It's a shame the USA doesnt have an Attorney General or a Department of Justice to file charges and hold people accountable for their criminal activity. You'd think a country that size would have some type of justice system.
That's after the hearings. The Committee will make recommendations to the DOJ when this stage is over.
We're hoping Garland will act once the evidence has been collected at the hearings. Though he might not out of fear of Trump's Cult reacting poorly. We can only hope he does the right thing.

I'm guessing that it's easier to have Congress do this than take all of this on the Department of Justice because then it rests squarely on Garland. I'm thinking Garland is a coward and doesn't want to be the one to take the shot, but if the evidence is out in the open for all to see it makes pressing charges easier and less likely a mob will attack him, but that's all conjecture on my part.
The DOJ, as a rule, does not discuss their investigations until they are done. Which is contrary to what Comey did when he announced the investigation of found Hillary emails, which all ended up being duplicates of already-investigated emails. But let's hope the DOJ charges all those involved, including those in Congress. If this doesn't warrant it, then nothing does & we can kiss democracy goodbye.

People have to some how rationalize or justify their experience; ironically, that usually means siding with the culpable party. I'm a Swedish citizen but have spent many years abroad, including twice in the US. This may hurt but what I have noticed is that there may be a lack of civil courage among Americans that we in Europe value very highly.
Now Bill Barr, Ivanka, Jared plus many many others decide for some reason to speak out and share their true opinions. Why now? Why not when it really mattered?
To have civil courage means to have the courage to stand up for one's opinion even when it involves a personal risk, the ability to stand up for one's values, despite knowledge of open or latent resistance from one's surroundings.
The term has French roots; In 1835, courage civil - the individual's courage to have his own opinion - is mentioned in contrast to courage civique, courage as a citizen of the state.
It appears civil courage is not an American virtue.
The reason is simple- look what they do to whistleblowers (think Edward Snowden). Also, look at what happened to people who took a stand and got killed for it (von Stauffenberg, the Scholl siblings) The problem is damned social media, where everyone is suddenly an expert and quickly spreading their garbage...

Those who are scared of that fate will go there and tell the truth, probably hoping the right wing media either won't air their public admissions OR they'll find a way to twist them and BS their viewers into believing they didn't really hear what they thought they heard. And if everything goes south and the Orange One throws them under the bus, they'll probably bounce back going into some big corporate job thanks to the people who made a fortune out of all the corruption of the administration these goons were part of, OR they'll make a tell all book and go on a tour of all the media to make the most out of it. There's nothing brave about these people. These are not heroes. They supported a corrupted con man until they didn't see an advantage in doing It anymore.
