Fan since the early days. No, I will not be going to see them at these obscene prices. I'm old enough to remember when live music was available to all. Sadly, it's only a rich person's game now. I mean look at Glastonbury. Used to be " the people's" festival. Now it's only accessible to the wealthy middle classes. I know times change....but it's a shame 😞

They cancelled the London show today. Hundreds and hundreds of tickets left, selling as low as £9 this morning. But it was down to ‘illness’. I knew this would happen. They fucked up big time with the pricing, and to be honest even though I’ve been looking forward to this for months and am pretty devastated - I’m glad to get my FULL PRICE ticket back and be done with it all. Been an absolute shambles.

Bands like Pearl Jam have been famous for so long they’re not in touch with reality anymore. They also have families now (most) and it’s more of a business now. Imagine what Kurt Cobain would think if he were alive. Maybe he would also be charging these type of prices. Funny I started writing this review about Cobain before I finished your video mentioning him.

If you think you're being ripped off, do not buy tickets. It's all supply and demand. If tickets don't sell, the prices come down.
    Very simple.

Approximately 15,000 fans paying even $100 per ticket, which is far below the average price, would/could bring in 1.5 million, not counting the amazing amount of merch they sell.
Most venues give large scale bands 90 to almost 100% of the ticket due to the huge amount of concessions the venue sells.
Yes they have crew, buses, catering, security, airplanes, tambourines, etc etc to pay for, but I'm pretty sure 1.5 million will cover those expenses and still make a tidy profit, without completely gouging their long time loyal fans, that they are supposedly so grateful for.

I got shut out of the fan club presale, but was one of the lucky ones who lucked in the TM sale, and got a single ticket for Philly Night 1 and Night 2. After fees each ticket was about $185ish. The whole premium ticket thing they are doing is so dumb. Basically they are holding a certain amount of tickets and selling them at premiums pricing to “meet the cost of touring demands” hence the price range being $500-$1700. For certain venues the premium prices are much higher, like MSG and Wrigley. Baltimore and Philly had “premium tickets” which were listed around $300, don’t get me wrong that price still sucks, but it’s better than $1000. The closer it gets to the show though if these tickets don’t sell they tend to get re-released at face value.
Also. when it comes to MSG, for some reason this is a huge destination show for all Pearl Jam fans. MSG is always one of the most in demand shows of any PJ Tour. I never understood why though.

When you add the exponential increase in costs of putting on concerts and touring, to the fact that no one pays for albums anymore, its inevitable the ticket prices would go through the roof. I dont think it is sustainable and the only option PJ will have if fans cant forgive the fees is not to tour...because they cant play 100 small shows with lower prices at cheaper venues, they are all pretty much 60 years old.
Personally, as a 39 year old who spent most of my adulthood priced out of any sort of luxury like a concert or football game, I do sympathise. However, I am delighted with my tickets for London and Manchester at £160 each. That week will be highlight of my year and to me worth every penny. Selfishly, I am glad the prices weren't cheap, as I would more than likely missed out to scalpers and casuals.
There are tickets for London for £125, about $250.
Europeans are pissed with the prices but does seem a lot higher in states.
At least we will all get to listen to their new music free, as well as their entire back catalogue.

Like many have said, the answer is to support smaller artists at smaller venues...just hope the ones you love to see don't get big, because if they need to play at Maddison Square garden to meet demand, then all of a sudden they won't be so cheap no more!

It’s not exclusively a Pearl Jam problem, many bands charge these prices… Pearl Jam is just another example of a growing trend, which sucks because this is something that they used to fight against and feel strongly about.
As for the band’s history, it’s ironic that they protested Ticketmaster and their prices (monopolizing ticket distribution), only to charge upwards of $1000 for tickets 30 years later.
