Some of you may have noticed another voice singing background vocals on the last couple videos. Her name is Nahneen Kula (Spotify that shit) and her vocals are ON FIRE. I mean just LISTEN to that bass breakdown at “enter time”
Kelii Deleon this is the coolest comment in the world. It’s like actually useful feedback AND positive AND calls out something that we purposefully did because we know people listen to our music via UA-cam playlists. I’m just kind of floored by this, weird I know but it’s just such a great comment
"singing the guitar part" had me dying lmao. perfect level of whimsy for a Cake cover. plus, personally, my absolute kryptonite is I have to sing Cake's trumpet solos every single time they come on, so I thought that whole section just really resonated with me
There’s that moment in every one of these videos where jack just can’t take it anymore and reaches some sort of funky ecstasy. This is the best one I think.
Wow! You guys are so tight. And covering John McCrea and Cake is one of the best calls yet! Anytime (in the future) you might want to cover "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" - it would be a good day. Great stuff! Kudos all.
Proper job, one and all. 😊 I especially enjoyed Nataly scat-singing over Nick's bouncy bass line. The shared headspace and unspoken communication across this little group seems to get better with every session. That's a beautiful thing, indeed.
Cake doesn't get anywhere near enough love for how amazing they are. His vocal delivery is always on point and individual. NO ONE sings like him. It's cliche but I've loved them since Fashion Nugget.
@@Pomplamoose Thank you!! Love you all and your videos so much - "It's like you're always on my mind" is such a happy earworm that's been buzzing about my head for several days now. Keep up the great work and give a shout if you come up Seattle way - we've got a fantastic music community up here and I could make some introductions if you'd like. Hint: A lot of 'em swirl around the Seattle Drum School of Music in Georgetown. :)
An excellent cover of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups and, AND, a DC show announcement... AT THE BLACK CAT?? I couldn't ask for more!
Yeeeehaaa Pomplamoose... I do sincerely love your funky cover universe madly!!! I want more!!! Think I have to quote ABBA... Thank You For The Music!!!
Cake is one of the most underrated bands in existence. This is a really cool interpretation of a great Cake song. Though maybe it would be better if Nataly had worn a short skirt and a looooooooooong...jacket.
used to follow Jack Conte youtube in the early days, and i've now discovered this, wow. Guys, you are amazing, all of you. The quality of the sound is just soo great, and you are all very talented musicians, great!!!
I just discovered Jack Conte's UA-cam years ago then he disappeared and I was like WTF. Then I bothered to google and discovered he started a major company and later discovered Pomplamoose too. 🤷🏽♂️
MORE CAKE COVERS!!!! AHHH THIS IS SO GOOD! I know, I know, your Daft Punk covers are too splendid! Something about the sarcastic wit of Cake channeled through voice of Natalie.... Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps... Short Skirt/Long Jacket... Long Time.... Sheep Go To Heaven... GEMS! These are gems!
I've been listening this song everyday a lot of times for over one week. Can't help it at all, groove is in my head day and night. That frowning stare xD
I got to hang out backstage with Cake a couple of years ago, thanks to a good friend of mine. (John was sick with a bad cold, so it was just our small group.) Love their stuff, and your cover, too.
@@charlieroosen Hey! Steve GADD came up with that lick this drummer plays at the intro! Great lick and nicely done. GADD has some videos showing how to do it. Very useful lick! Take care! ☺
I clicked thinking the song was the Doors Lover HER Madly. I was happily surprised it wasn't because this was a great cover in itself but also because it gave me a suggestion for a future cover!
started with a good pace and the low rainy moose voice. Let's bust out one to show Isaac Hayes on Letterman was before all the internet advancements, perhaps with Maria Muldaur at midnight. Good effort!

I LOVE Y'ALL!!
go make a concert in FRANCE pleaaaaaaaaaaase! :P
Where was she? I love that you (almost?) always show everyone involved!
I was just about to comment exactly this! She's wonderful! Kudos to her!
i believe the bass breakdown time starts at 1:50. Love you guys and all your works equally and endlessly!
Really liked the unobtrusive show ad at the beginning. Keeps people informed, and when I play these videos in a playlist, I can listen uninterupted

ditto
100% agree! I love listening to them in the background while I work but the ads take me out of things sometimes!

CAKE!!! Any time, any day, cover more Cake. Great job here.
🍰 🔥 ❤️
One of the best bands of all time! Totally underrated!!
I completely agree with this comment!
Cant go wrong with a big piece of CAKE.
Yes! Italian Leather Sofa or Ruby Sees All!
Seeing cake live in New Year’s Eve was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
There’s that moment in every one of these videos where jack just can’t take it anymore and reaches some sort of funky ecstasy. This is the best one I think.

It’s cool how they got Ben Aflek to play the keyboard for this. 😉
That guy is the best bassist EVER ! !! ! ! ! From his tone, to his techniques, just outstanding. There....I said it...!

It's two months past, but really love this bassist, drummer, guitarist line up...
..hands in the air Nataly..and dance..love it @2:20
Watching you guys jam out is the greatest mood booster.

THAT BASS SOLO THOUGH
I love this madly.
You Steel my thoughts 😂
Awesome as always. That drummer is amazing. Great song all the way around!
Agreed! The way the rhythm section work so well together is a thing of beauty.
WOW!!!! I wonder what John McCrea would say... I'm stunned!!!
The 'moose is the only place on U Tube that has a banged-up condenser mic.
EGAD!!
A miracle the element inside survived.
That BASS GROOVE DUUUDE!
We all need some Pomplamoose...wright now
Wow! It's my BIRTHDAY today! Pretty nice to get some Cake so early in the morning!! Thank you!!
Happy birthday Clint!
Happy birthday man!

It's my birthday today and I'm starting off enjoying this slice of cake.
I'm here petitioning and dancing to your tune, thank you guys!!!
Possibly the cheeriest band currently on the planet.
Greetings from Scotland 😍
Cake and Pomplamoose are two of my favourite bands so this is just perfection!
An excellent cover of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups and, AND, a DC show announcement... AT THE BLACK CAT?? I couldn't ask for more!
See you there!
That was a sick, dirty, filthy, amazing bass solo.
Natalie. You are HILARIOUS!

I instantly liked Pomplamoose the first time I saw them doing Christmas commercials. I would love to see them live!
Génial !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Now I like me some Cake but, rub some funk on it and now I love it.
Seriously, that breakdown was sweet. Bass game on point.
It’s weird hearing this song without trumpets.. but I dig it, it’s a great version! Thanks for covering it!
Mad respect for covering Cake, and all your amazing covers.
Guys, you're tight as hell! You can feel the chemistry there (not just Natalie and Jack). Keep it up!

Excellent performance!
Was unsure at the intro, but as soon as the lyrics began I fell in love. This is just amazing.
You guys always look like you have so much fun playing, it really is contagious since I can't watch any of your videos without a big grin on my face.
0:01 Moiiiiiiiii!!!! J'ADORE déjà la chanson 😂💛
Literally my fave band covered by another fave band. This is SOOOO good !!!
You are all wonderful people. Thanks for bringing the creativity and talent and genuine awesomeness.
I'm all about that bass!
killer tones! particularly the toms and the bass guitar.
No band has more fun playing than theez guys. This is too good.
I love how Jack is smiling during the whole thing, on damn near every song!
Dig the drums. Drum Man. You good.
Bass player is really good!! Congrats !! great Job
Only discovered these guys recently..but I've had them playing on Spotify more than anything else since then
Fair dinkum, Pomplamoose is the grouse.
You all truly have a deeper shade of soul Thank you 🙏 like coffee for my soul
Interesting take on a classic. Great job!
Really feels like the other side of the table.
What a great version! So different but still true to the vibe of the source!
YESSSSS Cake is like one of my favorite bands!!!
Wow...You guys are amazing...Love it when people come together and make MUSIC that one can feel
Cake is one the more under appreciated bands from the 90’s popularity. Their music holds up 👌🏻🎵
just awesome! thanks!
good grief, I could listen to Nick drop stank bass grooves all day
This song really hits me where I live. Thank you!
Another GREAT ONE!!!! Thank you Pomplamoose!!

That tasty bass solo!
YES! YES! YES!
Best bassist ever
I'm pretty sure "Pomplamoose" is the vocalist and keyboardist, but I really love the rest of the band these days. Totally awesome all around!!!!

One of my favorites from Cake, great job :)
In love with it after just the first line
So good!
sick bass playing!
I love it! The song choice, the cover, the pomplamoosification you've done to the style, the BASS PLAYING?!?! So awesome.
Hey Drummer! NICE "Gadd-a-maque! Smoothe! 🙂

Lmao at that punch zoom at 2:39. Very Office’y. 👌

Nice to see Ben groove out more on this one! Sweet head bashing my friend! And Brian, those licks are definitely Cake worthy!
