This is a different type of video for this channel but I thought I would take you along in my process to organize my craft room....which is really a front room in my home so I store all of my supplies in a closet. I didn't buy any thing to do the organization but used things I already had on hand.

OMG! I do the same thing....My brain just can't work unless I'm talking myself through it. I have a small room that used to be an office that I worked from home at. It turned into a junk room.... now I'm turning ot into my craft room. I turned the closet into my office area and put shelves along the north wall. I'm currently sorting through all the junk into crafts. But.... I had to get through sorting it all. I just use general categories and throw out the crap and keep anything I consider a blank. I really appreciate you sharing this. I get so overwhelmed with all my stuff. Thank you!!

    • @jenxu2
      @jenxu2 7 місяців тому +1

I put all my signs into my blanks..... you can always make them over. Looks like you are doing a great job! Carts on wheels are my fav! That cool rope can be wrapped around a cardboard box as trim to hide the edges of whatever you put on the box to hide the cardboard. I'm using the cardboard boxes as storage containers covered with adhesive paper. They make great storage. The Posh Paper Lady has some great makeovers. ❤❤❤ Love this! You could add some more shelves into the closet to make use of vertical space.

In the closet under those shelves I would hang those over the door shoe organizers. I have had luck with the narrow ones in small spaces. I screwed in tea cup hooks and hung them from the wall. I use them to store florals, paints, pretty much anything that will fit in the pockets. The clear pockets ones make it so you can see what you have and it uses vertical space for an inexpensive investment. You can cut the length down to the space you have available.

Thank you for sharing your thought process here. It's all about the thinking of categories and what works best for you, well done!
I see so many vids of those with big craft rooms and they're deemed "small". Living in an expensive city, ANY dedicated space is a blessing -gotta make the best of what we have!
I've got a 3m x 1.5m space (half a small room) with a chest of drawers for fabrics, 3 bookcases with boxes and bins for types of craft (clay masks, bottle cutting, chains, macrame, painting). Plastic bins/bags for ribbon, adhesives, cards, florals, bows, paper etc). Easy grab items are in trays, tins etc are close to my small desk, my scissors and beading tools are on a magnetic strip. No seasonal bins, it's not huge here to decorate except xmas.
I bought stick on tile stickers in bold colours to put on large ares to make the design visually cohesive.
I can see and display the pretty things and hide the rest, so it works for me ❤

I just came across your channel today n started watching DIY’s then seen this organization video which I SO desperately needed to see! Ohhh boy, can I relate to talking to myself n thinking out loud too. 😊 I used to have an entire room for crafting then unfortunately moved to a much smaller home. Now I set up in the dining room since we don’t use it. I don’t care for it as I feel it looks like a wreck if I leave my stuff out. Yet, it’s a lot of work to put it away then drag it back out. But organizing my stuff is an entirely different thing altogether! 🙄😔 I’m terrible at making categories n much like others have said, if I don’t see my stuff then I forget I have it n it don’t get used. Funny how watching someone else organize helps motivate us to do it as well. Thank you so very much for sharing‼️

I have a small craft room. Was my sons room. I put cardboard in the bottom of those DT organizers. I separated my stuff Christmas, fall, Halloween, Easter etc. Stuff that could be used for anything I put together. I put all my material together. Stencils together etc. The tiny things I got sectioned plastic holders. Get the ones in The fishing dept. at Walmart. They are cheaper than the ones in crafting. All my ribbon, I put in empty ribbon boxes from the Dollar Tree. They have lids. They stack. They did not care if I took them. I labeled everything. I don’t have a lot. I also got the small plastic totes. 4 for 10.00 I think at Walmart. I have them stacked and labeled. My husband is building me a shelving unit to put across one wall. You need something like that or some tall book shelves will hold the fabric organizers. I clipped together some cans and use them for pens, pencil, markers, brushes, scissors etc. I hope to one day make something for the ribbon to hang on the wall. It’s hard to get everything straight and keep it that way. 🌟. I just got mine somewhat organized.

I have all my craft supplies in one small guest bedroom in containers, small boxes, etc because I have no room for shelving units & no spare room. Its so difficult to work on projects because I have to go through everything. I desperately need help organizing my supplies. I only have a very small space behind the bedroom door 😔 I have to stash supplies under the bed which I detest because I have never liked to have anything under the bed...so much easier to clean.

It's hard when we don't have much space to work with or a lot of options. I'd go through and purge anything I don't think I would use anymore, if there is any of that. 😉 Then look for creative storage solutions, store like things together so you can just pull out a container or caddy (or two) when you have a project to work on. Over the door shoe organizers are great and can be used on the inside of the door. I have one of those in my front coat closet....and I don't use it for shoes. But it doesn't take up any floor space so it's kind of like bonus space that would otherwise go unused. You've got this! Just tackle one area at a time!

It is a dilema defining what goes with what, and where. Best is storing likes with likes. Woods with woods by category., frames, crates, etc.. Christmas small ornaments with small ornaments. Christmas beads with Christmas beads… etc.. and actually gather your organized categorized bins and put them close together so is easier to choose from one bin or the other by seasons when crafting. Everyone is different when deciding what makes it easy for each. So you can check videos and get storage ideas, but from there choose what will actually makes it worth Your organization and able to keep it maintained by putting stuff back. But.. yes… we all struggle over and over how to gather likes with likes…

Since you have a utube channel, you
Shouldn't feel bad about space you
Use. With some more rollie carts and
Some wall organizers, everything would have a place and you could use the closet for coats and other things.

That's definitely a good thought! I would love to have that space in the closet to use for other things. 😊

"I saved this, there was a good reason for it, I just can't remember why". Are you me? If I had a nickel for every time I've said that, I'd be a billionaire

Donate what you have had and not used in 6 months or a year.

Advice, don’t store too much weight on your shelves. Because as you already may know it will come out of the wall.

Yes, great tip! I've never had it happen but anything is possible, especially if they aren't installed correctly. 😊

Enjoyed your storage organization. In regard to your rope ribbon you showed you could always use it as an edging on a painted picture or if you do any diamond painting it would be a great edging to cover the cardboard or other backing you use.
