This is literally a dream come true guitar for me! Absolutely love it.

Just recently got mine. After 30+ years of playing Standards I agreed with myself that I deserved a Custom. The wife agreed, lucky me. Happy with it on all levels!
That’s awesome! Nothing wrong with Standards, but a Custom is just something else.
I just got my LP Custom 3 days ago. I got mine in Ebony. It's a beast of of a guitar.

It’s over a year since you received it, but I named my Alpine White one Cocaine because those 490R & 498T pickups in that modern Custom body, especially in Alpine White is incredibly addictive to play. For me it was to the point that I blew the tubes in my Marshall head lol.

I had, had an Ebony one I had bought brand new in 2001 (I traded it for a 2007 Custom Shop Custom in Cherry Burst) and Studio from 1996 that both had the 490R & 498T pickups and they’ve always been my favorite Gibson pickups. I am really happy to have them once again in my Alpine White Custom, they have absolutely incredible tone. This guitar itself as I am sure yours did as well, arrived setup in such a way I didn’t even need to change the strings. The setup was perfect & she plays like butter right out of the Gibson box. Rock on my friend! I know it’s been a little while now but Congratulations on your acquisition!

I bought a month ago a Gibson Les Paul Studio Alpine White 2008, for $1,000 bucks and I think worth every buck I've spent on it...

The only negative thing I have to say is that the gold hardware is already beginning to fade from where my picking hand rests while I’m playing. But this unfortunately is unavoidable.

It’s a wonderful Guitar ain’t it I got mine and I was like “dang this is great” I also got a J-200EC acoustic-electric and it’s awesome I use them both professionally and I love them so people looking into guitars those 2 are wonderful

I'm getting a Les Paul Custom Black ebony
Congrats man, it's beautiful. It's funny how Gibson uses the 490/498 pickups in the Studio (cheap) and the Custom (not so cheap) personally, I love those pickups. My Les Paul Standard's name is Emma.

Studios and customs are the same electronically. The difference is pretty much only the paint and the paint process. Oh, and binding.
@@OscarASevilla Do the Customs use the PCB wiring harness like the Studios?
@@Zoso981 les Paul's always hand hand wiring for the most part I think, up until like 2008, where givson started using pcb wiring to streamline the process, or make quality control easier.
I assume, since customs and more finely built and paid attention to, that they would do hand wiring most of the time though. My studio has handwiring as well.

I les Paul was just shipped yesterday. I went with the Silverburst, Alpine White is my next purchase I think. Anyone notice that the Alpine White and Silverburst LP Customs seem to sell fast?
Nice! Silverburst is definitely on my list of wants. And I think that’s why. We all want one! Haha
It’s because Gibson makes like twice as many Ebony customs as they do White and Silverburst are even less.

@@DaveWebbMusic Either a Gibson Blue Widow LP Custom (look those up, they're stunning) or a custom guitar based on that Blue Widow finish.
@@dildicus8625 OMG YES!!! I’ve been eye balling those for a while too! That blue is something special. I have also a seen a few in the same finish but green. Talk about amazing!
@@DaveWebbMusic Yeah, red, green and blue are my favourites, although they've made them other colours in the past. They're super hard to find so I think I'm just gonna end up getting a custom built guitar with that finish on it.
What year is your Custom ?
It’s a brand new 2020 model. Comes with covid and everything haha but for real, ordered at the beginning of 2020 and it arrived January 2021.

thinking about buying it but worried about the yellow tint on the laquer? u still think its worth getting the white one? seen videos showing yellowing up the neck? looks beautiful
Oh man. That’s a tough one. The white is beautiful but unfortunately it’s not made to stay white. Mine has already begun showing some yellowing in certain areas, not bad, but still there. Even the gold hardware on mine is rubbing away where I play.
It’s disappointing, I still love it, and I’m slowly coming to terms it (very slowly 🙄), but I bought it to play, so I just play it!
I think all Gibsons are gonna age over time. That seems be their “thing”. So regardless of what you go for, it won’t stay perfect unless you lock it up.

Honestly, I didn’t specifically choose this over an R9. From what I can tell, the R9 is a reissue, whereas mine is technically not. Make wise, I wouldn’t have a clue what the differences are, but I’m happy.

Usually there is a tech bench Photo , was this used with a after market case?
No this was how it arrived. I ordered through a store in Queensland and they passed it straight on. Odd that there is no tech photo, but it’s all 100% brand new from Gibson.
Any regrets? I am also in Australia. I ordered my white Les Paul Custom in November, originally they estimated Jan 2021 delivery. Been delayed so many times, latest update is mid July.
Not really. I think it would’ve been cool to tweak minor things and make it “more custom”. But overall I’m happy.
Mine ended up being a 12 month wait.

Yeah construction time. When I ordered it, that particular store had recently placed their order for 2, one black, one white. Apparently just how long it takes.

It’s honestly hard to have a good opinion, because I’ve found I don’t treat like a “normal” guitar yet. I am definitely overly cautious!
However, all seems good so far! Only thing I can say negatively is that the gold on the the bridge pickup and the bridge are already beginning to fade from my playing it. I think this is an unfortunate inevitability...
@@DaveWebbMusic Think of the fading as the beginning stages of what will become your signature model. They will have to painstakingly recreate those wear marks at the Custom Shop. :-)

I haven’t actually weighed it yet. But I did gig with it recently, and after a 3 hour show the shoulder was feeling it!

That’s the big question.
I think so. In terms of playability it is on par with some less pricey models, but it does feel slicker. If that makes sense. There’s a level of sentiment that comes along with it too, so I have no regrets.
If it was someone wanting just another guitar, it probably wouldn’t be the way to go.
@@DaveWebbMusic just got one in black. Only 2 left in Europe it seems haha. The good thing is they hold their value mate. You'll be able to sell it for what you paid for it.

You don’t like the pic guard? On this one I really like it. I have the pic guard off my standard cos it has a beautiful grain top, so in that case I agree, but on the white I think it adds something.

Ah yeah nice! I had one of those for a short while, but swapped it for something else. I didn’t love the satin finish.
But I have 3 ESP Eii’s. Love them!
