Fun fact: The guy inside the Mac Tonight costume is Doug Jones, an actor who is most famous for playing creature roles like Abe Sapien in the two Guillermo Del Toro Hellboy films, Billy the Zombie in Hocus Pocus, and the aquatic creature in Del Toro's Oscar-winning The Shape of Water. He also appeared in films like Batman Returns and Mystery Men. The Mac Tonight commercials were his first professional acting role.

2:10 - It starts with your personal computer inquiring about Wrigley Spearmint Gum, it ends with Skynet...

I was 11 and in the Fifth grade when these aired, so definitely some core TV memories on display here. I definitely remember that "Johnny Carson" episode of ALF, and the Pringles ad with a young Brad Pitt. The late eighties to the nineties was a great time to be a kid/teen.

i remember being fond of Allyce Beasley.
i miss her face and her voice.
These were the days when most people you saw on television had distinctive personalities.
i was only i child back then, but there was a comforting element to television that is pretty much gone now.
Whomever is running this channel, THANK YOU, for sharing these commercials and awakening such pleasant memories.

Cinderella on VHS- Cinderella and Crest Toothpaste. A combination that I never thought would exist until I saw this commercial.
Cool Whip- There’s something so charming about a pie that can slide on a countertop by itself to get some Cool Whip in this commercial.
Downy- Seeing the Downy laundry detergent bottle land on a pile of towels or clothes and bounce a little bit in commercials like this one puts a smile on my face every time.

Crest also partnered with Disney for a rebate offer for the VHS release of Bambi in 1989: ua-cam.com/video/orXB0YLS5nM/v-deo.html

I wasn’t born until late 88, but I swear I recall seeing the Mac Tonight ads in the early 90s. Am I the only one who recalls this being the case?

      From Wikipedia:
In 1989, Bobby Darin's son Dodd Mitchell Darin claimed that the song infringed upon his father's trademark without prior permission and filed a lawsuit as well as an injunction for the song to be removed from both TV and radio ads. As a response to the lawsuit, McDonald's stopped airing the commercials and retired Mac Tonight after nearly four years of usage (though the character would make a brief return in McDonald's ads between 1996 and 1997).

I remember saying on the last time these commercials were here that the Wear Dated carpet's logo is very 3DO-like but there's the infamous Devil Worship special that was one of my favorite volumes on this channel and was also used in a previous Halloween Marathon promo here!

That Geraldo special would also have been a few weeks before the episode of his talk show where Geraldo ended up taking a chair to the nose.

04:46 This marquee is unmistakable to me, as it belongs to the Stanley Theater of Jersey City, NJ. It used to be a very elegant movie/music hall in the 20s. By the late 70s it was closed and derelict, and in the early 80s the city wanted to tear it down. That's when it was bought by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, leaders of the Jehovah's Witness cult. Credit where it's due, they did a spectacular job in restoring the beautiful building to it's former grandeur.
I was raised in that belief system, and used to attend large worship services there called Assemblies. It's still being used in that capacity today, having been reinstated after the covid shutdown.
I'm shocked to see the familiar copper-plated and stained glass marquee in this random commercial, which was definitely filmed well after we began attending there in '85. So funny to me, at it was ingrained in us to respect that building as a house of worship that was blessed by God's holy spirit, and that no commercialism or business should ever be conducted there. But clearly, the Governing Body approved the utilization of this building for just such a "fleshly," unscriptural purpose. I wonder how much money it took for them to forget their own teachings. Probably not much.

    Cool Whip-Stewie Griffin's favorite food
Wrigley's Spearmint Gum-ad might have been the precursor to the movie"Her"..?
ALF-he's still waiting for the call from Jimmy Fallon
Night Court-hopefully the revival's second season is still happening
Dance 'Til Dawn-this was another one of those"ensemble"comedies that were popular on NBC at the time(the others were High School U.S.A and Combat Academy)
    Tattingers-lasted 11 episodes before being re-tooled as the"dramedy"Nick & Hilary(which lasted for 4..2 were never aired)
Burger King Triple Jump Checkers Contest -wonder if Richard Johnson still has that Pontiac Grand Prix
Pringles-Brad would later take a drive to Fulham County...
    Scope-with Janine Turner
Entertainment Tonight-that Geraldo special was something else

Do you happen to have the end credits and Amblin/WB logos to this airing? I've been looking all over the internet for the credits and logos for the 1988 NBC airing but can't seem to find them. I wasn't able to watch the 1988 airing because I wasn't born until 1991

This recording is incomplete and cuts off before the end credits. The recording that I posted in Vols. 633 and 634 of the same night from a different affiliate is complete:
