- Who's the most underrated player in OU Softball history. I think I have the answer. Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments if I got it right or wrong. #sooners #collegesoftball #oklahoma
Nicole May is a class act! Never complained, humble, and understood and accepted her role. She did a fantastic job and definitely underrated. I prefer to call her the"secret weapon"!
There were points during the win streak when Bahl and Storako struggled early in the season. May quietly led the team (and sometimes the nation) in a several categories. But she was content with being a #3 starter, or a setup/closer. She was always supportive and a great teammate. She definitely has a major part of 4 championships.
100 percent, Kevin. Wish every single team moving forward could have a Nicole May.
How did bahl struggle when she led ncaa in era
100 percent agree with Nicole May as the most underrated player.
Thanks, Glenn! Hope all is well.
May did that to herself, she never advanced her senior year. And constantly gave up early runs and homers. Patty knew not to play her that much in the world series.
@@dariussuite1605The umps were never on her side. She has to put the ball in middle or they would call it a ball.
@@rissatheboss1453 You're right, in the Florida game the umps were calling balls when they were strikes and did force May to throw a pitch that she didn't and shouldn't of had to throw giving Florida some runs. I actually commented on that. But that doesn't take away the way she played all season basically giving up home runs early and often.
@@dariussuite1605 She did have a bad days. All bad pitchers will have bad day. May has a good Era and she knew her offense will help. It will calm her down. There was a game, where the defense was really bad and it could have been prevented.
One who never gets mentioned as one of OU’s “Mt. Rushmore” is Grace Lyons. Her leadership and defensive abilities were second to none.
In my opinion, Grace is the best shortstop OU has ever had. And there's been some incredible players at that position.
I agree... Maybe something you guys don't realize is she's the first softball pitcher in history to win four national championships in a starting rotation
Great point, Jimmy! Thanks for watching!
She was not a great pitcher but was dependable at times and terrible sometimes and basically the whole season this year. She never advanced in her senior year. And mPatty Gasso knew not to play her too much this world series. She is one of the most loyal Sooners but not one of the best pitchers. I've watched her whole career and I'm not buying it. No argument necessary.
I’ve been saying it the last few years to anyone that will listen, Nicole May! She should have been on the post season panel/press conference.
YES! Would have loved to hear from her one last time. But she did get on the TV broadcast after the game and said the team should win an ESPY. And I agree!
Yeah, she was a steady, dependable team oriented gal. Many fans thought she had moments that she gave up the occasional home run but, Jordy Bahl did that too at times. Fortunately, we had the freakishly good Jayda Coleman to rob one or two of those I remember. Statistically she's the 10th ranked pitcher and tied for 5th in saves of all OU pitchers. Not too shabby at all. We were lucky to have her. Wish her the best.
Great stats, John! Her numbers standout among some incredible players.
Jordy Bahl in no way did what Nicole did when it came to giving up hits constantly and giving up home runs. Don't compare the 2. Patty Gasso knew not to play May but a couple innings in the world series. And played Jordy basically the whole world series last year, and was one of the main reason we won. Don't compare the two. That's Apple and Oranges
Grace Lyons. Never got enough credit for being one of the best to ever put on a sooner uniform in my opinion. Best defender in OU history if not the best in D1 softball history. She was that good. Not to mention her leadership being second to none
Agree 100%
Thanks for watching!
All time great MAYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely agree!
Thank you!
May
Got it! Thanks for watching!
The most underrated sooner definitely has to be grace lyons. She started a shortstop as a freshman after they moved Romero to third for her. Look at her stats pretty solid. Possibly the best shortstop of all time in ncaa history. Also a great leader was captain for the record breaking season, props to grace for that.
Jen Rocha
Nicole of course
Ice water in her veins!
CONSISTENTLY!!!
Who cares.
🤡
I care
Nicole May
Correct!!!
Yall, Patty threw 4 or 5 pitchers in game 2 of the wcws bc she couldnt trust may to get the job done herself....
Yeah I don't think that's true at all.
You're right Nicole didn't pitch good this season and constantly gave up early home runs and gave up hits like candy. She never advanced in her senior year. But is one of the most loyal Sooners but not one of their greatest pitchers.
She wanted Maxwell to have a turn. Maxwell is also a senior too.
