    I would prefer having stations. With stations, we could set up off in the Halo Belt and just, be away from everyone. xD But like, servers would be separated by region most likely. So, all of US East will be one giant mesh. All of Aus' would be one mesh etc..etc. Also, land claims in Stanton will be High to Low security. Like, the main planet will most likely be high security. so HELLA large costs. Moons will probably be Medium. Pyro will probably be No security. :P I totally understand your concerns though.

    5:20 I am actually really glad that they went with a simple blueprint system instead of trying to replicate something like space engineers inside Star Citizen which would likely led to them having to throw away half their engine to make it work and look like CR wants it to. And let's be honest... that was a legit concern^^ But I really really like what this looks like so far. In fact immidiately after watching this I snatched myself a Galaxy upgrade from the grey market because I feared it will get more expensive come IAE.
    Edit: What I still wonder is if you have a specific rare blueprint will you be able to sell copies of it? We know that we will be able to trade data and what is a blueprint in the end? Just data.
    Edit 2: I get your point about the penis bases but I kind of see it otherwise. First off, I think that the SC community and the Day Z community are quite different. And secondly if someone pays a bloody 1000 $ for a Pioneer in my book that gives him the permission to build all the penises he wants. There are a lot of strange looking buildings in real life too btw.
    Edit 3: I don't think that two people claiming the same land will be a problem. The replication layer is synchronized accross all servers. So all they need to do is put in a claim delay that is one server tick longer than the sync period. That way the second player will get a message the land is already claimed.

    Keep in mind that planets and moons are *huge* !
    There would be plenty of room on a single one for every single player to build on a single planet with lots of room to spare!
    Keep in mind that, eventually, we will have 100 star systems to spread out in as well.

      Yeah true. I suppose I am thinking like LONG term. Eventually, there is a chance that there could be too many bases etc. But maybe you're right. The planets are gigantic!

    Star Citizen, as a complete game, won't have different servers. Everyone's all on the same instance of the game. That's what server meshing does. That's why the whole land claim thing won't be in-game until all the server meshing tech is implemented. High security would be places like Sol or Terra where there is high UEE presence. The government owns all the land and you lease it from them. The medium security would be places like Stanton, where everything is owned by other corporations and they provide private security. Again, just leasing. No security is where you would be able to "Own" the land when you claim it. But no one is coming to help you if you get attacked, so this would be more dangerous, but what most Orgs would probably opt for as the rewards are the highest and you could call in your own reinforcements if attacked. I assume blueprints will be sharable. Like the map data, this is digital information that you can collect, sell, trade, etc. If you have it added to your personal library, then sell it to someone else, you don't lose that knowledge. It also wouldn't make sense to have it be consumable. The blueprints are just one ingredient. You also need something to manufacture the components, and the raw material to build the components. Just because you have a set of blueprints to build something, doesn't mean you can build it. Also, you have to remember that there are supposed to be 100 star systems, each with a few planet, each with a few moons, so there is a LOT of area. You won't see hundreds of bases everywhere, if you don't know the location of them before hand, you may never find them. It'll be a case of luck or high-quality exploration scanners, though my guess would be there will be an option to build something that can help mask your signature to make it harder for people to find you too. Plus, bases are probably going to be extremely expensive to build, so the average player may not have them.

    Hi, I think it will depend on how good Server meshing works. I think we will have that in the major location europe/NA/Asia... so you break up the number of player is into those server area at least at first.

      Hey. I guess that could work. The downside is that I play with friends over in the US as well as UK and AU. So we are all over the place. As are many orgs. Seems like that might be an issue.

      @@GFAPlays well, you might only need to decide which server you want to use like you currently do and stay on this server. They suffer the same downsides like in any other game with AU having the worst ping.

    Luckily they have a couple more years to dial everything in, but I REALLY like a lot of the QOL features they mentioned...like being able to move and destroy building at no cost, and more importantly...having an option to have a safe home for the carebears that cannot be destroyed.

    I'd like to imagine that server meshing will have a huge effect on base building and planet population.
    Hypothetically if a planet was full... no room to spare whatsoever, of player bases across ALL the servers, I'd imagine that only one server, with say 500 players, would be populating only the 500 bases that the players on that server have on that planet. Perhaps it would only populate the ones that you are near, or only a randomized 20-50 across the entire planet from the pool of 500.
    This would also work in the opposite way though too! So if you go to a planet that is mostly baren on your server of any player bases, but say across all the servers there is about 200 players that have put bases on that planet, then it will just pull from the server mesh about 20-50 bases from that 200 so that way you can see the planet as not so lifeless, etc.
    Unsure if that makes sense, as its hard to describe, but I feel like server meshing is going to be the key in making sure all locations are populated, but not overcrowded as it picks and chooses what to show across the servers to others and what not to show unless you are directly in the server that player is currently on.

      Yeah I guess that could work. Hard to envision. I think they might end up going down the route of games like planeside of foxhole where you pick a main server to live on before spawning at all. And once you're in, thats your base server going forward. The ONLY downside is then being able to play with friends from around the world.

      This will all require replication layer at min, but more likely PU server meshed. Decay will take care of half built. Orgs probably will take large areas but I think CiG would make that some limit. 100 Star systems, average 5 planets, I doubt it'll be a space issue, except near Sol and maybe certain forks of jump areas. I don't plan on building until late game. I'll use my available planet apartment or whatever until space evens out. But with alot of proposed tech, there are questions, dev time, etc.
