This video was very helpful. After watching, I was able to install my Hogue grip in less than 10 minutes. Tips: Before I started I wrapped the whole gun in kitchen plastic wrap - secured with a couple of rubber bands (with cut outs around the grip) - also wadded some up and stuffed it up inside the magazine well. This kept all the water/lube gunk from running up inside. I cut out the plastic strips from the package exactly how it says in the instructions. Folded up towel on the counter. Then soaked the grip in boiling water for 5 min. Took it out and stretched it repeatedly and re-soaked in the hot water for another 5 and restretched. Then applied a small amount of hand sanitizer (it's 70% alcohol and water) to the left and right of the gun grip. Plastic "shoehorn" slides in place, start with the rear side first and then work the front on. Getting the front started was the toughest part. Once I got my fingers down in there and stretched it a bit, it was simply a matter of working the rubber grip down bit-by-bit. No blood!
OMG, that was good. How nice to see a realistic installation. No BS. I am pleased that I am not the only person who bleeds installing this kind of stuff. I thought something was wrong with me until now, LOL.
I Love Hogue Grips! In 1990, I used to make custom rubber Glock grips from bicycle inner tubes, and then Hogue came out with the Handall in mid 90's. I have been using them ever since. The beavertail was a great upgrade because it helps hold it in place from spinning on the grip. I have always used a hair dryer to soften mine. I have never used the "Shoe horn" method. I think it is easier to tug it in from the inside of the sleeve a little in the back, and a little in the front, and keep softening it with the air dryer as you go, It takes about 2-5 mins without any tools other than a hair dryer. I have Hogue grips on my G17, G19Xs, G27, G42, G43, and G43X. Glad Lenny finally discovered them.
just put that sleeve on and i am absolutely amazed, it makes the handle a little thicker and the grippines is amazing, if you have large or above sized hands then this is an absolute banger, feels like i got a new gun in my hand
I installed a Hogue grip sleeve on my Glock 43. It took a bit of stretching and persistance, but I did get it on. No more slide bite. Grip sleeve is worth the trouble.
Trick= boil it in water for 5mins. Helps the rubber stretch. Then spray alcohol on the frame. The grip will slide on then the alcohol will dry and it will set
7:40 was priceless. These things are tricky to get on for sure. I boiled mine in water a bit before installing to loosen up the rubber and used a rubber glove to help with grip to muscle it on. Feels great though... I use it on my gen 3 G34
So, everyone struggles with getting these on. After roughly a 20-minute struggle and making no headway, I was ready to return mine saying to myself "THERE IS NO" WAY THIS FITS MY GLOCK!! Great video. Now I know it's hard for anyone and will try it again. Thanks for sharing.
I have installed 3 of these grips. All of them were a pain to install. Once you get it started it will go on, getting it started is the hard part. Yes I was bleeding as well. Thanks for posting!
This was easily the best Glock store video I’ve seen! Hilarious! I feel your pain Lenny. I’ve installed a Hogue grip sleeve many years ago with the same struggles. Lol
Thanks for the video! Boiling water fora few minutes is key, after pulling mine out of the boiling water it literally took me 30 seconds to install this! Thanks again!
[edited for update] - I just installed one of these on the 43X last night. I actually had an easier time putting this one on than I have had with any of my others. I did not use the plastic strips, I just used Windex and installed it by pulling it on from the front of the grip back over the little lip on the rear. That sounds intuitively backwards, but it actually does work better. And then I literally just pulled down on the beaver tail and it started sliding on and then just worked it down. It took me five minutes. Follow the directions for heating it up and stretching it a little bit. Easy Peezy. What he doesn't tell you, is that this video was actually 18 hours long 😂😂 I have put on several of these things, and the only harder thing I have ever put on was an air conditioning stretch belt on a Chevy Silverado by myself. And given the choice between the two, I would have to think about it long and hard. In all honesty, once you get the grips on, they are nice. But they do not come off… He's not lying when he says that you have to cut them off.
Waiting for my wife to get ready so we can go out for dinner. Best chuckle I’ve had all day. Thanks Lenny for sending me out the door with a smile! Have a 43X MOS had the grip stippled not to long ago. After seeing this video I’d say it was the best $100 I’ve spent on the gun so far 😂😂😂 long time customer and fan!
I recently installed one on an M&P /45 compact and it took about 20 minutes of battling. Just sizing it up and you'd swear they sent you the wrong size, you'd swear that its never going to fit! I did not use the plastic, too much to manage and it will cut you. I feel bad but I was laughing watching him struggle, because I felt the pain already. Can't wait to try it out, feels great.
So I checked with hog and they specifically recommend Windex or an ammonia based window cleaner because they evaporate completely and don't leave anything behind whereas Simple Green is the exact opposite and we'll leave film on whatever you put it on unless rinsed off which I don't know how you can do between the grip & frame, but yes I have to agree the BEAVERTAIL version is an absolute game changer compared to the Handall Universal version and Hogue's competitors aren't even close!
I love this video because Lenny shows everything , even the failed in which make me laugh really hard haha . I have the same one for my shield though. Hurt my forearm muscles . But it was well worth it haha.
Great video-once again! I like how you showed the real deal and not an edited version. What a PITA! But I like the concept that you actually shed blood for your customers 🙂. I've put one on a 43 maybe 5/6 years ago and on two Ruger LCPs. Now I'm going to try to install the grip on a G42. I've lost a lot of hand strength with arthritis and may have to "hire" my son-remind him of prior college tuition payments-to install it. After several years of shooting the G43, the Hogue grip loosen due to recoil so it would twist a bit and also had the bad habit of slipping down slightly so as to interfere with the magazine. . I don't think the G42 will have sufficient recoil to be an issue with the grip slippage as with the G43. I prefer the Hogue Handall grip over Talon grip tape if I can survive the installation or bride my son. Otherwise back to Talon.
I just installed my Beaver tail Hogue sleeve today on my Glock 26. I used a bit of dish soap water but mainly used two punch tools and worked it on. Wasn't that bad.
Wow, thanks anyway. It might be the best grip in the world... but the installation... geeeez! I'm glad it was you trying instead of me. Mission Accomplished! Thank you sir.
I am so glad I didn't watch this installation video before purchasing the Beaver tail sleeve for my G26 🤣 it wasn't that hard, I used two pin punch tools and stretched it on the handle good.
I haven't a clue as to why it was so difficult. I put on the electric kettle, opened the package, cut the shoehorns and creased them. Read the directions, water was done boiling. Placed the grip in a mug, added water and let the grip soak. Used Invisible Glass Cleaner on the grip of the pistol. Removed the grip from the water, stretched it, sprayed it with the glass cleaner, added the shoehorns, and slipped the beavertail part of the grip onto the grip of the pistol. Went on easily. Removed the shoehorns. Total time, maybe 7 minutes from starting the kettle to tossing the trash. Ridiculously easy.
I took my slide off. I boiled the grip for 3 minuts. Then stretched the grip in ALL directions real good. It went on very easy. Took less then 3 minutes.
So glad to know it isn't just me that struggled with these. I put them on my 43 and 43x the same day. The 43 was "pretty easy". The 43x had me sweating by the time i was done.
I put my purchased hogue grip on tonight. I cut and had the plastic horseshoe thingy’s ready, windex standing by and heated water in the microwave for three minutes and soaked the grip 5 minutes and I truly expected much worse. Took me less than 5 minutes. Once you get it on maybe a half an inch I ditched the horseshoe things. Kept spraying the windex and used a paper towel cause it’s a slippery sucker. I for lack of better words I screwed it clockwise then counterclockwise a few times and voila it was on. Was purely luck 🍀 but it worked.
I used a vice to hold the glock, attached the grip to the front bumper of my car and rammed the vice at about 30 mph. Took a couple of tries but eventually it went on.
I put a black HandAll on my G2c several years ago. It was difficult, but well worth the trouble, and it's not coming off. Ordered OD green for my GX4 ... $16 shipped eBay. Funny how many refuse to even try. Hold my 🍺.
At least the video wasn’t edited to make the installation look simple. If I wanted a rubber grip on my Glock, I’d probably just use a basic bicycle inner tube; it’s less expensive, but you get more uses out of it.
I got one in black 3 months ago and put it on my Glock 19. It does give you a solid grip. I actually wanted it in green. Couldn't find one in green color. It's worth it.
I just received my hogue grip for my Glock 19 gen 4 so I've been watching hogue grip Install videos kind of look like it was tough but I decided to go with just a coffee cup full of hot water that's been microwave for 4 minutes and then putting the Grip into the hot Water For about 3 minutes and then took the grip out, dried it and sprayed my pistol frame grip with windex. I didn't use none of the plastic spacers that they say you can use from the package. I put The beaver tale on the back of the gun 1st and held it with my hand while I stretched the front finger groove area around the front of mag well. Once you get it started just keep pushing it and spray more windex under grip and on frame. It took me 5mins. Use a dry towel to get better handling of grip to maneuver it around to your liking. It's easy I don't see how it's so hard and Lenny has bigger muscles then me lol. I went with the FDE hogue grips on my FDE glock so nice looking and feel! Oh and I did this with my slide off cause it's getting cerakote finish. with slide on had to be even easier.
I just installed 3 of these Hogue Beavertail sleeves, one on my p365-XL and one each on my G43x and G48. They are a pain in the arse to install, but once installed they feel great. I added them for the palm swells. And let me tell ya, they're for good unless you cut them off.
Since they recommend using Windex which contains alcohol, I chose to use a small amount (just a film) of 70% isopropyl alcohol, I was able to work the sleeve on quite easily. This was on a Sig 365.🙂
Tied loop paracord thru front of hogue grip and one cord thru back of grip. Pull from bottom of cord and inch the grip up. Use windex or alcohol sanitizer for lubrication. Done! ;)
Ok I carried a Glock for over 20 yrs as a police officer. We also liked to install a rubber grip but never went through this. We used to use a bicycle tire inner tube as the grip. The best way to install is to take some water with dish soap in it and apply the liquid to the frame first. The soap helps lubricate the grip and it slides on easier. The big positive. Bicycle inner tubes cost so much less and does the same thing. Lol!
I don’t know, mine went right on. I boiled water in a tea pot and poured it into a mug and let it sit for 5 minutes. Went right on. Didn’t struggle at all. No shims or tools required. I think because it sat in a hot humid environment for a few days helped my situation.
After approximately a half hour, I just quit and threw it away, trying to put it on a Glock 26. I was able to put one on a Ruger LCP 2 with relative ease. Try using a hair dryer to expand the grip.
I found this video after spending 30 minutes to no avail to install mine. This guy is an expert and has blood on his fingers. These are too cheap to waste time returning them, so they go in the garbage.
I hit the like button because this was a good block of information, although I will not be installing the grip. I love my 43X MOS the way it is, ok I put Talon grips on mine. Awesome video though. Thank you
i installed 2 this past week on a g22 and a fn , it’s not easy but once you get the right grip you’ll be fine! i didn’t use hot water or windex just my 2 hands 😂 these are the best grips IMO
Bought the same grip in black for my 43X and didn't heat it, use any lube or vice. Started the front first and used a flat piece of ridged plastic for a "shoe horn". It wasn't easy but not near as difficult. I'm definitely not as skilled as Lenny, guess I just got lucky. Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying it's easy but I'm not sure the recommendations from the manufacturer are helpful.
I took the slide off and magazine out. Then heated the hogue in hot water then sprayed the inside with windex. Pushed it on as far it could go first shot. Then you have to roll as much as you can down from the magazine side and push front and back until it eventually goes on. Wasn't that bad maybe 5 minutes
This grip adds mass to the firearm, therefore does now allow you to get your hand up any further than the stock grip which is what the purpose beavertails is.
I use hand sanitizer as a lube for my Hogues. Works great and Lord knows after the last few years of BS we have plenty of it around. At work you can't swing a dead cat without knocking a bottle over...
I love the hogue grips but through time I feel like they don’t last as much the grip just gets thinner and thinner until it rips and Also after a long time it just slides off and you always have to push it back up
I have a confusing question I finally decided to buy my 1st Glock and I decided on a 19 gen 4 so I go on Glocks website and ALL the glock gen 4's are law enforcement and military only and they never were before it makes no sense .. .
Lol. Probably the funniest video Glock Store has ever done. 😅
I’ve put theses on many guns and I couldn’t help but laugh because I know the struggle cmon you bastard!😂😂😂😂😂

I used rubber dish washing gloves to help slide the Hogue grip over the pistol grip. Rubber on rubber helped a lot.
I am so happy there wasn't a jump cut to the end and he showed that yes it is hard but worth it in the end. Great video

Love the look of Lenny’s face looking at the camera after all the hard work and it slipped off. Priceless.
This was easily the best Glock store video I’ve seen! Hilarious! I feel your pain Lenny. I’ve installed a

enjoyed the honest reactions, it was informative and actually I chuckled during the video several times, I can relate to the struggles 😁

I have on for my Glock 43. It was quite a struggle, but I got it. Very comfortable and provides for a positive grip.

This video completely turned me off from ever wanting to buy a grip. lol.
It’s worth it and you just do it once
😂
It feels amazing once it's on.
Lol thank goodness I have tiny hands and don’t have to worry about all that! my 43x fits perfect with nothing else needed.
Just get a P365 and buy whatever 3rd party grip module you want. And you can swap back the old one or get a new one in about 2 minutes.
I installed mine fairly easy! Heated Grip with hairdryer and got it on with a little muscle

Put one on a G17 gen2 back about 94', still there and doing fine. Have one on G29 and just ordered one for G43x, well worth the time and money.

That was a lot of work 💯. First time I saw you workout, with a product. Think I will pass on this 1 ✅
Sorry, I couldn’t understand your instructions at 7:48 😂🤣😂
My daughter might be interested in the pink!
Tied loop paracord thru front of hogue grip and one cord thru back of grip. Pull from bottom of cord and inch the grip up. Use windex or alcohol sanitizer for lubrication. Done! ;)

I'm crying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 7:40 poor Lenny 😂
Use the compressed air hose method
you like air hockey it on there float it on there with air pressure
That was funny as shit! Yes, pain in the ass to put on but worth it once it’s on 🤣
If I need a thicker grip, I think I’ll just carry my G45!, was very entertaining to watch though, thank you!
Pro tip, rub a very thin layer of Dawn dishwashing soap on the inside of grip, no soaking in hot water, slips on in seconds and dries fast👍✌🏼
After approximately a half hour, I just quit and threw it away, trying to put it on a Glock 26. I was able to put one on a Ruger LCP 2 with relative ease. Try using a hair dryer to expand the grip.
I would use K Y jell. Water soluble and very slick . Or a little pure silicone grease as it's very slick for a little while.
I want them for my glocks but that will cover the magwell screw and don’t know if it will fit right but it will work on the 43x👍🏽
I’ve been using handle it grips and they apply and remove extremely easy without leaving residue.
Went to the Nashville store location was extremely pleased with the service
I found this video after spending 30 minutes to no avail to install mine. This guy is an expert and has blood on his fingers. These are too cheap to waste time returning them, so they go in the garbage.
LOL THIS IS ACTUALLY HOW INSTALLATIONS USUALLY GO IRL LOL
I hit the like button because this was a good block of information, although I will not be installing the grip. I love my 43X MOS the way it is, ok I put Talon grips on mine. Awesome video though. Thank you
After seeing that struggle, I won't be buying the product.
But I appreciate the effort.
Makes me feel much better about how challenging it was for me to get one of those on my pistol 😅
When can we expect the extended control kit for the Gen 5 to be back in stock? You da man Lenny!💪👍
I ordered mine back in like Black Friday... can't believe I still haven't received mine lol
This is so funny, might have to buy one too try for myself
excellent video, I applaud you sir, no easy feat!
Good out look about the G43X sir. Take care and be safe. See you on your next video.
i installed 2 this past week on a g22 and a fn , it’s not easy but once you get the right grip you’ll be fine! i didn’t use hot water or windex just my 2 hands 😂 these are the best grips IMO
After the hot water use a hair dryer to loosen the rubber, works like a charm!
who knew you could cut yourself putting on a rubber grip..lol you're a trooper Lenny!
This is hilarious!😂😂😂 Still gonna buy the grip too.
People wanted the finger grooves removed and now a sleeve with finger grooves just to get a beaver tail
I thought the same! No finger grooves for me. =)
Ive put these on my Glocks and Ive found its easier to use some gun oil slides in a lot easier
You know you’re doing it right when you start bleeding! At least that’s what I tell myself!
Nicely done Lenny.
Might be a good idea to keep heating them with a hair dryer to keep them soft while installing.
You did a great job, loved the video 😅
Blood, Sweat and Tears. just like when I work on my stuff. Love ya Lenny!!
Did it with just rubbing alcohol and my bare hands did it in 5 mins on my ruger security 9 didn't warm it up or anything like that went right on
You said the same thing I would have said, "Fu**!" Right before the screen went colorful haha.
I want a video with only 7:43 to 7:45 on an infinite loop!
As hard as it is to apply, I'll just go with Talon grip tape. Would heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun help?
Yes
This grip adds mass to the firearm, therefore does now allow you to get your hand up any further than the stock grip which is what the purpose beavertails is.
Good shoulder separator for sure! Think I'll stick to Talon Grips.
Voce should be connected to the desk?
I use hand sanitizer as a lube for my Hogues. Works great and Lord knows after the last few years of BS we have plenty of it around. At work you can't swing a dead cat without knocking a bottle over...
Just got mine today got it on in 5 mins
“Just takes a little bit of muscle!” he said 😂
I love the hogue grips but through time I feel like they don’t last as much the grip just gets thinner and thinner until it rips and Also after a long time it just slides off and you always have to push it back up
I have a confusing question I finally decided to buy my 1st Glock and I decided on a 19 gen 4 so I go on Glocks website and ALL the glock gen 4's are law enforcement and military only and they never were before it makes no sense .. .
I did none of this and used my bear hands an muscled it on looks great really good feature
Pro tip- Use the Blood, Sweat, and tears as lube instead of the windex.
I did it in like 8 min. Aftermath, it feels great, but the blister on my thumb doesnt. 😅
I got a Glock 42 and I put mine on with the hot water and it went on real easy🔫
