  • Today we are going look at my outdoor holiday lighting configuration, which is centered around the Fibaro RGBW Micro Controller and TinKin IP67 RGBW LED strips. This is a Z-wave controller that will work with the Samsung SmartThings hub.

It all starts with this Fibaro RGBW Micro Controller. This controller works with either 12 or 24 volts DC and has the ability to control the red, green, blue and white channels on standard LED strips.
Now it’s time to bring this into my smart home. Obviously this is meant to work with the Fibaro Home Center Hub, which I don’t have. I tried it on my Wink Hub 2, but it only controlled the On-Off and not the colors.
In the SmartThinks hub, the white light channel stayed on constantly, so I had to remove the white wire from the controller.

This video is just what I needed! Thank you for the video and detailed step-by-step guide. You inspired me to do my own project, I'm going to put a 24V RGBWW strip behind my 100" projector screen and connect it to a Fibaro, a SmartThings and finally Google Home Mini!

This kind of money saving DIY Light strips saves a lot of money.
A lot of people use Gledepto gear, it's less moving parts but way cheaper than Phillips Hue light strips yet they use the Hue bridge and are the same quality.

I noticed that you Used smartthings. Typically you use Wink. Was there a reason you chose ST for this project? Do you run both systems concurrently? Also... you have 3 channels from your Power supply running 5 Fibaros. Did you run 4 Fibaros on 2 channels from the Power supply? Are those wired in series? Do you have a wiring diagram? This is an awesome implementation. Cannot wait to hear how it holds up. I have soffit lighting all around my house, and I have yet to find a reasonable RGBW PAR20 or BR30 that is rated for outdoor use. This may be a great accent to keep me off the ladder.

Hello, How do you control a RGB screw in light bulb with the Fabaro RGB controller. ie. how do you connect the two together?

John, greetings from Canada. Great videos, not just this one but all of them. I will join your web page as a subscriber since the Amazon links take me to the US Amazon site. If you ever figure out how to get your outdoor strip lights into Wink that would be interesting to watch. I don't want to go out and buy another hub. Thanks and will recommend your channel to others. Cheers!

Would this work to implement a 120Vac motion sensor to convert to Z-wave signals ?

Do you know how many feet of RGB lighting strip a single Fibaro can handle before dimming and voltage drop becomes a problem?
