That level 3 not punishing due to being in burnout did it, Punk mentally checked out after that. All credit to Problem though, dude adapted and played his ass off after their previous match.
If you watch Problem X reaction even he thinks he was punished by the level 3, he looks away for a moment and when he hears the block sound the first thing the does is grab, he was not prepared to punish the blocked level 3.
He checked out after he couldn’t pressure
The same thing had happened twice earlier against Daigo when he tried to punish Ken DP while in burnout (missed a neutral jump, than a DI punish)

Talent is kind of the issue. His play style is too basic. He's carried by his talent. Punk with average talent will be worse than average competitors with average talent.

@@TestSubject173punk himself has said he isn't a lab monster, he usually takes his combos and setups for Twitter and UA-cam. I feel like he doesn't get creative too often as a result, so once he's downloaded he rarely changes his style but rather tries to brute force it.
SF6 always delivers with the big tournaments, this lcq was amazing. I legit was on the edge of my seat the last couple of hours.
Thank you Capcom for making such a hype game, and putting all this money into the first milly first place in history.

@RiaJin it's literally Blanka's defensive options bro. It's a guess. Look at the winners finals when he 3-0 problem. He guessed right on EVERY oki situation. That was literally the difference. In GFs he guessed wrong a lot. That's legitimately why it's hard for him.

Don't discredit Problem-X either, he read Punk like a book and had his Cammy fully downloaded, thus the desperate character switch. It's insane how he made Punk's Cammy look bad.

Yes, for the capcom cup i think i will only start to watch after the group stage because some of the group are just weak.
Overall yes, but group F is going to be extremely sweaty.
We haven't seen the main event yet. When you're that close to a million dollars there's no way it won't be even sweatier. People are gonna bring out all the secret tech they've been hiding for that moment.

@@thuroria7631 I think he got a hooligan when he didn't mean to and that messed things up, then with Luke he def dropped a combo but that could be lack of practice with Luke so he didn't get the path to lvl 3.
To me it just felt like Punk didn't read Problem X well, but Problem X was just reading him almost perfectly, doing the wake up meaties the right time and blocking and then punishing the wake up cannon spikes etc.
The gap between Punk’s skill level and mine is smaller than the gap between how easily he gets tilted and I don’t.
Not factoring in burnout blockstun is something I would do, so to see it _twice_ from one of the best in the world this weekend made me feel a lil' better
What a grand final, Punk looked a bit mentally defeated after a couple of tough moments but Problem-X played so well. Great commentary from Jammerz and Rynge as well.
This could have been Punk’s best chance. Still PX’s surprised Blanka is just so good. Props for everyone in LCQ. Punk, PX, Tokido, JB, Kakeru, Zhen, and many more. They deserve the credits as much as the CCX participants do.
The top 5 of lcq are better than 50% of the players qualified for capcom cup.

Can we just appreciate the fact that in Grand Finals, for arguably the most competitive tournament in this game's history so far, the two characters are not the usual top tiers (Luke, Ken, JP etc.)? Beautiful to see, especially with the lack of character variety in SFL and other tournaments.

Punk needs a sports psychologist. We were all literally playing Punk Fighter 5 at the end there. He is clearly still one of the best in the world. But for some reason, he gets to the Grand Finals and becomes easily discouraged. Man, he just losing something in the finals.

Sights seen in the past…He's a great player, but he tends to lose focus and the will to win.
Punk’s Level 3 getting blocked due to the burnout block stun being less than the normal changed the trajectory of the game dawg. The mental damage was just too much.
He was already losing 2-1. The trajectory stayed the same
@@phase_1471 It was 2-1 before Problem X got the reset. With that Level 3 he would’ve taken the round making it 2-2, putting himself in a position to win his final game whereas X needed 4 more games to win since he was in loser’s bracket.
It 100% changed the trajectory of the entire game.

@@trixdream, no. Punk has gotten second place too many times to too many different opponents for this to be about Problem X. It is psychological. He basically defined how SFV was played so he certainly does have enough prodigious skill to at least win a major tournament. But whenever he gets to GF, it ALWAYS false apart. Remember his matches with Xiaohi? He beat Xiaohi up until the finals and then he completely lost all his edge.
The hard truth is that he chokes when it is time to win a major tournament. And it is disappointing to admit it.

He's very strong but he's not a top tier, his normals are not on the top tier's level and neither his drive rush. He makes up for those in other way but still not at the top

Punk always psychs himself out. He could've won that. Still, he kicked everyone else's butt, and so did Problem X. Problem was just the better player at the last moment when it counted. I'm very sad to not see Punk in Capcom Cup since overall he deserved to be there. But, I'm glad Problem X will be in it. I don't think he deserved it as much this year, but he's still one of the best players on Earth and it would be weird to not see him in it. Also, what is up with Blanka being so good in SF6?

get that counterpick cheese the fuck out of here. That was desparation, he had no answer for that Blanka. For all the years he used Bison, he had zero reversal. I'm sure it feels nice for him to have a character that actually has one.

16:45 this interaction shows Punk's lack of confidence in high pressure situations where he's been historically bad. One guy lacks it, the other doesn't. Problem didn't even care, he walked up and whiffed punished him at a severe disadvantage in burnout. You're down 2 games and you do that combo? That's not alpha, you don't leave all those resources on the table down that badly. Show some confidence. Too scared with the potential burnout and Problem living from it, he did not want to risk spending it all and playing more neutral with him. He kills him if he gets level 3, but he didn't even want to see if that would even happen.
That's always been the difference, every single time Punk has lost in big moments. He plays too safe and scared. His confidence absolutely falls off a cliff.
Pure domination here, great ground game shown by Problem X here beating Punk at his own game, and then some. 29 min video, I thought this was gonna be close, and it wasn't even. He out footsied him and ultimately played confidently, much to the opposite of Punk in every single big moment in legacy forming tournaments. The whiff punishes here were insane by Problem. He smelled the blood in the water and took him out to the woodshed.
Let’s be real BLANKA is ridiculous and a very stupid design in this game. He is like beta Kimberly and should not have a reversal.

Blanka is kind of a broken character I’m surprised people complain about gief more then blanka he have od up ball jump back od dive kick tap parry. He is a difficult character to pressure because of all of these options need I remind you jump back on dive ball is safe which gives him a 50/50

Fuudo had this issue before too, but he has won EVO before, and pretty convincingly too.
So we got a Capcom Cup without Punk, Tokido, Kakeru and Daigo, but we got Julinho, Fandroid, Samoel and many others NN. GOOD.

Some of the best defensive options in the game. Even the Japanese players have a tough time guessing. Makes you question your oki. If they wake up parry a lot you'd think to grab, but they have an option for that. Upback ex ball, which is plus on block. You have to guess a LOT. Not to mention his lvl 2 is a whole lot of guessing.
He’s not top 5 and he’s barely top 10 if the game had no parry system he wouldn’t be consider top 10

I think that Blanka is a sleeper character in SF6, and have thought so for a while.
People get so blinded by the brainless yolo Blanka players that they don't realize that Blanka actually has a lot of legit stuff. His lvl 2 is amazing, one of the very best in the game. He gets oki off almost anything, he has incredible corner pressure, and strong corner carry. He also has the best divekick in the entire game.
His crouching strong, Standing HK and Back MK are all really good buttons as well.
