Hi Roger, thanks for your advice ! I killed more than one zygo, unfortunately .... Recently got two more and already killed one ; repotted it straight away, and now understand I shouldn't have !!! So your observations are very welcome !! Keep up the good work !
Great video Roger - so glad you have cracked the Zygo code! They’re some of my favourite orchids. I have 3 also - all doing well now, after a rocky start! I know of a grower here in New Zealand, who grows Zygo hybrids in big pots of composted horse manure down to 5C in winter, with high light! The bulbs are enormous and they flower with each new growth. I guess they have adapted well!
Thank you so much, Roger, for the tips with clear rationale explained! I think it makes sense. Can’t wait to experiment it myself. Wish me luck please~
Great Zygo presentation. Will try these again when my environment improves. You could do a presentation on how to handle oncid type climbers and IDing unknowns as they bloom also. Thank you again. Very helpful .
Thanks. Getting an accurate ID for many of the Oncidium intergenerics is often futile as the nurseries don't register them (it gives away their secrets of how the cross was produced).
Thank reminding about the lighting. I really think mine was getting too much light over the winter as the leaves are much lighter than in the past growing season. Hoping by placing it back in that spot the leaves get there lush green look back. Appreciate your time to participate and great information as always.
Enjoyed your video as usual. I am growing my Zaygo in my garden in LA & my low temperature in winter gets to 7c, & my Zygo seems very happy & pushing it's third growth for this season, growing vigorously throughout fall & winter. Go figure 🤔
I'm reluctant to use much feed when plants aren't growing much (winter) and in media where it stays wet. But I will increase the feed for these when the longer days return.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai Most of my plants are really active at the moment (probably because light and heat) and I'm feeding low so a little increase should be fine (not going 200)

I think the extra light helps with better bloomings.
Hi Erica, I'm from New Zealand as well, I've known people growing Cymbidiums in horse manure and as you say they have passive back bulbs.

Good luck.
I love the new grow room! It is beautiful!
Thanks.
Thanks for joining in on our care collab. It’s such a delight to see you settled in to your new home and grow space. I’m so happy for you.
You're welcome.
My word your Zyglos are looking good, you’ve cracked it.🤩
Hopefully they will continue longer term.

'Thanks for that video' Roger!
Excellent advice. My growing conditions are similar to yours. I have 1 zygo. Doing pretty good 👍. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🤗
You're welcome.
Ive got a Louisendorf x Rien Mein. Definitely didnt like repot in July. Starting to come back. Should be good by spring
Great video as ever Roger! Thank you!
You're welcome.
Excellent! Thank you!
You're welcome.
Glad to know that coco husk works for you. I had some problem using that media. Maybe I didn’t rinse it well
It takes a lot of time to prepare (rinse) and so far, I haven't been using it long enough to know how long it lasts.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai yes, I did watch that video.
Great info again, thanks.
You're welcome.
Hi Roger great care video loads of tips and information on this 👍
Thanks.
Excellent content! Thank you, Roger. I almost want to try a Zygo again! 🙏
On several occasions in the past, I've said 'never again'.
Great informative video Roger, thank you.
You're welcome.
Good luck
Thanks.
Very encouraging! Thank you much! I might just brave it and buy one.
Make sure it's got a good root system which is always a good way to start.
Thank you so much, this was really helpful!
You're welcome.
Thank you for the interesting video
You're welcome.
😁
I have yellowing leaves on my Zygonisia Roquebrune " Seafoam " . Should I panic ?
Leaves on the older bulbs are ok - new leaves - not good.
It is the leaves on the smallest bulb. Everything else looks great..@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai

I think they grow better in brighter light than is 'recommended' so outside would be good.
I found out I'm under feeding so that's the first thing I will change 😁

Well you do waffle about sometimes.
