Great question. The reason why you tend to swerve is because you are looking too far-behind over your shoulder. Use your mirrors more frequently and for a longer time before checking the blind spot, this will allow you to feel less need to check over your shoulder by looking too far back and for too long. Also, when checking the blind spot, once your neck has turned ninety degrees ( as far as it can turn without moving your shoulders) then you have covered the blind spot.
Changing lanes and getting on and off scare me ughhhhh I'm a nervous wreck just watching I drive on the city streets just fine not one problem but even thinking about getting on anything with a "way" at the end blows my nerves severely!!! I need help lol 😰😰😰😰
We all have limits. Yours is the anticipation of...never experienced "way" before. Since you have a desire to do this, practice on service road looking for an entry and exit lane that does not merge on, but allows exit from same lane, then retry and change on as normal.
Sounds like you have the ability to do this already. The anticipation, ideas of no exits, and perception of higher speeds is giving you the ughhhhh feeling.
Anthony, this is normal for new drivers. Since you express a desire for improvement, try this: Drive in the middle lane while following another driver at their steady speed. The trick is to maintain your spacing even when others are not braking. By doing this you control your own flow. U R not lead footing because you are aware of it.
Do you have any tips on how to hold the steering wheel straight while checking over shoulder for blind spots? I know it is exceedingly important to check blind spots but by doing so I have a tendency to swerve.
I drove on the highway for the first time yesterday at night actually and I was so scared I started swerving and I can't keep up with the speed bc I get so nervous to look down to glance at how fast I'm actually going its scaryyy!! Do you have any advice on how to calm down
Congratulations, the first time is always most difficult. Suggestion: practice highway on early morning weekends. The novelty of it combined with darkness will windup your anxiety. Be sure the next exit is within comfortable reach.
+TrickyLover It isn't bad when you have an instructor, but it's much more terrifying on your own. Driving at Night on the Highway is even worse though.

My biggest struggle on the highway is keeping a steady speed. I always end up accelerating too much or too little. I wish I didn't have a lead foot.

Same!

Yes. Try using the highway when traffic is slower. Swerving is normal for even beginners on normal roads when they overdrive their own abilities.
Was wondering why this looked so familiar. I LIVE HERE. Lmao
A great place to live and drive when the roads are good
When I start driving im just going to go around town not on the freeway.
Freeway is the best easiest place to drive by far
Freeway is by far the easiest.
Not a bad idea to begin locally. But be sure not to avoid the highway for too long.
Watching from Shirley LI
Thank you for watching Melanie, I've made some more videos you may find useful

+TrickyLover driving on the freeway is easier than driving through the city streets. all you have to do is stay in your lane and you'll be good.
Well said. An instructor helps to sooth out the doubts.
