HDAmodelworx, thanks. Don’t know much about it as it was sent by the owner and returned along with the finished plane. Here’s a link that I found: www.amazon.co.uk/P-38-Lightning-War-Part-COLORS/dp/8362878487
Hi there, I have to say nice shine you have there. Regarding clear coats did you try Vallejo clear for metallic range? If may ask, what kind of book u are using for references? Thanks. Buy the way u got a another subscriber.
Vladan Covic it was a book sent to me by a customer that came with decals. Don’t know much about it and I sent it back with the model. Here’s what I found online. www.amazon.com/P-38-Lightning-Part-Mini-Topcolors/dp/8362878487
what thinner are you using for your oil washes? The problem with things labeled “enamel thinner“ is that they may have other stuff in them like xylene which will definitely attack other materials. If you stick to 100% pure mineral spirits you should not have an issue.
This is looking good. I like the way you’re capturing the dappled look of worn aluminum sheet. How are you finding the durability of the parts where you used ALC107?
Thanks Will. The alclad is holding up well as much as I can tell. I did put varying thicknesses of ak xtreme metal over it which in my experience holds up better than most. It did wear a bit on the edges where I had been handling it. I’m not real experienced with alclad...I mostly use the ak stuff. I’ve found that the shinier the stuff is (ie chrome, polished aluminum etc) the more fragile it is, at least for ak xtreme metals. I’m assuming the same could be said for the alclad stuff but again, haven’t used it much.
If you look closely at a bare metal aircraft, you can see various subtle colors other than just the silver metal. I’m trying to replicate that and you could use any colors you wish I guess. I find that adding clear orange to the clear black creates a shade that is more pleasing to the eye on a metallic surface.
Alclad Aqua Gloss which I spray on at the end of this video and I used micro sol and micro set for setting solutions. I find it’s best to let the clear coat to cure for a day or two before applying decals.
@@seanerk5kt9 yeah, i dont do videos, just watch a lot of them. You dont need to be gulping to start your vids....fuck it just eat on screen, that will help.

Looking good! Love the finish, and the turbocharges look fantastic!
Looks great bud!
Really nice work sir!
Great work as usual, love your approach. Happy moderling.
Looking great.
Useful info on Aqua Gloss!
Excellent work. Very inspiring. Can you share the book reference you were using? Thank you.

Hey. Is Alclad Aqua gloss the only top coat you would suggest for metalizers . Are there any good proven alternatives on the market?

@@seanerk5kt9 very much true! alclad hi-shines are FRA-GEE-LAY.
Amazing! Why clear orange?

Hi , love the work so far , question do you buff the job between each set of metalizer coats ?
No. These particular paints are likely to wear off if you try to buff them. I do lightly wipe off any metallic dust before I apply subsequent coats.
Did u use any clear coat and what about decals solution

This is plane Richard Ira Bong flew, WW2 Won the CMH. Was brought home, to avoid being KIA. Sadly died not long after testing jet fighter.
You dont need to start every video by taking a big gulp of something. Do it off camera.
