Without a doubt the most under-recognized band to ever inspire GENERATIONS of musos all around the world !!! Starting with Led Zeppelin and working your way down to countless garage bands through the decades. And probably still inspiring. Loved them from the start ( 1969 for me) and their music, art, gift, is timeless. Fudge forever !!!
I just discovered them today and I couldn't agree more. How is this.possible, I am 34 years old and Pink Floyd is my favorite band, The Beatles - my sisters and I have never ever heard of this amazing, trail blazing band?!!
Had the pleasure of seeing them back in 67 or 68 with Jimi Hendrix. The ONLY person who could have followed these guys. My brother and I sat with mouths open as they just blew us away. Tim Bogert was the most energetic bass player I have ever seen. So much energy and so tight they were. We heard their record but Live was a whole other experience. Just loved them!
This is so beautiful...People better realize that this band is one of the pioneers of Hard Rock still around with a fresh sound out of the late 60! with the muscles of decades of experience playing in the intimate environment of a club..wow...people this big usually play in stadiums
@@fog4928 They have original stuff scattered through the albums (side 1 of Renaissance is all original material) but they are most famous for the covers, that doesn't negate the influence they have had though.
Carmine Appice: Highly revered by peers and fans alike. A strong drummer with showmanship and technique. Always enjoyed VF. A fun and talented band, that were at their best playing live performances in front of their audiences. R.I.P. Tim Bogart. He put the bass as an upfront face to his showmanship and talent. Thank you Thereyouhaveit for bringing the memories.
This is a trip back in time and a wonderful time it was .... miss the sixties and doing my best to be in and love the present. Good to see this group still making music .... does a soul good.
WOW!!! That was TIGHT!!! That took a lot guts to stray that far OUT with this tune, they definitely put THIER stamp on it. It's got some serious epic moments and amazing dynamics. Interesting vocal arrangement too, those harmonies were great.
This group is yummy. They have so much talent and artistry. They take a song and weave it into a work of art. Showy, classy and they give variety and 110% to their audience.
This version has to blow all the others out of the water! Ethereal, otherworldly- thankful to these musicians for asking the questions of the time through their music. Magnifique!
I used to play this on the jukebox in Swansea University Union Bar over and over again(10+ times) until people were screaming to take it off. I still love it. This a great live version.
Mark Stein's arranging skills really brought this song to a new level. Carmine's drum work is always great and this piece is simply indicative of one of his ground breaking works in 1967! Sadly, Tim is always missed in these performances. Tim is not only a phenomenal bassist... On a par with Carol Kaye is terms of innovation with the instrument, but a superb vocalist in his own right.

"Most of the songs we did, we tried to take out of the realm they were in and try to put them where they were supposed to be in our eyes. 'Eleanor Rigby' was always a great song by The Beatles. It was done with the orchestra, but the way we did it, we put it into an eerie graveyard setting and made it spooky, the way the lyrics read"
I loved this group when my older brother bought and they did their rendition of the Supremes while the Supreme version was still out and fresh, I was hooked. Then my brother played their version of Sunny..fan for life. My brother passed at 32, 1982 but the music he inspired me, priceless. Great job brother was 8 years older
Bravo, you are Great. I saw the Vanilla Fudge in person. They were terrific. I was at a club, a few feet away from the stage. This group I could't believe how magical they were. The singing, playing their instruments & the way they moved around. I always felt very lucky that I saw them in person. Thank you Vanilla Fudge for all the great music.
Two other favorite covers from that debut album are Ticket to Ride and Take Me for a Little While. Then on another album their interpretation of Season of the Witch.
I've always loved Vanilla Fudge when my sister brought home their first album and I listened to it over and over again; think that was back in 1968. I was a junior in HS. I always liked the Vanilla Fudge renditions of popular songs. I thought they did the song even better than the original. My favorite is still "People Get Ready." Cheers from eastern TN
Saw this tremendously great band in 69 and several times in the past few years. Met them personally, great guys. Cannot get enough. Keep it going until you can’t.
Appice did a clinic in my hometown when I was in high school. We were all blown away, and I couldn’t wait to get a set of one of those multi-Tom kits - he was playing the new Ludwig Octa-Plus!
Best cover of a very difficult song !!!! What a great group They had a real nice mix of different rock genres Never received their proper dues of a great band !!!!!
Just watched them do a brilliant version of bang bang on the beat club in 1968 and then this comes up 43years later wow they still have it. And look at the drummer,he hasn’t aged at all👍
I always loved this version of the song and still listen to it. Nothing beats a Hammond B-3 with a Lesley 147 or 910. Just getting the vocals that tight takes some real effort... there aren't many three-part harmonies anymore as no one wants to put the time in practice. It's explosive and the emotion conveyed really gets to you. I miss TIM and feel that Jeff Beck's Aussie bassist is about the only person to come close to Tim's improv. on stage.
The band has reunited in various configurations over the years, and is currently operating with three of the four original members, Mark Stein, Vince Martell, and Carmine Appice with Pete Bremy on bass for Tim Bogert who has retired from touring.
one of the GREATEST guitar players Vince Martell... he's so under-rated in the music community but made history with the licks he played.. MARK is my HERO! what can anyone say about Carmine? that hasn't been said... 2018 they still ROCK!! Pete is a welcome addition..
I met the guitarist a few years back at a record show in oaks Pa. I think he will be there again this year 2023 thanx giving weekend Vinny Martel is a cool dude, reminds me of a friend who was a navy guy too
I’ve never heard this version but I always wanted to create a rocking version of Elenor Rigsby! To be honest I was expecting a harder rendition but this was very cool!
Freaking SYMPHONIC! OPERATIC! Stood in awe before this band at Aaron Russo's Kinetic Playground, Chicago, 1969 ... Baby it was Cold outside, but hot and gooey on the inside ....
I did an interview with Ian Paice, and he (a longtime friend of Carmine's) stated that Deep Purple (originally called Roundabout) wanted to be the British Vanilla Fudge.
These kind of gigs are very often not so good. But it is easy to hear the greatnes of this band still comes to life here and there. Indead. Tim Bogert is not to be replaced - among the very best bassplayers.

Carmine Appice has got to be the most unique drummer I have ever seen POINT BLANK.
Agree . Can't my eyes off him
Carmine Appice is a GREAT drummer , I love his style.
he's an instrument in his own right
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is the way to cover a song. Own it.

DrWolfman3 With Mason Williams at the Golden Bear, Huntington Beach, Calif., 1967. Mind-blowing for a 16-year-old.

Love the Vanilla Fudge and their interpretation of songs. KEEP ME HANGING ON is one of my favs. Actually the whole album was great.
Aging like fine wine. Not too many left from that era playing with this much energy
Great - simply great. It's good to hear Carmine Appice again. Loved his work with Beck and Bogart.
So refreshing to hear someone have the balls to do a cover with their own heart !!!
My favorite version of Eleanor Rigby! Have a great 2023.

The Fudge The Best Of the BEST.
Quite an influence on Deep Purple and Uriah Heep I think
Aren't they 1:57 basically just a cover band?? Have they ever done anything original ??

I first heard this in 1967-8 and still one of my favorite albums. Still one of my most played albums at 77 tears old.
Always Loved Their Music back then today 70th Birthday Celebration Still Amazingly Great to listen remembering those past years og greatness
I've been a huge Fudge fan since the late 60s, with 1969 being the high water mark for psychedelic rock. Saw the Fudge twice, amazing stuff.
Two other favorite covers from that debut album are Ticket to Ride and Take Me for a Little While. Then on another album their interpretation of Season of the Witch.
Wow! So fantastic to hear that organ backed by living legends!!!!!

It's really incredible how fresh and capable they sound.
Absurdly undervalued group!

This is by far the best version of Eleanor Rigby I've ever heard... ❤
Seen these guys live in Vancouver,B.C. Canada, back in 2004 still phenominal !!
Saw them at MSG in '69......loved them then, love them now.
Appice did a clinic in my hometown when I was in high school. We were all blown away, and I couldn’t wait to get a set of one of those multi-Tom kits - he was playing the new Ludwig Octa-Plus!
My lord, what an excellent rendition after so many years! This is top shelf work.
I saw them play at the Action House on Long Island way back in the Sixties one of my Favorite bands,
I am always amazed at these performers still having lovely full heads of hair all these years later !
Some of them might be fake, most of them must be colored :).
Mark’s hair has always been sus, even in the 60’s... lol. But who cares?
Awesome Band
Best cover of a very difficult song !!!!
What a great group They had a real nice mix of different rock genres
Never received their proper dues of a great band !!!!!
Unbelieveable arrangements, monster musicians, I've seen them maybe a half dozen times, LOVE THEM.

Love it, great interpretations!
Great band and music saw them
At the Filmore w Yardbirds
Sedate, very soulful, a bit surreal, and very sublime. Great all around.
You are a sophisticated musical consumer.
Mark Stein you're a God in the keyboard world. Fudge followed in the tradition of the Beatles having three lead singers, each one great!
Brilliant!
I remember recording this on a cassette tape in 76 when I was 13. One of my favorite song with lots of horns.
Under rated.
These are Still great playing the songs the way they recorded them back in the 60`s .
This is one ambitious band. Their artistic and variety they give the listener is GREAT !

I agree Vince Martel is greatly underrated. Martel is a Top Shelf Guitarist.
The greatest version of the Fab 4 classic I've ever witnessed!!! Awesome is an understatement.
Wish I were there ... They're still amazing :)
If you like this version, try Eleanor Rigby by australian group from the 60s Zoot. Its a killer.
Bought this album when it 1st came out!! LOVED entire playlist!! FAVE version of Eleanore Rigby!!! Have no idea where it is, now!😢

Saw them last year November in Old Saybrook, CT........before that the last time I saw them it was 50 years....What an experience to see them live
Excellent performance by the VANILLA FUDGE! DGM/
Nothing like a Hammond pushed through Leslie speakers!
A Hammond with a stack of Leslie Tone Cabinets makes the sound of Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMEN.

Wow ❤️
Saw them at jacks in Springfield Va 2004, with psychedelic light rack just as was in late 60.
Saw Vanilla Fudge, Spirit and Led Zeppelin in Denver, Colorado in 1971. Led Zeppelin's first concert in the United States
Happy Birthday Mark Stein !

Four guys.
Very first band I ever saw. The Golden Bear in Hunnington Beach. Early '68 I think. They were a 3 piece & I was maybe 18 & stunned!
Incredible.
My first LSD experience was a Fudge Concert in 1968..I was never the same after that..
Could you tell me if it was more good as bad for you?
Yes, this band is psychedelic pure, Just listened to the Renaissance album.
Saw them doing this @ De Boerderij in Zoetermeer. So cool.
Totally awesome
Angel voices❤
Great band!
I saw them in Newport RI when they were the Pigens theey were awesome a few weeks later they were Vanilla Fudge
total cool they still had it.
Without Vanilla Fudge, there might not have been a Deep Purple. Discuss amongst yourselves.
Deep Purple was a Vanilla Fudge tribute band. The organ sound. Love this song. Thnx for posting.
I did an interview with Ian Paice, and he (a longtime friend of Carmine's) stated that Deep Purple (originally called Roundabout) wanted to be the British Vanilla Fudge.
No Led Zeppelin, No Hendricks, no british hard rock without them. They all admired the Fudge!
Agreed 100%
Deep Purple's "Help" rendition feels like that indeed.
Really great!
TRUE ARTISTS. YOU WONT SEE MANY OF THEM AROUND NOW
