I love that you made this video. Because I just got work on a friend's 94 ram w250 12 valve and it's only running around max 15psi boost stock. I know they aren't boost monsters stock but it used to run well and she's spent near 20k this yr on it and still doesn't run well. And I noticed when I first drive it I thought the pedal was really weird that it was so close to the floor. Like where is all that throttle movement 😂 I em deffinitly going to fab a bracket to extend the pedal out a bit from the floor. Good fix!
I still remember the difference this made on my 93 first gen! It was literally night and day after taking up the throttle cable slack, and swapping the position of the throttle cable link on the pump!
I don't have a part number or anything. I went to ace hardware and they had a little thing full of different sized plastic spacers so I just grabbed a few sizes and then use the one that fit the best.
@@decentgarage Hey! I was asking about the inch thick plastic block from your body lift that you put between the fire wall and the gas pedal mounting bracket ?
@@jimb7922 oh gotcha! Sorry about that. Yeah i will try to find the link on Amazon. It was a 2 inch by 36 inch piece and i just cut it in to a bunch of 2x2 pieces but it had been working great.
Great idea, I’ve never even really thought of checking mine out. I’d be curious to see where it sits compared to yours. Maybe I’ll have to video my 0-100km and give you a run for your money!
I could not find the video , however i just went through this on my 95 12 valve . 10 plate slide all the way forward. 215 injectors, 3 k governor springs . 18 deg timing. This think would smoke like crazy if i put my foot into it . When it was a automatic it was not really bad because a automatic will down shift and spool up the turbo. That and a lite foot not a problem. However when i went to a g56 things changed. Finally i got tired of the smoke and installed the heavy afc spring and started trying to dial back the smoke . I finally adjust the spring past half way back and still smoke . This is a pain in the butt on cruise control. FINALLY I had enough and set the afc housing all the way back. That fixed the smoke and it stll runs good . Cruise is a lot better also because it want black out 2 lanes of traffic. Drives a lot better , now with the g56 .
My 95 had same problem. I fixed it with some j clips for rabbit cages. Actually got the truck cheap because everyone else that looked at it thought it had a major problem.
I had the same exact problem with the Death Charger. 70's, 80's and 90's pedals all have different throws. Originally I had a 70's pedal in the DC and everyone called it Skid Steer mode because it would not get over 2000RPM. If you watch my Moab episode youll notice that the RPM never change haha. I solved the problem by installing a 1991 pedal that I had. But nice mod with spacer on the 80's pedal. easy fix!
I'm actually thinking this is an 84 pedal. It still feels like it should have more throw. Maybe I'll do a video and swap the pedals from the og crew to this one for kicks and giggles
@@decentgarage No Problem, I just wish I new the exact year they were out of, I think it was 1977 and the one I used was out of 1991. But the 80s one I had I have no idea
Hey I just bought my first 1st gen. Is there a way to adjust the brake pedal position? It’s about a six inch difference from the accelerator pedal. Thank You
i have a 93 with 3 speed auto and i feel SOO much better about my truck. I am all self taught and dont have a frame of reference and I love my truck (had it one year now) and it feels the same on the pedals whether or not i'm pullng 4-5 tons. BUT even without a load... a slight uphill from standing makes people behind me impatient LOL. Always wondered if it was an issue I was unaware of since it drives nice though. glad it isnt.
Hmmm, I have a 93 with a NV4500. I’ve never timed it bu my I’m sure it’s quicker than that. I’m wondering if you have some bad tuning. Also, unless I’m hauling a load, I don’t use 1st gear, one less shift to get to road speed.
Put a new cable/ adjust the cable and the throttle. Throw in a governor spring. My 91 wouldn’t go over 60. I adjusted the throttle linkage. Then did 3600 rpm spring, and moved the ve pump Star one hash mark. Just recently put in a heim joint throttle linkage adjuster.( old one would pop off). Did 60# valve springs for piece of mind, exhaust and intake. Doubt I’ll ever get over 3200rpm. Just the throttle upgrades alone helped a lot. Just need to do some transmission upgrades to the old 727 3speed.
I've had a few older vehicles that had slop in the gas pedal cables, and they all have really woken up once that slop is taken up. Steel cable can stretch over time.
Tim, I really think it's the Christmas lights that's causing the issue ;) PS My original 92 and orig 84 both had a piece of fabric tape on the cable end on the accel pedal. Just thought I'd mention it. It was to help it from popping out of the pedal.
@@decentgarage will be interesting to see. I originally thought the P pump was the clear choice... but after reading the Facebook page posts... im not so sure. Seems like a tuned VE with injectors and a turbo might be a way better daily driver / tow rig.

My answer to those tail gaters
Give them a light coating of unburnt fuel across their windscreen
