My helmet looks very off-centre in this. I can't believe that its maker made it so skew-whiff, so presumably it is my head that is at fault. As I spoke, I could not see the side of my own neck, and the footage clearly shows that my pauldrons have been laced the wrong side of my cuirass straps. Never mind. To my eye, Zac, you looked like a living brass-rubbing.
The one thing im thankful for is you cant smell plastic camping through the video 😂. Was another great year and another great scrap in the kings block.
I wish I could attend and meet all you guys ! Unfortunately, i am a poverty-stricken O.A.P. in Rural Australia, so it's not going to happen, so it's great to see channels like yours. Thanks !
I was marshalling the prince's bodyguard and I have to say it was quite a spectical to see you run out from your line to challenge the prince at the end of day two.
I was there both days, saw you and the others and even ran into you for a photo just before the heavens opened. Great weekend and a good send off for the reenactors stepping down from the lead roles!
Just found this vid (been offline for a while): excellent behind the scenes 'walk around'. Looking forward to this year's event. Thanks for everyone's efforts.
I just found you after watching the video you helped Jill Bearup on . I find this type of thing fascinating my father in law did civil war reenactment I'm looking into that type of thing myself. I have a cousin who has been doing Renaissance faiees recently .
Life has been so busy of late, it's been forever since I've been able to catch one of your videos, but it's great to see your and everyone out in force. Glad you're happy with your harness!
I viewed the battle on the first day was particularly impressed your armour. I really like the skirt, sabatons and rondels. You must be very proud of it!
All that cool (looking) armour! I'm glad you guys all had fun out there? I can't help but think of the end of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" seeing cars in the frame, though, lol.
It was great fun sparring with you! I was on the Beautforts side in the Vanguard with just basic foot soldier kit but it seemed that every time we clashed with the Middletons I was in front of you so I didn't want to keep bonking your armour with my glaive haha
I'm sure I'd recognise you if I saw you again. It's all becoming a bit of a blur already! The armour held up really well. Either everyone was well behaved or It's made of mithril!
@@ZacharyEvans Matthew Finchen and myself went to Tewks with gilded armour for a laugh. I decided to be restrained and go for just gilded visor, bevor, and besagews...Matt took things a step further haha. Yeah your armour looked great, first saw it at Barnet last month. Hopefully it's not Mithril if you play Oldschool Runescape because that's only level 20 defence!
Not this year, unfortunately. We did talk about possible ways to get some, but the general rule is no cameras on the battlefield, so we would need to get special dispensation for it.
No, I am not riding for a while. As this is only the second time out with my harness, I really want to put it through it's paces on foot before I do anything with it on horseback.
The only reenactment event where I've seen plastic tents, pretty uncommon when you come from other side of the channel and using linen ones. The hippies part was unexpected too, I've been a lot in the sauna after the battle.
Damn, I'd love to see a proper battle re-enactment like this. The best I can get in my area is old fat dudes firing musket blanks at each other or your typical ren fest dance number.
Absolutely. High status armour for 1447 would definitely still be in use 20 years later, although likely with some modifications and by individuals lower down the social ladder. At Tewkesbury for example, Nik is wearing armour very up to date for 1471, as he is playing the Duke of gloucester, however I am just one of his retainers, so I am wearing a high quality but older armour, likely from the Dukes stores. We know that in the early 16th century Henry VIII emptied the Royal armouries to recycle out of date armour into more up to date stuff for his soldiers, so the practise of holding on to and using earlier armours was definitely used.

Lindy beige looks fantastic in his new armour
So shiny!
Your harness looks superb. Very clean with slim lines. Really puts paid to the old "plate armor is clumsy and slow" trope. Well chosen, and well made.

I'm glad I can bring some of it to those who can't make it in person.

Thanks. I can move pretty quickly when I need to!
Tewkesbury was always a highlight of my reenactment year. Family and work commitments make weekends away very difficult now. I do miss it so.

A Lancaster! A Lancaster!
Wow! Your armour looks fantastic.
Thank you!
It certainly looks like an awesome event! The new harness looks really nice too!

Oh my god, it's LINDYBEIGE!
looks very fun
Excellent video! Beautiful harness, Zac!👍🏻🎅👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Seems like a blast! Your harness is looking really nice after your tweaks.
I was roasting in shorts and vest......I can only imagine what it was like in full harness
In a word: unpleasant.
It was great to meet you! And get up close with your lovely harness :)

Excellent. I wish I had been there.
Odd hearing Alex's voice without seeing a warship on the screen. A York, a York!
You own a beautiful set of armour sire.
Thank you very much!

Welcome back!
You guys look great! One day if I ever get the right period kit I’ll have to come and throw my lot in with Gloucester’s men, a York a York!
Robby's brig is gorgeous

Just awesomesauce.

Yes, having muster in the plastic camp is a bit difficult for videos
@@ZacharyEvans Don't worry, that it's mildly amusing more than makes up for it!
"WOT'S ALL THIS THEN?"
Hopefully next year I’ll be able to attend. Sadly this year finances didn’t allow the trip.
Ahh i really want to be there
The Tewkesbury Medieval Festival: Is it a reenactment?
Yes, it is.
@@ZacharyEvans Thanks. I think I had an incorrect view of it in my mind.

Robby is a handsome guy just like you Zac and fit .
you've just inherited me from jill beuchamp
Welcome!
I am on the side of the Lancastrians.
Is/will there be any footage of the combat?
Not this year, unfortunately. We did talk about possible ways to get some, but the general rule is no cameras on the battlefield, so we would need to get special dispensation for it.
At 6:20: DRAAAAAAAAACH!
Did you get any saddle time, or were you strictly on foot for this event?
Vast majority of people were on foot the whole time

Seems your english armour a bit older for The Wars of Roses period, eh? 🙃

Maybe the child bought the weapon from the fair & stabbed the teacher the next day.. well done tewkesbury council and police lol
