& now a real comment. Not sure what the thinking here was other than they tried to trade up & failed. I _REALLY_ expected the Pats to trade back. I think that they must have gotten inside info about the Commanders' decision to go for Daniels & they couldn't pass up Maye. No good QB prospects are foreseen for next season. These guys don't come out of nowhere, play one year then get drafted so that is a Real Consideration. Now the Giants aren't seeing one more year of Daniel Jones, they're committed to two. The Pats would have had Brissett & Zappe. While this is less bad perhaps than Jones (I think he's reached his ceiling or nearly so) there's no way of knowing that waiting two years would yield another Maye. They took their shot & also got some receiving help. The Pats receiving game was their _major_ weakness. Even if Maye ain't ready, Zappe can do better with these two new receivers. They're way better than last year. So I think Zach was insurance in case. Nothing more.
