Jackie wouldve owned half of Bayville by now if he had stayed.
If he had stayed for those fat checks that Gary and Robin got from sirius he would def be the richest dude in Bayville.
Would’ve loved to hear more from Tom - John was so eager to talk but added nothing here
Would always rather hear Tom than John. He’s funny because he’s so serious, John tries to be funny and isn’t
Jackie committed career suicide, and did this to himself. There is no other way to spin this.
Suicide generally is self inflicted lol
@@yayayaokoksuregenerally. There is suicide by cop and physician-assisted suicide though, to be fair
Stuttering John is incapable of deep thought.
PAMALER ANDERSON!!!!
What makes him so shamelessly funny to listen to 🤣
He's also incapable of stopping that explosive retard laughter. He can't express himself without it.
You can get rid of ‘deep’
"Nigerless cage"
Howard: I don't know what anyone makes, it doesn't impact me.
Oh, he was trying to teach ME how to negotiate. I hired a couple people with that money.
From what I hear, Howard was given an amount for his show, all talent costs came from that. So, it does impact Howard who makes what. He's a liar
Yew logic.
@@ethanmurray2203 That was the arrangement at Sirius but this was still @ K-ROCK where CBS handled the pay.
Annoying Robin telling Howard how he feels was in rare form on this clip.
She is unbearable
The worst.
Another function that Robin didn't attend... yet she had the most to say about it.
@@jerryjeromehawkins1712absolutely. She wouldn't even let those that were there get in a word edgewise. For the life of me i cant figure out why she doesnt have suitors lining up to marry her 😂😅
Man. A million to make a couple racist jokes and laugh at the boss's jokes. Pretty sweet deal.
Not even good racist jokes either, racist jokes for which the stereotypes at play are from the 1970s
Was this Shuli paying his dues ?
I’ve heard the Jackie quitting story 50 times and it never gets old how obviously petty Jackie was
Agree. It really is one of the biggest blunders in show business history. Jackie's over confidence is astounding. For someone as limited as Jackie, 50 years old, absolutely no chance of being hired by anyone else for anything, even after intense networking every day of his 15 years on an extremely popular show - for him to not consider his final deal to be a winning lotto ticket - is unreal. He truly believed they couldn't live without him, and he was the backbone of the show. I can't even imagine the moment Jackie realized that Howard was done with him. Shock is an understatement.
Petty? Jackie was the head writer and on air personality for the "number 1 radio show of all time." How come Howard is allowed to fight for every penny, but if anyone else does it, then they are "petty?"
@Stranded NYer Wrong. I also heard the show in real time but I take the "kid" remark as a compliment. 😁
@@fudgicle1427 the show sucked after Jackie left. Even with Gass and artie, and florentine, it was okay, but definitely was terminal when he left. End of story.
@@bluntforcetrauma8192 Jackie had every right to fight for max pay..but at the end of the day, to walk from that gig was a massive mistake. He doesn’t make that that salary 10 years now. Idiot. But the show was every bit as good with Artie. 2 totally different shows and I loved both. Howard was much funnier with Jackie though.
Makes you wonder what role Jackies wife had in him quittin the show . She obviously didn't try and talk him out of it .
They called her soon after the debacle and she swore that she did not push Jackie over the cliff. In this case, I actually believe her. Why? Because her own delusional music/acting career was highly dependant upon association with the show and Howard's plugs. (Folks also seem to forget that during this time Jackie was still a raging alcoholic.)
@@mulemule not sure if you saw or heard the interview when Nancy said within 8 weeks of Jackie leaving the show they were separated and agreed for a divorce and Jackie quit the booze . I guess Jackie was just greedy and never would been satisfied unless he got exactly what Howard got . According to Howard , Jackie has been stagin walk outs since 1985 .
@@mrbill9248 Exactly this.
I believe she did encourage him. She was just as delusional as he was. Remember that time when she claimed to have a more pressure filled job than Howard and Jackie in regards to her "job" making Jackie's shirts and mugs, etc.? She believed that if Jackie left the show, he would still be making loads of money from their mail order business alone. I think Jackie would've been a pain in the ass anyway, but Nancy definitely played a part .
I missed this because I was in a Clear Channel market and the show was pulled off the air in February of 2004.
F Jackie!
You blew it!
Damn shame.
Is that Shiuli, calling in with the game?
Sounds like him. (Urp.)
I love how Howard always plays dumb and acts like he doesn’t know the numbers and what people are getting paid like he doesn’t dictate anything 😂
Tom was his whipping boy who howard used to be the bad guy in negotiations, he directly told Tom how much to pay.
Always cracks me up how fast Nancy left him
Jackie’s an example of someone who thinks they are much more talented than they really are and what happened after he left the show has proven that
Howard spent years talking about Nancy, and then gets offended if Jackie says a word about Beth.
I hate that we used to believe the pelican back then!
But this is the absolute truth you dink.
I mean yeah he’s full of shit but not sure how he’s off on this one. Jackie did this to himself. Robin and Fred were team players and look at how much more they made in the past 20 years
great clip, love the thumbnail. Howissey-Wighead
Jackie turned down $850,000.00.
Per year? How do you know?
Yes. $850,000/Year.
I know because I’m well informed on such matters.
Trust Me.
@@alanhawkins808 wow, jackie made the worst business decision in history..lol
To be fair. He didn’t turn it down he was just playing hardball for the final time. He was trying to eek out a few more dimes. When he realized he wasn’t getting anything else he took the deal, but by that time howard realized he could move on without Jackie and be fine.
@@brianfoley3045 not to mention he was given plugs on the air thrown into his deal, which means he had access to millions of listeners to advertise all of his side gigs and standup shows.
Too many people trying to tell the same story
Right? Every time someone attempted to share a crumb of specific _facts_ someone else would highjack the discussion.
Jackie would've made 5 mil a year if he stayed
Does Robin ever shut up?
It’s her show too. Dipey!
Jackie was the worst business in the world number 1 worst of. All time he wasn't needed on the show the show got better when he left
It would be nice if Robin was editted out of this clip
@Stranded NYer I've been listening to Stern since before you were born, bi*ch. Sometimes Robin is insanely annoying -- all Stern fans know this
@Stranded NYer Dude. Robin stepped all over this story. Me ME ME!! EWEEEWWWEEAAAAA!!!! I WAS A PART OF THIS TWWOOOO!!! You want a perfect example of ROBIN not shutting the fuck up for two seconds? King of all blacks called in to the show one time to ask Howard about judaism, and rabbi's. In that call, the conversation got around where howard said this phrase. "Well, I think this is the meaning of life.... ROBIN: WELL THIS IS WHAT IIIIIIIII THINK THE MEANING OF LIFE IS EEEEWWWWWWWWEEAAAAAAHH!!" Robin sucks dude. She's jealous of howard. And she steps on the most memorable parts of the shows history.
I'm just stunned Artie wasn't.
Robin Ophelia is the worlds luckiest person with the worlds easiest job. Im glad she survived cancer and actually like her these days
Robin is now, and has always been garbage! She’s an untalented piece of crap! She is the luckiest person in the world. I listened to Howard from 1992-2020…I can’t take him anymore, he’s a completely different person, and the show sucks now. It’s nothing but a woke/liberal joke now. Such a shame
"I'm a loyal guy"
Cut to twenty years later...
I mean he’s still loyal to Robin, Fred and Gary at least even if he’s now a woke Imus
F Jackie.
Robin didn't like Jackie exploiting Howard because that's her job. She's made a whole career, that she's completely unqualified for, based on guilt tripping Howard.
Howard fights for every cent but God forbid if Jackie tries to get decent pay.
I love Jackie but he blew it. He had a good thing going. His ego and his greed clouded his decision making abilities. He walked away from probably 50 million bucks over the years.
Jackie had limited talent. He was overpayed
Hi. Decent pay? Just so we're clear here, Jokeman was making 350 THOUSAND + dollars when he left......... and that was in 2001. That is about 580 THOUSAND dollars in todays money. A YEAR. Jackie is a moron.
@@epicswag5509 Still not enough especially in NYC. Remember, this is the biggest radio show of all time and Jackie is one of the top 4 personalities on the show and the head writer.
But that's just it: it WAS decent pay. Even Jackie (I forget on which forum) acknowledged that it wasn't really a $$$ thing.
10:09
Howard lies, misrepresents the truth, as always, to portray himself as the good guy, victim, etc. If Jackie screwed up--fine. But tell the truth, provide the facts. Jackie sent Howard an email, documented everything. These guys have a story about their lunch with Jackie, and Howard takes over, rambles on, doesn't want the other side of the story to be heard. Here we are how many years later, has Howard pulled any BS behind the scenes with former regulars on the show, staff, etc.?
Jackie quit. End of story Jackie quit. Howard didn't misrepresent anything. When you quit a job your employer doesn't owe you anything.
@@stinkyham9050 Howard always fought for Jackie in the past, eventually he got tired of it. I remember the show when he told Jackie, if he stages another walkout, he was done - no more fighting for him.
@Stranded NYer The best part is Howard predicted a few weeks earlier that Jackie would be gone permanently after the last negotiations. Jackie was a completely hack and the show got so much better after he left. I think most fans agree that the Artie years were the best the show ever was.
@Stranded NYer Also let's not forget if Jackie stuck with tbe show he would have been best friends with Paul McCartney. Lol.
@Stranded NYer I started listening to Howard in the late 80s. Jackie was pulling those moves since then and Howard would always go to management and fight for him. Eventually he got tired of it, and I think in early 2000 he told Jackie he wasn't going to management anymore. He gave Jackie fair warning. Didn't Tom call Jackie and ask him are you sure you want to do this?
From 7:08 is one of a couple places where Howard loses me. We’re not talking about poor quality morning radio. We’re talking about, supposedly, the _only really good_ radio show. So why would someone who’s part of _that_ be paid like someone on a _shitty_ show…
$800k a year is not shitty
Would have been interesting but too much of Robin
Thanks for letting me know, I won’t listen know
Robin was great in this segment. My opinion
@@user-dx7yu1pm2i Robin made the show
I love the Jackie days. Yes it was a bad choice to leave. But it’s human to act the way he did. If you feel responsible for a huge part of the success of something, and than another person puts in 10% of the effort you do but they’re paid hundreds of thousands more than you you’d be upset. It was always a pissing match with Howard. Howard always busted his balls and it was always Howard emasculating him. If I had a dude who was a loser his whole life and got beat up constantly talking down to me I’d snap too.
Kinda of like Howard makes half billion a year and it took 12 people to make that show they get nowhere near that
Why is it that so many commenters evidently hate Howard but watch him anyways? Anyone I dislike, I don't watch. I don't get it.
because the show was better when it included the whole cast and back office people interacting naturally and in a funny way, Howard wasn't the funniest but carried himself like he was better than everyone else in the room. The Stern show hasn't been that for a decade at this point so these old clips are all that's left
Hate watching has been around as long as entertainment has. Get real.
Most common answer? We want to see what he'll say next.
During his mega-popular years there was a poll done wherein at least 50% of his listener-base was comprised of those who despised him. People still tuned in because (love him or hate him) he provoked strong reactions and ignited intense, interesting, debate _(and laughter)._ All wrapped up in a weird and fun freak show unlike anything else before or since.
I feel for Jackie , he didn't have the presence of mind to say ok I'm done here & email them saying no thank you I quit.
Got rid of Jackie bc he was the only person didn’t always agree with Howard.
Jackie got rid of himself what are you on about😂
Were you not listening? He got rid of himself over 50k
If I was Howard, I would negotiate on behalf of my employees: "Oh you wanna pay me $30 million a year? You can afford THAT? Then why does Gary make $35K a year? And Fred and Jackie only make $75K? Even Robin, my princess, only makes six figures. Why not pay me 'only' $26 million and pay each of them $1 million?! That would actually SAVE you nearly $500K!! Learn math, Tom!!" But the Golden Pelican would never think of THAT.
His Jew genes are just too strong for that kind of action
@Stranded NYer If it was my highly profitable show I would stick up for my people who MAKE that show what it is, and make certain they were fairly compensated, yes.
The corporation had the money to pay those people, but they had to feed it to the Golden Pelican to keep him squawking for them. If he had been less greedy there would have been more for his "cast". He still would have gotten the lion's share...but pelicans just have to eat EVERYTHING.
@Stranded NYer Because Papa Howie took care of them once they got to Sirius as long as they were good babies. But there's nothing patronizing about Howard Stern negotiating the salary structure of "the Howard Stern Show"
@@Nunya_Bidness_53 I know it’s not my argument but you are correct. It wouldn’t be about treating his co workers as his children, it would be about Howard taking less of the cake, maybe giving up just one extra slice and still be making hundreds of mil a year, and treat his employees well and thank them for making the show what it became to. Like Seinfeld, a beloved show but many or dare I say most of the fan base liked the supporting cast much better than the main star.
I don’t think it’s about negotiation skills, or letting each man and woman negotiate for themselves, I think it was about all of them knowing Howard was getting the lions share and they were entitled to only crumbs for a long while. I’m sure it took them (Fred, Robin and Gary) years to have a net worth of a million and then more, from investments and stocks etc… Love him or hate him but that’s what Jackie said after he left. Howard got the entire birthday cake besides a slice, and that slice was fought over by him, Fred Robin and Gary. And whatever crumbs from that slice fell off the table, the rest of the staff fought over for. It seems disgusting.
"How about instead of giving you 30 million a year we give you 50k less and give 300k to Gary? It's only 50k to you"
"WHOA WHOA WHOA THAT'S MY 50K"
Robin Quivers... Never has someone been given so much and contributed so little. The definition of "hole". The narcissism from wiggy and Robin off the charts...'how could the guy we shit on everyday not want to work with us?'
