      @Bilal Al Amin I lived in Vrindavan, UP $ 60.00 USD. per mount for studio apartment in new building. I was offered apartment in Navadwip, WB for $ 500.00 for the whole year. I stayed on the beach in Puri, OR for $ 5.00 per day if you rent monthly you can save even more, much more. INDIA means shopping around. My advise is, Rent during the low season.

    I think the grocery estimate for India for a family is very off, while perhaps it may be possible to sustain on Rs. 1500 per week that is VERY LESS. If you consider only dry goods (rice, dal, beans, oil, flour, etc) then I agree, however if you are taking into account fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, butter, and meat then it goes up to I would say at least Rs. 3000 or more, depending on how much meat and types of fruits etc. per week. Plus normally included also under grocery shopping budget would be cleaning supplies, toiletries, detergents, etc, which definitely wouldn't fit in the 1500 budget as well.

    • @indrajitgupta3280
      @indrajitgupta3280 Рік тому

      I don't agree, but then, I am vegetarian; people who buy meat and fish definitely pay more than 1,500 a week. I pay around that, other than splurge on stuff - ice-cream in tubs, feeding my addiction to a particular soft drink, stuff like that. The splurges would be more.

    One problem is the unfair exchange rate Rupee to Euro. The Rupee is actually worth more. In Europe the problem is that the left parties became insignificant. That made life much more expensive for the average people. But as long as the normal people have no problem with that and still vote for Rutte, Merkel or Macron it seems we've got what we wanted...

    I like the expression when you say the price in Netherlands has sky rocketed, which is very true on a average there is increase of 10 % every year.. I still remember in 2013 where I can go and see 5- 6 houses, but now one house is viewed by 10-20 people.

      Then why doesn't govt encourage building more houses? Scarcity is artificially created, supply is intentionally controlled, most of land must be in hands of a few. In such situation, prices are bound to increase.

    That was very entertaining, thank you. In terms of restaurant comparison, what would an average meal in a "hipster" restaurant/cafe in Bangalore cost? I recall you had a meal in one of those restaurants in Indiranagar (sorry if I spelt it wrong) in another video. I think this might make for a better comparison to the average restaurant in the Netherlands. What do you think?
    I'm guessing that the Bangalore average restaurant prices you mentioned may be more for eateries rather than a "proper" restaurant. I would consider eateries to be just a step or two above street food, in terms of pricing, they aren't significantly higher and they remain very accessible to locals.
    Just before covid lockdowns, I was lucky enough to spend some time in Bangkok, and the prices in restaurants (especially mall cafes and restaurants) were just as pricey as in Japan, Hong Kong & Singapore. So I'm wondering if that might be the case with Bangalore restaurants too?

    13:50 actually thats incorrect. A brand new hatchback car can cost as less as 4 lakh in India. And hatchbacks are the most sold category of car in India. For 10 lakh you can get a good sedan like Ciaz or MUV like Venue, Nexon etc. If you compound all the cars sold in India, maybe you could get the average cost of 10lakh, maybe thats how they calculated it..but still seems a bit off to me..

    Great thing about you channel is, You cover very diverse topics that no one thinks of everyday but, would love to see. Keep these videos coming, they are very informative. Yes Dollar or Pound stretches very far in India, especially the service industry is very cheap due to high population. That also explains how Billion people live in a country where wages are very low.
    I used to live in Hyderabad 6 years ago with 6000 INR/month. Shared Hostel room with Internet(it's slow but hey..) and food used to cost 4000 INR(55USD). And I used to spend rest of 2000 INR on street food. Diversity of Street food in India is Insane, I almost used to try 1 new food item everyday. Those were the jobless days where I was living off of my parents. Now I live in US, It almost feels insane how affordable India is, especially when you are job less.

      Purchasing power of Rupee is far more. that's why India's nominal GDP and GDP-PPP differs a lot. PPP gives you the idea of how much you can purchase with same money in different countries. In that regard, India's GDP is at no.3 and is 0.7 of China's GDP and about 0.4-0.5 of USA's GDP. Keeping that in mind, India isn't really poor, nor are Indians, since cost of 'healthy' living isn't really expensive here.
