This is such a beautiful song!! I can’t think of another artist who can turn one of the oldest (and simplest) jokes ever into a dramatic journey of self discovery. I do not enjoy crying about a chicken…yet here we are. Loving the Bo reactions, keep ‘em comin!!! Cheers
The song is more a metaphor for people who have to make difficult decisions and go through hardship, they may not end up with the life they thought they could get, the hardship might be too much, but if you aren't willing to risk it, then you may end up in a continuous cycle of mundane life.
Loving the hair! Basically he took the old simple joke "why did the chicken cross the road," and turned it into a full deep meaningful song, because that's what he does.
If you look at the chicken being a metaphor for a human woman the line about 'waking up to the sounds of her husbands screams' implies her husband has anger problems which is part of the reason why she feels unhappy. Feeling trapped in your home, a thankless mother.
I think this one of the times, despite being a straight white male just doing comedy, he actually spoke really true to how motherhood can feel for some, and with such beauty and empathy too, he's mostly known for being a cynic, but I think this shows his love for other peoples stories that he struggles to tell "perfectly" like alot of artists, and beats up on himself too much for not being able to do so
I'm curious about the "day you deserve". Do I have to earn a good day? What if I do nothing and get up an noon? Is the second half of my day good by default? What if I'm a poor quality person. Does each day start in the hole? Can I earn tomorrow in advance? What if I have a stellar Friday full of philanthropy and good works, but I punch a kitten Saturday morning? Inquiring minds.
I watch like every Bo reactions.. found you! Subscribed. But on a side note… you are just absolutely stunning. Your mannerisms and facial expressions are great.
I think he’s proven that he is explicitly aware of how what he’s saying can be interpreted by others as well as how the meaning might be effected by the context of the special. And this was absolutely his most explicitly meaningful special. An immediately obvious meaning is the road as the barriers preventing people from doing what they know they need to do to be happy. Also, the last part is interesting considering that he has mentioned in the past that he’s atheist.
4:53 Insight on which came first? Scientific evidence proves it was the Egg. 🤷♂️The Egg came first. Because dinosaurs layed eggs and nobody said it's a chicken egg. Egg... First... 😂
I saw this theory, but honestly, I don't think that it's an accurate interpretation. Like, I don't think that Bo was writing it thinking "Oh, I'm gonna do a song about suicide", bc in the whole song there's not a single line that implies that she wanted to die, or that she took her own life. I think he had his mother in mind while writing that "She wakes up at the sound of her husband screams" and "She likes her life as a mother and wife but is that all she is?". Even the reason why she did cross the road was because she was chasing a better life, she was chasing her dreams.

I've also cried to this before.

And I thought it was about crossy road
It also makes you look at animals a little different, a shot of empathy right into the veins
Interesting take

The imagery of the chicken sporadically looking left and right gets me every time.
The double entendre of thinking she got to "the other side" makes me laugh every time
Why did the chicken volunteer to be sacrificed during a ritual? To get to the other side.
Why does this always make me cry way too much?
I like the irony of a chicken becoming a dentist since they don't have any teeth
Everytime beautiful music is paused, a chicken dies.
Just a masterpiece. Bo is brilliance.

It just means i hope you have a good day and everyone deserves a good day... but love the analysis critical thinking is very important
George Carlin: "Name six ways we're better than chickens! (pause) See, nobody can do it! You know why? 'Cause chickens are decent people."
love your reactions but this is the definition of taking things too literally lol! lots of bo burnhams songs are just giant metaphors. keep it up! :)
Agreed, I’m like.. you really think he’s talking about a chicken, huh.
I think part of it really is him talking about the chicken but how sometimes a simple question can lead him down a rabbit hole of thoughts and ideas.
But thats one of the beautiful things about his music (all music in general) is that everyone receives it differently
At this point I just watch her reaction of Bo's videos to see how much she'll totally miss the point
haha oops... chicken marriages are such an important topic also tho
What a cute song!! Me too! She made it and became an orthodontist!! 😂😂
go chicken orthodontist!!
I watch like every Bo reactions.. found you! Subscribed.

I believe she got to the other side and found the a place where she belonged 😊
SHE MADE IT TO MY PLATE 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love this!
I had chickens and roosters. And roosters do sound mental 😂
At this point I just watch your reaction to Bo's videos to see how much you'll totally miss the point of them. It's entertaining
I appreciate that
Animals in captivity tend to live shorter lives than wild animals.
This is a metaphor for us as humans. It really has nothing to do with the chickens
oh dang...we really just gonna leave the chickens out like that
It’s not a metaphor for humans, it’s just a 4 minute long chicken joke. Some people look too deep into his tlstuff

@@imsmitty31 It's both. With Bo it's always both. 😄
@@imsmitty31 uh... What? Exactly what part of the song was there a "joke"?
Making it to the other side can have more than one meaning too D:
Still can't believe this was cut from his Inside special.
Awesome!
Bruh she didnt care at all
REN. Go Girl!

I cry my ass off every time.
That was a quick exit. I get it though, I defo cried at this song when I first heard it too.
Do oh bo next please its so good
Classic Fable.
Hen wants More , send her to Chicken College
I’m confused about the fact very little people understand that it is a metaphor about suicide

I appreciated the rabbit hole. I wanna know if chickens think that. I have questions. Also I too think she made it.
you tell me, did you made it?
God, look stunning in this
Please react to Pentatonix Hallelujah!!
Lay off the rooster man. It's his job bro.
