- Jos Verstappen the fighter moved up from 18th to 6th place in the first lap and gave Hakkinen and Frentzen a difficult time during the wet race. Unfortunately he finished 7th out of the points. @ the press conference Michael Schumacher showed his respect for Verstappen's speed.

Max said in one interview, “my father wasn’t too bad in the rain”.
Mate, your father is god-tier in the rain
Yes, outdriving those shitty arrows in wet weather condition is a monumental achievement!
@@nomiyahere3466 One of the worst cars Arrows raced...remember Bernoldi's accident...
@@nomiyahere3466 it's the equivalent of bringing one of today's Haas cars to top 6.
I still remember looking up 'Verstappen' on UA-cam, and this would be the most watched video. How times have changed.
This was the best race I've ever seen. Rain making it the great equalizer, so pure craftmanship was needed. That was what Jos the Boss did in his shitty car. Just showing who is the real driver. Thanks Jos, also for giving your son the same spirit.
and now this year, verstappen and Schumacher will meet again
And in the last British GP, Max and Mick fighting for position right to the line. That same race also sees the brand new winner.
Had to see this once again after seeing Max master the rain yesterday in Brasil.
Toepasselijke naam.
That was a crazy, crazy race. Jos deserves better than 7th, he was clearly the man of the race, even his former team mate knows it!
hearing the king of f1 say this gives me goosebumps.
joss the boss!
***** Jos the Boss and Max the new Boss
R.I.P.
Jos the boss from Holland.
Jos is a fighter every inch of the way.
Too hear this from Murray Walker himself reminds me of what an exceptional material driver he was. Which makes me wonder what Max could bring in the future.
Especially when you consider his father is Jos the Boss, and his mother is an multiple times world champion in karting.
Well my good sir. Max is looking quite spectacular these days! The lad has grown into quite the young man! . Pure class and his maturity is admirable. Him and a select few drivers are keeping my love for F1 alive.
@@aerondight7378 I really have to agree with you. Great to see the young guy has grown up into the world class driver he is now. Not difficult to see where he got his racing genes from.
Fan Hans.
Now you see me.. knip
Now you don’t
...how on earth did that Arrows get there?? Cause of Jos the Boss......
And lighter fuel...
@@C3lloman still, this was insane. Showed his skillsIn the rain in Canada 2000 too, when it was minardi.
@@markuss4133 he was driving for Arrows in 2000, but a great drive through the field regardless
@@cribbe6547 arrows was the old Minardi, wasn't it, but yeah thanks. I remember him orange, yeah
Who doesn't love the iconic voice of Murray Walker...?
That moment when Jos out Michael’s the Michael. Just for a bit, and also on different compounds. But still..: no wonder max is one of the best.
Also, kinda crazy how Kimi, and Alonso has raced along side two verstapens and two-wait actually three Schumachers. Wow.
Five drivers have ever raced against all Schumachers. Vettel, Hamilton and Kubica are the other three on top of what you said, except Ham never raced against Michael in red. Kimi and FA is even special, both winning championships and both had driven for Ferrari.
RIP Murray Walker
Jos was a beast in the rain. So was shum offcours. Both driver souls run thru max his veins
OH MY GOD, THE SOUND IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Great video. Thank you so much for bringing back these memories.
A small correction, I believe that after a few grid shuffles Verstappen actually started 16th (still an incredible start). Thanks for the upload, this was the last F1 race I missed so it's great to have on youtube.
That Arrows had no business being in 2nd place, pretty awesome stuff from the flying dutchman!
Thank you for uploading this, it makes me so happy to see it again.
How i miss this beautiful sound with todays cars.....
Fantastisch! Jos was flying
jeroen opstal Heerlijk heerlijk heerlijk........
thnx for posting pall.... I relived and enjoyed every sevond again....
Joss the boss and he knows it :) thx for sharing , this truly was an awsome race
twee man die weten wat racen is / was.
michael en jos the boss !
I love Max, but this video makes me cry every single time. Great commentary, even greater drive. Truely the drive of a lifetime.
Vader Van Max Verstappen >> Jos Verstappen
Can't believe I was here. Came back here in April, 10 years later :)
So sir, are you still online?
Unfortunaly he never had a "good" car to drive in exept the beneton. He is a very good driver. goeiedag verder
Jos the Boss FOREVER!!!!!!
Great video!
Jos is the rainmaster...fastest man in the rain.
Like son like father
Rain when power of a car doesnt matter anymore and the true racer will step up. Just a shame that the track was drying again, at some point in the wet he was the fastes car on track that day. Still a race to remember though, same with the 2000 Canadian race!
God, i miss the good old F1. Joss the Boss!
the noise, my goodness
prachtig filmpje!! echt super :)
Almost 20 yeas ago and Alonso is back next season!
just found it..makes a great 1st Xmass day ;P
Money probably. He also had a brilliant debut season if you look at it now. 10 points (only p1-6 got points back then) and 2 podiums.
I guess that light fuel load made him away from points position in that race. But for that car, since it was aerodynamically good, he should have no problem in wet or even tight tracks such as the Austria where he scored 1 point. Unlike their Supertec that was used in 2000 which ruled in straight line speeds and therefore the best Orange Arrows ever.
He was third in the old days. He's a great driver but never the luck for a better car :)
jos for president !
i want to see that to jos is a very underated driver he can do great things with a f1 car,,he could be a champion with a good car he really is a fighter
18 to 6 wooooooow :)) Jos the Boss!
but i think he earnd some positions cause the RSC spin ^^
though in 01 jos was a consitantly good starter. Always managed to gain places at the start. I think he averaged about 4
Two Ferrari's up in front in Malaysia, and look at the gap between between them, and look at the gap even more importantly between Jarno Trulli and David Coulthard after that sensational start and Heinz Harald Frentzen is there in fifth position in the Jordan followed by one of the Arrows, how on Earth did that get there? and who is it? VERSTAPPEN...
Go! Jos Go!
Where is the video of Jos Verstappen at the Malaysian Grand Prix 2001? From P18 to P6 in one lap!
that was a sensational driving by verstappen,he should deserve a better car
Oh i can remember this so well! Too bad he never drove a very good car.
Maybe I am wrong but 1994 Benetton?
@@Paul-kr2ko Yes true, he wasnt performing well in that year.
@@Marc98338 i mean, he only raced a couple times in 1994, and he got 2 podiums, so its respectable. Jos was a decent driver, not as good as his son, but definitely worthy of more than the shitboxes he had to drive most of his career
They kept making the same mistake. It's Verstappen, not Verschtappen. He's Dutch, and you don't pronounce the s as sch like in German.
Forget about nature, bring back those engine
Kippevel!
I mis this, after he stopped driving I stopt watching.
Well maybe soon you can watch again because another Verstappen is going to make his Formula 1 debut with Torro Rosso anytime soon. And i think Max is even better than his father ! With all due respect to Jos offcourse....;)
Patrick den Engelse Same rain driving, much lesser start instincts. Better race head though. Likely to do much better than dad thanks to his wise coaching. Plus, most F1 sons have a photo model for a mom. Max got a kart racer who beat the likes of Trulli and Fisichella. The genes on that boy...
lol @ Walkers comment - how on earth that get there and who is it - gotta say that made me laugh about Jos :)
for me who wasnt even born in 2001, it is really weird to hear verstappen in this retro graphic f1, even though i know jos raced there
wow you're very young lol. I was 14 in 2001 and glad I was able to witness this era of F1 because it is unwatchable garbage now.
jos could have been so much more, if he had the car...
No DRS
Fursteppun
Can someone tell me why he hasn't been given that opportunity? He had brilliant starts, beautiful wet/damp racing lines, yet no-one seemed really interested in him. Unlike a Perez who gets a McLaren seat for a couple of good races...
Simply put, lack of sponsors and money
