managing a disease literally is the same as treating disease. what you mean is curing a disease. but you cant cure death. managining health is nothing else but doing things in order to statisitcally prolong your life. disease just as death is a part of life. regardless how healthy you live, you age, you'll have disease and you'll die. All you can do is improve your chances to live longer and be healthier while doing so.

Just GREAT SAS. I saw you Byron Donalds interview, first time on your channel. Very good. Of all the catastrophe's running through our culture, obesity is the absolute WORST. Throwing away many good years of actual life and throwing away the rest with lower quality functioning on all levels. My father had MS. He didn't talk or lecture the 5 of us, but one time when I was about 14 he took me aside and said, "son, whatever you do, take care of your health. without it youv'e got nothin." I took it to heart. I saw him slowly deterirate from the time I was 6 until he died at age 53. I ran everywhere I went, and have been in good shape all my life just by being active. Thanks Father.

My biggest fear in life has been following his footsteps to an early grave, and this fear caused me to hit my low point of 452 pounds almost two years ago. But because of men like you Stephen A, and many other of our elders, I'm proud to say that this morning, my scale read 329 pounds, and that pride comes from what I have and will continue to accomplish. 6 years ago was when I sobered up. Oh, not alcohol. I don't drink at all. It's when I discovered my A1c was 9.7!! I was 62. 5'9" and now an "all belly" weight of almost 230 lbs! I felt miserable all the time. I didn't check my home weight scale. I just decided that I was going to do things my way. I'm a retired nurse and my wife is a nurse. I eliminated ALL fruit juice. ALL carbonated beverages. I almost eliminated milk. I started to count hours between meals instead counting pounds. I'd have a big late afternoon early evening pig out. I'd still avoid milk here and drink my only drink besides water. Zero Gatorade. Fast forward. 3 years ago I weighed myself again. I weighed 180 lbs! My A1c was now 5.6! Cholesterol? 136!
Today my A1c remains the same. I weigh 176 lbs on average per day now. I know nutritionists' heads will explode here but, I had come to view food as The Enemy. Because it was. We need to use food as fuel only. Not as some luxury we treat ourselves to. I have skinny legs and arms. Weight gained only resides around my belly. Whenever I pick up these 50lb dog food bags I'm astonished that I carried that weight around my midsection. I'm light on my feet now. Only way to describe it. I'll be 69 this summer. I ride my Harley like a 24 yo. No belly. In fact, I look good in my leathers!
I relate Stephen A. Totally. You look great. Best to you!

At 53….ive Literally been back on track to get my $hit together. Went to the dr. A month ago, my bloodwork showed my A1C is right at 6.3. So now On top of 4 other medications im taking for hypertension, I’m on a 5th for diabetes. Definitely felt this video. My “initial” goal is to shed 50lbs & reduce the meds overall in half by February of next year. Slow and steady is the goal. As a former gym rat although I can’t do what I used to I’m back at it for the rest of my life. Good video Steven A. 💪🏽💯❤️!!!!

I was 245 pounds and lost 90 pounds in a year and a half before I had surgery to repair my ankle that was giving me problems for years. I was sitting down doing curls, doing push ups on my knees, wrapping my foot up riding a stationary bike in pain, counting my calories daily, and doing whatever I could preventing myself from letting myself go even more, etc.. I had every excuse in the world to say I was in pain, injured, depressed or whatever, but I didn’t. It was hard, but after the first few weeks it became a habit, and I got in the best shape of my life. Better than I was in the Army besides running shape, since I couldn’t run due to pain. All of that excess weight didn’t help with my ankle pain as well. Now I’ll never let myself get that out of shape like that again.

Congrats, Stephen! That’s a huge accomplishment in a short time. Glad you took care of it before it was too late. I almost didn’t. I had a heart attack three years ago at 58. Had a stent put in my LAD that the doctor mentioned, the widow maker. I weighed as much as 218 pounds at 5’9” tall. Today I weighed in at 151 pounds. A few pounds from my ultimate goal weight. Been working out consistently for the last two years. We should have done it a long time ago.

My dad was Stephen A's age and he heavily prioritized working hard and barely put time and focus on his health. He ended up being a really successful doctor with his own private clinic and other businesses which afforded my family a good life. But two years ago, we lost him as a result of his neglected health. And I would give all the wealth that came with his sacrifices to have him back. Congrats to Stephen A for realizing he needs to put time in his health too
