Bro great freakin coverage on these!!
From the anamorphic king himself! Thanks man, just about to head over and check your vid out. 👍
Jheeze dude the colours! Awesome footage mate, these zooms look great !
Thank you my man! Yeah they're great!
I concur!
Great video as always Ed. You are slowly turning into one of my favorite filmmaking youtubers cause you get the perfect sense of mixing great cinematic footage and also explaning each product properly. Please keep it up and thank you very much.
I appreciate this! A lot of work goes into these longer vids, lots of shooting and reshooting, but it's worth it, I learnt a lot in making these too and it gets me out with my camera, so I can't complain!
I love the footage you have captured on this.
Thanks!
Thank you for the comprehensive review, it's greatly appreciated most of the video is spent on content shot with the lenses and not talking heads. Also the quality of the test footage itself is phenomenal! It's a pleasure to watch such a long video with so many good test shots!
Ah thank you! And yeah I don't want to subject my viewers to having to stare too much at my ugly mug, I'll let the sample footage do all the talking!
@@EdProsser pff nothing wrong with your mug handsome, just great to get as much of the lens footage as you can get in the limited time that one review offers c:
Man , you and Cam are on another level. I feel like guys could be given any camera or any lens and make it look amazing. Great review my man. I love my Laowa 90mm 2x macro, they make great lenses
Thank you Brendon, I really think kit is not the limiting factor anymore, most modern lenses and cameras will give you amazing results! Laowa are certainly doing some great things
Great video Ed! The footage looked gorgeous!
Thanks man!
Amazing and informative as always Ed!
Thanks for checking it out dude! 😎
I'm real selective about those to which I subscribe, and I LOVE your creative sense and what you've shared (though I just discovered you today! 😛) - Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks for checking out my little channel!
Great video Ed! the 50-100 in very appealing to me for FF sensors. We have so many options now it's crazy!
I know! It really is, can't wait to see what else comes out this year
Very informative and beautiful footage. I'm considering getting these myself. What was your situation regarding the mount? Did you get the lenses from Laowa with the RF mount or did you use your own RF/PL adapter?
Thanks! These lenses were in PL and used a PL-Rf adapter
Weird question but do you know where your friend got his puffer jacket?? Looking for one at the moment haha!
Hey! It’s Uniqlo U.
@@pierluigicampa Thanks
Always love your videos even if it’s not something I’d use. Your images are just beautiful.
Could I ask what monitor you use when you manually focus?
Thank you again for another great video
Thanks! It's the 7in Atomos Shinobi
@@EdProsser thank you. how’s the fan noise? I heard it was loud?
@@littletheatrefilms5825 it's never been problematic in an interview situation and only noticed it when turning it on, I believe you can also turn it down... I think also if you have the screen brightness turned down (as you would indoors) then it doesn't spin up. I also power it off v mount battery so that may help keep it cooler
@@EdProsser that’s interesting about the v mount. Thank you again. I can’t tell you how much I love your channel and your work.
Hey sorry king, you've dropped your crown
Thank you sir 🤴
thank you!!
Really nice, I ve got the 65mm amber flare (and the 28mm) Vazen with my komodo, and we shoot a lot of commercial/art portrait project with it. The flare on the 50 100 looks like a lot of my vazens. This zoom could defeninitly complete my kit, because there is not 100 mm amber flares in Vazen! thanks for the review!
I still really need to check out the Vazens and the Proteus lenses! We're really spoilt for choice at the moment. Definitely check out the 50-100 it definitely speeds up the workflow having the zoom and not swapping primes.
Great video Ed. what prompted the new hair do!?
I've had this for a few years haha! But I always wear a baseball cap so you probably do not see it much (it also grows out very quickly!)
Superb Video 💯
Whoop!👍
The footage looks great.
Thanks I had a lot of fun with these lenses!
Have you got a speed booster on with the komodo?
Not with these lenses unfortunately, they're super 35 lemses. The set I tested were also PL and have a protruding rear element. While technically you could speedboost them and get some fullframe coverage, not sure the mechanics would allow for it.
@@EdProsser i find the komodo is only usable in low light if ur at f1.4. Surely 2.9 is almost unusable even with post noise reduction
@@cruisechill1813 I didn't use any noise reduction and it's usable in low light. You're not gonna have night vision, but you can still get clean low light footage from it. I usually expose and meter for ISO400 where possible. But I've gone up to ISO 1000 and still got nice clean footage.
I was going to say....although I do love the footage you porvided....it really doesnt have that much of the ol Anamorphic Look to it 😃
It's not a heavy distorted vintage look, everyone's got diff tastes. I think there's enough there for it to be anamorphic though
Nice review ... I kinda want 28-50 for my BMPCC 6k now ... I can review it from being top-down above my desk :D
It'll get coverage on that cam and should look great! If you do get it and fancy doing so I'd love if you could use my affiliate link to order the lens!
@@EdProsser I was kinda looking at their indigogo campaing, but if I'm going to buy them it will be beginning of 2025 :D. Mortgage first :D
@@JoATTech I hear ya! I don't get to keep the lenses unfortunately, but I'd love to buy them, can't justify the cost at the mo.
Well these are rather tasty. Great vid Ed!
Yeah we're getting really spoilt with affordable kit atm! Not great for the ol' bank account
anamorphic and zoom, i'm surprised you were able to cover so much considering how many applications these lenses have
Yeah they're very versatile! I think they'll be great for doc work, very efficient to use and just about lightweight enough to shoot handheld.
yea the invasion of cheap anamorphic lenses while parallel more and more content is requested / framed in 9:16 aspect ratio. even final video is in wide screen it will be watched on tiny mobile screens by 80% of the audience. so unless you are shooting for cinema - its a dream coming true but the audience will not notice the difference (just the DOP with GAS is happy about it). crazy times
Lots of small to mid tier projects can still be shot in anamorphic, not everything is destined for 9:16 and even if it is, if you're acquiring in high enough resolution, 6k+ you can still get 9:16 frames from your footage. Depends on the client / job! Also most mobile phones their horizontal screen resolution is widescreen / anamorphic friendly with a 2:1 ratio.
@@EdProsser exactly this. We`ve also started turning the content for social 90 degrees to use all screen realestate. If anyone got interested, it`s easy to flip the phone.
i dont get this whole affordable anamorphic thing, image looks pretty bad to me.
Everyone has different tastes and that's the great thing about affordable kit today, it gives us all the choices we want to get the looks we need. Some projects simply can't justify the crazy vintage anamorphic look, or might not have the budgets to buy / rent them.
