they won the next Copa America in 1987 as well - and Denmark demolished them.
Denmark are actually pretty decent again. We only lost two of the last 40 matches. Both loses coming to belgium. After the first 3 qualifiers for wc 2022 we have 3 wins and 14 - 0 goal difference. Beating israel 2 - 0 away, moldova 8- 0 at home with reserve players, and austria 4 - 0 away.
the worst was in 1993 when ref screwed up and did not see the foul on Schmeichel before the goal and Spain ended up winning 1-0 and robbing Denmark from playing in 1994 world cup.

Being a Scotsman, the Uruguay team were just thugs, couldnae play a game of football in that World Cup, they tried to kick people up and the park at any opportunity instead of actually playing in that match, still hold that auspicious honour of having the fastest sending off ever when whats his name completely cleaned out Strachan! Then you see a match like that when a red hot European national team like Denmark show them how to play football and not how to put your foot into a footballer, or try your entire body weight steaming into the other player!
Totally agree. Even as a sassenach I wanted Scotland to beat Uruguay and qualify, it would have been fantastic for that side to have done that. But alas a 0-0 draw meant the thugs went through, and even I was gutted for Scotland. At least we beat Paraguay in the second round (another team of thugs) and then ran into the Falklands war runners up. Enough said about that...........still hurts, still hate argentina. All the best to the tartan army!
Most Uruguayans footballers are just thugs. They are raised that way. Ask any average Uruguayan fan and they will tell you they are proud of how “tough” their players are. They call it “garra charrúa”. The Uruguayan football league is just a kicking contest. They are probably the most overrated side on the Planet.
@@maxpower252 Absofuckinglutely! Paraguay even played more actual nice football with an actual football than Uruguay, who just played football with peoples ribs and other areas. So many CRYBABIES here...I mean...yes this was a Rude Uruguayan Team, and this defeat was a shame of course...but eventhought we're not proud of this Team...saying that "They were thugs that robbed the matches" is unfair and a big lie...FIRST BECAUSE THE PLAYERS THAT MADE FOULS SAW THE RED CARD...so why would the Scotish cry or claim that the match was robbed if the y played with 11 against 10 since the minute 4 because of the expulsion of Jose Batista...and they couldn't win!! (Scotland didn't had the eggs or qulity to beat up a team with less players on the ground so they didn't make it into the Next Phase...end of the story..Fergusson and all the scotish crying like b.tches are claiming a cheating that didn't existed on the facts) THE SAME HAPPENED AGAINST DENMARK...our rude defenders saw red card and the Team played all the second half with less players on the ground(that explained the 4extra goals we recived on the 2nd half)...I AGREE THAT OUR DEFENSE WAS BRUTAL AND WITHOUT ANY QUALITY but we had some quality in the Attack...Strickers like Francescoli and Alzamendi are recognized great players(they couldn't shine in this WC because of the defense) REMEMBER THAT URUGUAY ALMOST BEATED GERMANY IN THE 1st MATCH anf also played a great match against Maradona's Argentina(in 1987's Copa America this same team was even beaten at their home by Uruguay) SO WE HAD POTENTIAL TO PLAY GREAT MATCHES AGAINST THE CHAMPION AND SUB CHAMPION OF THIS WC86... this matcha against the danish was an exceptional one...we loose OK, humilliated yes...but not cheating at all

🇩🇰magic. I thought Denmark were going to win the World Cup after the this fantastic match as Uruguay was one of the favorites (seeded 3rd, I think). They went on to beat West Germany 2-0. They even continued this dream run against their most feared opponents, Spain going 1-0 up but then a terrible back pass let Spain to equalize easily...and the dream run died right there.
1986 was the first world cup, I watched live on TV. Danish team in league stages was leathal. I thought they may win the World Cup. But unfortunately lost to Spain.
URUGUAY never understood in that World Cup that it is to play VERY WELL, in SOUTH AMERICA they are HARD KICKING, but in this World Cup they kicked until they were exhausted, they are proud to have eliminated the SCOTLAND NATIONAL TEAM with their kicks, but they found the TEAM NACINAL DE DENMARCA, well stopped, the referee did not allow himself to be intimidated by the URUGUAYAN players accustomed to sowing fear, that win was not accidental, it is the product of the GOOD GAME gentlemen

unquestionably the finest side at the 1986 World Cup...how strange was that exit against Spain
+hugodrax71 As a Dane ... I stopped breathing for a few days after that! ;O)
For years and years after that, Spain was our "evil spirit" ... EVERY time we had a chance to go anywhere, THEY took us out! For the last two decades we haven't got much to say in international football ... so yes: THOSE were the days!
+hugodrax71 Yeah ... THAT team was winning football hearts all over the world ... What happened that day is hard to tell. You may be right. As far as I remember the first half against Spain was okay. Then came the delivery back to the goal keeper just before half time ... YEARS after such a bad delivery resulting in a goal was called a "Jesper Olsen!" ;O) (You STILL hear it today!)
and this year did not even qualify for euro even with 24 teams!!! Sweden defeated them in the play off,in WC 2010 even Japan beat Denmark ,hope to see them again in 2018.
It may take a while before we reach THIS level! ;O) The current A-team isn't very strong ... but the good news: U 19 looks promising!
Loved that Danish side. Remember jumping around the living room watching this match. Huge Elkjaer fan!
Denmark is the team that "should" have won this World Cup.. they had the machine rolling before that derailment against Spain;
on this day Laudrup was just as much a star player as Maradona and had Denmark won WC, it would be well deserved for him and team.
Great combo of Beautiful play and beautiful Team kit.
It Will not be much?
¡Dinamarca! Saludos desde Uruguay
I Remember this game, The Danes slaughtered Uruguay ,then Got beaten by Spain. it was one of the best games for goals ,and a great WC one of the best .

Lerby,Laudrup,Elkjær
Great players
Oh yeah. From the Euro Cup 1984 in France to the World-Cup 1998 in France. Denmark was absolutely top and very sympatic. Lerby, Laudrup`s , Arnesen, Elkjaer, .........
The fan`s was fantastic, too
And Molby!
Allan Simonsen as well Although a frence broke his leg in the first match in 1984
And Henrik Andersen

Pitty that Michael Laudrup and Preben Elkjaer weren’t a part of a Denmark team that won the Euro in 1992.
In 1992 Elkjær was 35 years old and a compulsive smoker, who hadn't played professionally for 2 years and Big Bro. Laudrup was a diva, who didn't believe that Denmark could win a title with Møller-Nielsen as manager..
We managed just fine without them :D
@@Gutjescope Agreed,I was cheering for Denmark that year, but for me,being a child, back in the 1984-1986,Preben ang Michael were the definition of a Danish player, till to our days, they both, are the best players Denmark have ever produced.

8:13 Just LOOK at how fast Elkjær accelerates and the speed. A compilation of the Laudrup brothers' teamwork would be fun.
Preben Elkjaer was a nightmare for Uruguay and their slayer !
Landrup score one the finest goal you ever wish to see.... Maradona, hold my beer and watch.
Great goal, he would watch it, drink your beer then go on a pitch, then score 100 like it or better straight after. Maradona is the King.
Great Danish technique 👍

@@ashrafbeshir2808 Seriously? I am from a generation that should be romantic about it, but no, it had its moments, but 1986 eclipsed it rather easily.
Denmark's best ever team. But it's worth remembering how good the opponents actually were. Uruguay were the reigning Copa America champions from 1983 and they won the next Copa America in 1987 as well - and Denmark demolished them.
What about the fouls against francescoli?

Denmark are actually pretty decent again. We only lost two of the last 40 matches. Both loses coming to belgium. After the first 3 qualifiers for wc 2022 we have 3 wins and 14 - 0 goal difference. Beating israel 2 - 0 away, moldova 8- 0 at home with reserve players, and austria 4 - 0 away.

The great Denmark team of the 80's. Cool jersey too. Too bad Spain had their number (Euro 84, Mexico 86, Euro 88!). Football defies logic at times,
Yeah! The illustrious Danes and their marvellous partnership with the kool af Hummel kits. 👍
the worst was in 1993 when ref screwed up and did not see the foul on Schmeichel before the goal and Spain ended up winning 1-0 and robbing Denmark from playing in 1994 world cup.
First goal is a classic example of a goalie that just should have stayed on his line. Loved this team.

MR ANTONIO R. MARQUEZ THE MAJOR REFEREE OF THE WOLD CUP MÉXICO 86 IN THE NEZA 86 STADIUM.
You could see the numbers on the denmark shirts from space...
I have learned never to say things incase the opposite happens, although i'll make a couple of exceptions, both Uruguay and England will never win the World Cup again.

Preben Elkjaer scored only 1 more goal for Denmark after this World Cup! That was quite a decline, because he was superb in this competition.
Why Hogh played in goal against GFR and ESP later, not Rasmussen like here against URU and SCO earlier? Injury?
Rasmussen was benched for some mistakes in the first two games. Lars Høgh was a very good alternate keeper, years later a stellar performance by him allowed Odense Boldklub to knock Real Madrid out of the UEFA cup in 1994 with a 2-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
