This is my ssssshhhhh. I swear, Peter, Seal, Sting, Fiona Apple, Bjork and Sade add an out of this world enchantment to their performances. You develop a more immense attraction to their artistry because it capivates you and lures you into a whole different dimension.
You can’t do Peter Gabriel without doing his classic “Sledgehammer” the music video was one of the most requested in MTV History back when MTV actually showed music videos.
Peter Gabriel is an icon, he skyrocketed the career of Youssou N'Dour, who is one of the most successful Senegalese musicians, who has done incredible humanitarian work for the youth of his country, they are signing in Woolf‼️☮️🫠💐😎💯
This performance is such a vision of what this world could be- thru music. Peter Gabriel brought World and African music to the fore in pop music. He was a major actor in the Free Mandela movement.
Thanks Twon for your reaction. This is one of the most joyus performances I've ever seen. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Peter Gabriel was in the band Genesis with Phil Collins
Oh my! You will have to dive in to Peter Gabriel head first, because that’s where you will be tripping from. He is deep, unique, inventive, and never a dull moment. Ahead of his time, for sure.
Going to see Mr. Gabriel again in September. Always a good show even after all these years. Off the beaten path, but for another masterpiece of live music try Procol Harum - Whiter Shade of Pale 2006 Live in Denmark. You will not be disappointed
Peter Gabriel is a true Performance and Visual Artist and Citizen of the World. I just saw him in concert this Fall and nothing has changed. His musicians are always top notch.
I saw this tour concert! It was amazing. Danced around so much the guy next to me switched seats with his girlfriend. 👍. I think this was the first song of the encore; at the end of the concert they all went back under the dome and disappeared.
Whenever I get to feeling down and like there’s just no way people are ever going to learn to live together and treasure all the different kinds of beauty we each bring to the table, I watch a reaction to this. For about six minutes all that shit goes away. The core of his band are amazing musicians, David Rhodes, Tony Levin and the amazing Manu Katche on drums, but then he rotates a cast of world stars and brings them in with respect for their own talents. It makes shows like this an expression of pure human joy IMO. I always say on these that we should put this into our time capsule to space because if they see this video maybe they’ll give us the benefit of the doubt when they actually get here lol. Thanks for the react!
Peter introduced me to world music, and I am forever grateful! His "Shock the Monkey" remains my favorite video of all time: ua-cam.com/video/CnVf1ZoCJSo/v-deo.html
@@climber1954, yes, at the end you can hear him saying "Grazie! Del mio cuore!" (at least from what I could catch), which if I'm correct means "Thanks! From my heart!" in Italian. In post-apartheid South Africa you wouldn't see an all-white audience like that.
Hi Twon.(Smiley eye's)😂.I've never heard this song before, but it's a song you can get lost in if I was just listening to it. They seem to be having fun on that stage. That's what music is all about I suppose. I always say "There's a song for every emotion"
Tracey, I was fortunate enough to see Peter and this band preform a set from this tour when he joined the WOMAD festival as the closer for a night of incredible bands from all over the world, and I did it from the second row. It was the best night of music I had ever seen, and I've seen some great concerts!! Look up the full concert on UA-cam. 🌹
Dont apologize for not pausing. Reacting doesn't mean constant remarks. It's just as enjoyable watching someone listening and enjoying the music. Seeing someone smiling and bobbing their head is brilliant. In fact, people who constantly pause ruin the vibe for themselves.
I saw this live at the Capital Center in Landover, MD in the early 90s. Tickets = $25. Peter was lead singer in Genesis before going solo. Peter just dropped a new album that I hope to get as a Christmas present.
You’re so cute reacting to the noise in your background, you know? what such as life! And people should be patient and understanding it is what it is just enjoy the video and that’s that. Anyway onto this song, the songs from back in the day it’s during my time and to me, one of the best songs ever written, but this life performance is everything. When I watch this to me, this video is love it’s piece it’s acceptance. It’s everything.!
I immediately thought this song belonged on The Lion King. Perfect melody an words. Just has that almost Jamacian/ African Vibe. Uplifting, joyous, happy-happy-happy
new sub after seeing your reaction to my favorite artist. I have probably seen 1000 concerts and this song was my absolute favorite single concert moment. His early 1970s work with the English progressive rock band Genesis is music at its most fulfilling. Peter Gabriel should have been knighted for his lifelong, selfless dedication to global human rights, but I believe he turned down a knighthood (and is divorced from the daughter of the Queen's personal secretary during the 1960s). His is a fascinating biography. Any recommendation would be a fantastic one.
Peter Gabriel was always a “performance artist;” he does a lot of fancy stuff in the studio, but he really shines onstage. The female singer is Paula Cole, who was about to release her first album, “Harbinger.” In 1995, the year after this concert, I saw her open for Sarah McLachlan on the “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” tour. (The pushback Sarah got from music execs for having a woman open for her - industry “wisdom” was that a female main act just *had* to have a male opening act - led to Sarah starting the Lilith Fair.) She’s mostly known for two hits from her second album, “I Don’t Want To Wait” and “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone,” but honestly, her hits are her least impressive songs. It says something about her that Peter Gabriel showed up to provide vocals on one of *her* songs, “Hush Hush Hush.”
This song has a deep tribal feel to it ~ the drumming especially ~ it makes people feel connected to one another ~ which we truly are! Love this song and Peter. The woman singing is Paula Cole. Check out her album, This Fire.
@@joeblow2069 Peter quit the band, they auditioned many lead singers but chose to promote Phil. That's what happened, they didn't need to replace him with another vocalist.
Loved your reaction! If you want more raw emotion and meaningful lyrics, check out the Peter Gabriel video for "Don't Give Up" featuring Kate Bush who just hit a major surge in popularity recently after her !985 hit "Running up that Hill was featured in an episode of Stranger Things. Take the deep dive, it's a rabbit-hole of amazing words and music.🤙
This song was written about actress Rosanna Arquette who Peter dated for a while. Toto keyboardist Jeff Porcaro also dated her and their song Rosanna is about her as well. She must have been something.
Various ages, cultures, races, languages all smiling and singing and dancing together.
Imagine how different this world could be.
Beautiful performance, beautiful song. There's so much going on, but don't overlook the fact that Tony Levin is absolutely KILLING it on the bass.
Killing it! Always!
He’s one of the greatest of all time, such musicality.
This one is deeply special.

What I like about the dance moves is that they are simple but effective. It takes a lot to know what to leave out.

Enjoy the ride my friend 😊😊😊😊
Peter Gabriel is a great talent and a real talent isn't afraid to share the stage.
Same concert, same performers, equally inspirational and moving... "Shaking the Tree"

I just knew he was gonna go nuts when the great Papa Wemba started at the end.
An amazing team performance!
If this immaculate live performance doesn't get you in the fields then you ain't got the feels
You could simply say this song just feels real good to listen to.

Peter Gabriel is worth listening. In this live the drummer is Manu Katche (1/2 French & Ivorian). He played with most stars of that era.
Was fortunate to have seen them live about 10 years ago. They played this...outstanding!
👍❤🤙
The connection and joy is so contagious! We should have all been watching more of this during the pandemic, and less of the news!🌍💞👊
Not to bug you but this concert, "Secret World" is on youtube. The entire thing has the same interest and intensity level as this song.
World music
This version is like a religious experience.
This performance is in South Africa I believe. 😊
Face it Twon- you respond to great music!
Actually,it as filmed over 2 concerts in Italy

This had to be a Epic Concert! Peter Gabriel is a Genius.
One of my favourite prog rock performers. ❤

Great vibe. And it just keeps building. Joyous. That is Peter Gabriel.
This was truly an iconic performance! And it was great to see you get so much joy from it Twon! Great reaction!!
Peter Gabriel is 🔥 Talk to me is another great performance from this concert. Lay Your Hands on Me from his Athens concert is also amazing.
that entire concert is sick bro
It’s world music😊thank you for your awesome reaction
Notice the little song Peter wrote to introduce the song.
The actual song begins at 3:37.
Play this song when you're watching the person you love the most in your life sleeping
BTW, this was the last song after a very long concert!
It's impossible to NOT like it! Such a fun and enjoyable mood!

Recent performance, very touching..
That’s an African vibe
This is just really good?

Paula Cole. That's her name. Your Welcome!
Peter Gabriel was the front man for Genesis before they decided Phil Collins can do it from his drum kit. He's got such an iconic voice.
That is not what happened at all.
@@joeblow2069 Peter quit the band, they auditioned many lead singers but chose to promote Phil. That's what happened, they didn't need to replace him with another vocalist.

Interesting how you use the word "they" as if they are apart from Phil.
@@joeblow2069 Yeah, I probably worded it wrong. I meant to say that once Peter left they didn't feel the need to replace him.
According to Gabriel, the lyrics of In Your Eyes can either refer to a romantic relationship or a divine one between the listener and God.
The song feels African to me.. With a touch of other cultures sprinkled in. Such an uplifting vibe

I believe its called an "Afro-Beat"
Check out biko by Peter gabriel
Great reaction! I have great seats to see him in October at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX !
give blood by pete townshen is another great like this
It's African......Influenced....
World Beat 👏🏻
Kinda like an afro-carribean vibe
You really can't do better than this.
Phil Collins or Peter....who was better?

No. You cannot react to this with hammering in the background. Do it in the wee hours of the morning or something. You cannot dis the music.
😅 this song what's to the people of Africa. He saw the pain in their eyes
