Nice work. I'm running the same setup with 700ccs, stock block. Fbo fully catless. High boost pulley for me peaks at 11ish lbs. Car feels great and pulls hard. Good enuf for me, for now.
So what's your take on an fa versus ej? I so like the idea of direct injection with port injection to keep the carbon buildup down. It would take alot for me to own a direct injection engined car.
This is my first time I have been able to really dive in and work on an fa. There are things I like about it. But there are lots of problems that come with it. There is no doubt that they have an issue with rocker failure. And rod knock. This one only had 85k when it had a bearing failure. We added rocker retainer clips to combat the rockers falling out. I do like the timing chain. And I do like the dual injectors. You have the direct injection that has been proven to make great power. But like you said the port injection helps keep the carbon build up from happening. I still think the ej is better than the FA. But the FB engine seams it could be a great engine. Be cool to see what the future holds for it.
We did lower compression. Just because he found a really good deal on somebody who bought a block and never used it. The tuner said that they recommend stock compression for our power goals tho. So I would talk to the person you plan to tune it and see what they recommend.
@@gingerauto I appreciate you getting back to me. What were your power goals if you don't mind me asking. I am currently in a similar position as your customer. My engine started knocking on my way home and had to drive it home. Haven't taken the engine out yet but looking at getting an IAG shortblock and reusing my heads if possible. Where I differ is that my current car is NA and I do not have the funds to get forced induction right now. BRZ was my daily so trying to get an engine in her is priority. Thinking of building stock compression and if I do go turbo, I would keep it low boost. Not looking for crazy HP. Just a more fun daily. Thoughts? Still looking for a tuner in my area. Not for a lack of options but so many lol
@@Brosignious if you are staying n/A or doing low boost I would for sure keep the stock compression. If you go lower you are going to lose a lot of torque feeling. We are trying for 400whp.
How strong are the auto's on these? Know someone thats interested in supercharging an auto 86, but not sure on the strength of the stock auto's? Also small note, music on the outro is loud with headphones. 👍👍
Oh I’m sorry. I usually lower the volume on the outfro and forgot to do it! Since most people with autos don’t usually add power. There is not a lot of information and I don’t think anyone has found the limit yet. I have found that people have mode well over 400whp with out any issues tho.
I know this videos not related but i was planning on doing my own first gen impreza eg33 swap but im not confident i have a the knowledge for it since no one breaks it down enough was wonder what advice you got
@gingerauto 600 to 800 hp range budgets like under 10k, preferably 7ish. The ideas a twin turbo set up for boost on a standalone and the sti tranmission for reliability there's more to it than that but that's the gist
@gingerauto I've got the engine now but not the car yet what do you think I should do for now I've already done spark, oil, cleaned the intake, and a compression test.
@@lowgradetriplea1620 how were your compression numbers? I would think that you should be good to go if you aren’t going to worry about timing belt and headgasket.

What power do you think you are at?
@@gingerauto on a good day, I would say 330ish. Haven't dynoed yet tho.
I couldn't tell if there was a frog in the background or if you were just cutting it loose and just playing it off
There are a lot of frogs on the ranch 😜

Any chance you still have the differential from the 2020 load star project?
Yes we do.
Looking at building an IAG engine myself. Did you guys go stock compression ratio for this or lowered?
